NL Pure - the revolutionary binoculars with a large field of view and barely perceptible edges, without compromise on ergonomics and handling. In other words: brilliant optics packed in the smallest possible size. The NL Pure therefore provides unprecedented nature experiences.
Andrew takes them into the field to see their strengths, who they're for and why they should be at the top of your list for birdwatching, or any binocular usage!

It has been reviews like yours that helped me decide on a pair of the 8X42NL Pure binoculars. And they are everything you say the are and a little bit more. Expensive yes, but without a nagging wife, I found the purchase easy enough. Thanks, great review

I'm using the 12x's for hunting deer, bighorn sheep, etc. in northern Nevada which is huge country. Best glass ever.

These binos are Awsome. I have the El 8.5 and these top it by a decent margin. Even though I have the 8x, the picture seems more magnified then the 8.5 this is a big bonus as you're not really giving up anything to gain the FOV. They are also alot better in low light. The contract is similar to the noctivids wich I love. Also the depth of view is much better in the NL then the EL. Waiting on the head rest. Looks promising. You won't regret buying these.

Do u reckon the noctivids are a nicer image than the nls?

There’s a surprising number of train and even bus/lorry spotters! Not sure they’d make a very interesting video subject for us 😅 but lots of passionate transport enthusiasts out there 😊

Thank you for this very informative test. I am a wildlife photographer and a polar guide in Svalbard and Antarctica. Binoculars are my first tool for looking for bears on the ice... in particular. I have old Swaro 8x30 SLCs which still work great but I want to invest in a newer 10x42 pair and the NL Pure look great ! However, I have read on some forums that these binoculars posed two major problems: 1/ condensation on the eyes piece lenses especially in cold conditions (much much more than other best binoculars). This would be due to the abandonment of the treatment of glasses (SvaroClean) which would contain composant harmful to the environment. 2/ Glare problems in bright light conditions (snow, water, reflections...) which would be due to the fact that the inside of the frame is not black over the entire body of the binoculars (unlike the Leica Noctivid ). Do you have an opinion on these two points which are essential for me given my use (use on the sea, in the Arctic > snow, ice, water, strong contrast and negative temperatures). thanks guys :)

Hi Benoist, thank you so much! We usually find that the problems mentioned in forums are the 1% rather than the 99%. The people who are using them with no issues at all are less likley to mention this - however, given your usage scenario is very particular and required for work, it's completely understandable that you want to ensure these are perfect for you.
We've got in contact with our account manager at Swarovski to see what kind of experience they've had with the issues you've raised and to offer some more advice on whether they'd suit your particular usage scenario, but personally I think they'd be perfect for you. One thing that sets the NL Pure aside from the Noctovid is the wider field of view for the same magnification and I think this will be very beneficial for you when looking for bears on the ice (what a fantstic job, by the way!)
I suspect the external condensation on the eyepieces some people may experience is simply due to the temperature difference between your body and the binoculars and this should settle after a few minutes continuous use. If you're wearing a buff/neck and face covering to keep warm and it's covering your mouth then this may have the potential to worsen the issue as your warm breath heads up to the eyepiece. I'll see what Swarovski come back with, but there are anti-fog cleaning solutions (Zeiss offer one, but so do eyewear brands like Oakley) which are very effective to stop glasses from fogging up, so this could potentially be a solution for you.
If you have any events or potential to hire a pair to use in the kind of environment you will be working, then this may be a good idea. When I hear back from Swarovski, I'll add another reply with any additional information they've been able to provide. Thanks for watching our video! - Alex | Wilkinson Cameras

@@WilkinsonCameras Thank you so much Alex. And you're probably right : it's easier to talk about your problems than to say that everything is fine... 🙂Of course, the best could be to test it in cold and bright conditions and compare to Leica Noctivid or Zeiss Victory... but I didn't have the opportunity yet... Look forward to read your return from Swarovski. Thanks again for your review ! 👍🙂

How do these stand up against the Zeiss Victory SFs? For a birder upgrading from a pair of Nikon Monarchs, which model would you choose?

    • @WilkinsonCameras
      @WilkinsonCameras  3 роки тому +1

The NL Pure do have a wider field of view, and the new coating allows for sharper edges and reduced chromatic aberration. At this end of the market there are very minor differences to separate brands, however, Swarovski are known for their excellent aftercare and retained market value.

The ultimate test of optical quality is how round stars remain near the edge of the field, have you checked that?

Hi Ben, we only had these for a few hours to try during the day! The image quality is excellent as you’d expect with any Swarovski optic.

I had heard that the NL Pure model does not use the same field flattening lenses that are used in the EL version. Meaning that the NL Pure edges are sharp, but not to the point of rolling ball effect in
      the EL's.
