You're GREAT! I never would have figured out how to get into this printer without your help! Now I don't have to buy a new printer, because I was able to fix a minor problem! So many printers unnecessarily go into the trash when they could easily be fixed by the owner, if only the manufacturers would simply explain how to open the case in the owners manual! I'm so glad you figured it out and showed others how to do it. Thanks again!
Great video I've just managed to repair my printer for free. Switch on front paper out door was broken telling the printer it was closed all the time. Took the printer apart while watching the video easily and popped it it back together in 2 mins
Great and informative. I striped my Printer step by step to remove a piece of paper that was trapped in there... Agent wanted too much for my liking... Now printer works. Once again many thanks for an informative Video
I appreciate your response! just yesterday talking with a person who is engaged in repairing printers in my city, and I mean that only I have to clean the sponge and that is what I check in the photo is only where a pump will suck the ink and strip there. Thank you very much for your invaluable help too ... I am at your orders for whatever you need. Thank you!
Thank you SO much for this video! Had a problem with output paper door error. I would have never got this thing apart without your help. Especially the "hard part" of the 2 tabs to get the main cover off. I would have NEVER found them and most assuredly would have broken the plastic cover trying to get it off. Printer's working great (I simply bypassed the door switch). Thanks again!
That's great to hear when video is helping others. 15 min that's very fast, you are a one fast handygirl ;) thanks for give a thumb up for the video ;)
Thank you so much for this great video. I'm on a mission to try to repair my Canon Pixma ip4700 because I want to consume less and the environment is important to me. I hope I can open it with your instructions for the ip4500. I'm frustrated with Canon. My printer was just over 2 yrs old and they refuse to send me replacement inkabsorber pads which I need to solve the problem. People, let's get organized, show your repair tricks and share it. Because WE DO care about the environment.
Hello! After one year you hear from me again with great news! Today, I did repair my printer! First I used the reset instructions you sent me to fix the error message about the ink pads that needed to be replaced. All seemed fine but the test print showed only blank paper (printer had not been used for a long time). A friend of mine told me to take out the inkcartridge holder and let is soak in a little container with glassex solution. The ink openings/spouts were probably clogged up. I let it soak it up for more than a week (better be save tha/en sorry). Don't let the printerplate/chip touch the solution!! We put everything back just a few minutes ago and voila!!! It works wonderfully! So happy!!! Thank you for sharing all your experience and tips. Together we can save the environment.
I just see now your reaction I think I somehow missed, a youtube thing I guess. Awesome it worked for you. It's true the printing head will dry out and you need to clean it. I have an video of it how I clean my printing head Canon Printer Pixma IP 4500 How to Clean Printing Head Part 6 Of Canon Pixma Ip 4500 repair series I use hot water or vinegar, or alcohol like spirit, An Ultrasonic Cleaner can be useful. And yes indeed don't let the printer plat/chip touch the solution it will be gone in a day it eats the gold plating very fast!. ;)
That's AWESOME! Great to hear when things work as they should! Its fun to be able to fix things, isn't it?! Thanks for your comment and sharing your experience. Its really great to hear this video helps.I knew this video would help some people, I would never guessed it would be so many. Indeed you right on the spot there as to many printers end-up too soon in trash. If you have time and want do give the video a thumb up or share it. Or even subscribe.
Thank you for this video. I have a Canon Pixma MG5420. It has an issue where I need to get inside and check some things, but I could not find instructions anywhere on how to take it apart! There are no screws...so I wasn't sure where to start. I did see the slots with the arrows and figured that had something to do with it, but I figured the plastic would break if I didn't do it just right. It was nice to see your video and confirm that's how it's done. You said 'gently' a lot...and that is the key! The MG5420 is disassembled exactly the same, but it was similar enough. There were 8 anchor points holding the sides on and then four more holding the scanner bed on. After loosening those and undoing some ribbons and plugs attached to the motherboard, I have access to most of what I need now. Thanks again!
Hi I could not reply earlyer, somehow when I want to leave a comment on youtube, many times I get an error ``answer not send`` . So thats why late reply. Indeed gently is the key in taking appart any hardware. If you have to put too much pressure than it means something probably is screwd down or anchored at some place you can not easily see. Then we need to take time to find that place. Many times I almost broke some device because I didn´t take time to analyse it properly
Thats great, I had 3 of those Canons broken so when I figured it out how to open them I could repair 2 of them so I figured this is useful for youtube ;)Im happy it could help, Im thinking of remaking this when I get a better cam. This one was made with my old motorola phone lol I actaully wondered if anyone found it useful or not because of video quality.
Hi. I will make in the weekend pix of the absorber. Ink tank is not really a ink tank its just a piece of material, and is underneath of what you photographed. What you photographed is not to replaced! There is a pomp witch sucks the ink down, than the waste ink is lead to the absorber. I have printed more than 20.000 pages without ever replacing that piece of material. What will happen if you pint a lot is that the piece of material will get really dirty. But the ink will evaporate pretty fast.
Ahhh that awesome, Love it when this video helps others get their machine working ! Thanks for message it always great to hear from people :), when the video helped them. Greetings ! and keep on printing !
have you ever solved a 5 flashes printer head problem please. i get 5 orange flashes. have cleaned head. i will now take printer apart to see if it needs cleaning. thanks.
May be you can help me on my IP4300. I have a 5 yellow blink problem and 2 of the 5 ink cartridges are not illuminated. I guess it has problem with cabling at the back of the head, but I am not sure. What do you thing I should do with it.
if nothing changed and the lights went off you could be right or you got dirt/ ink rest on bottom of the cartridge holder. If you had a ink spill then that is quite possible to happen. I don´t have the printer with me else I would take a snap of it. But if you look down on front site on the ink cartridge holder you can find there a pice of mainboard that pice has connectors and it can get really dirty after ink spill. I think I have recording of cleaning that on yt. If I find it I will poste the link
Thank you for your help. Unfortunately it can be a physical damage, because a small shelf collapsed near the printer and it was hit by the shelf. I took the head out and cleaned everything and also tried to find any visible damage but I was unsuccessful. Nothing visible damage. Now I stuck and looking for more ideas... Thank you again.
first thank you very much for answering ... I did the reset before disassembling the printer, but still wanted to clean the ink tank, I assumed that at some point is going to be filled with ink. That's why some people sometimes put an external reservoir. Ok now try to send a photo I hope you can see it ... and thanks for caring to answer ... and sorry if the translation is not correct ...
Hello, I want to ask you something, maybe you can help me. I dismantled a Canon IP4700 printer. The reason was to clean the ink absorber. But I've come this far and do not know how to remove the sponge. But I do not want to break anything. Please could you indicate me, if you know, what steps to take now? Thank you very much ..
Great information! So nice of you to habe taken the time to do this video! Friday my IP4500 suddenly stopped working in the middle of printing. No power at all. Have you got any idea as to why and if there is anything I can do about it? Thanks!
Thanks For compliment! I will do the video in HD this week! If your canon pixma IP4500 printer doesn't turn on at all, no lights no noise. Than first try to smell inside of the printer, if it smells burned, you have a chance of burned engine or printing head. Also look at the adapter, that gray thing at the bottom of the printer see apex 8:47. Sometimes it also can be the mainboard apex 13:24 or the control board see at apex 13:44 Those parts can be purchased for very cheap at ebay.de
Thanks! I bypassed the output door switch and now it works, My printer is on a lower shelf and my dog stepped on the tray and caused the switch to fail. The only disconcerting thing was after turning the printer upside down a small half inch long spring with a loop on each end was on the floor. Everything seems to be working ok but where might this spring go?
Hi, sorry for late reply somehow I don't see all reactions coming in on youtube I have assembly tip video Canon Pixma Ip 4500 assemble build back tips Par 5 of Canon Pixma Ip 4500 repair series Or just make a picture of it than I will know. you can email it however I don't think its possible to do it here skype is ok with me I can pm you my contacts info or just make a pic upload it to youtbue and make video reply than everyone can learn from it and you get hits for it so even make some money on it
if you get an error message waste ink rest try this before opening it up. This works for Cannon Ip4200 ip4500 MP610. Steps;1) With the machine power turned off, while pressing the Resume/Cancel button, press and hold the ON/OFF button. (DO NOT release the buttons). The Power LED lights in green to indicate that a function is selectable.2) While holding the ON/OFF button, release the Resume/Cancel button. (DO NOT release the ON/OFF button.)
I love this printer... If you are still taking questions, I have a problem. I believe that a metal pin (I accidentally dropped my craft pins in the open position) sliced the clear gasket on front, right side of the docking station of the print head (the white part, not sure what it is called). I can send you a picture. Do you know of any way to replace this clear gasket or the white part of this docking area? I used your videos to take it apart. Many thanks.
However theoretically, if you clean your cartridge a lot you can have overflow of ink and the ink will leak through the casing but this is really very rare and you would need to have used 2 full sets ink cartridges in a day before even having a chance of this happening.
If you think watching this in HD would be better for you, give a thumb up to this comment. and I will use the earnings from the video to buy an HD camcorder lol :)
Than; 3) While holding the ON/OFF button, press the Resume/Cancel button 2 times, and then release both the ON/OFF and Resume/Cancel buttons. 4) When the Power LED lights in green press the Resume/Cancel button 4 times then press the ON/OFF button. I never replaced my ink absober and just reset the error message. I have printed more than 5000 pages with it if not more and use German brand of ink Sudhause 1000ml (mili liter) with ciss system cheaper than Canon ink tanks.
had 3 geeks look at it . all of them said they could fix it. all where humbled. I'm an auto mech. I could buy a new one for about 17 min worth of work . which leads me to my first post "thanks cannon for fucking up the environment
when this video helps Its always fantastic to hear it works again ;o). And yes those printers are cleverly put together without instructions one is doomed to brake something when taking it apart. Thanks again for comment its really fun to hear if it helps and in so many place in the world.
just followed this and easily undid my ip4500 printer. Would have been impossible without your video. Now to find a replacement switch/control panel unit. Mine not showing any power lights, and I checked the PSU voltages.
Thanks, I really enjoyed making I. Next time I will make HD video. If it helped in any way Im really happy. give the vid a thumbsup if you can and thanks for watching have a good repair ;)
Hey man! Thanks for message! yes the absorber is sort of a sponge, actaully it isn't a sponge its just a piece of material, like the use for isolation in houses. And it shouldn't be really be very dirty. YOu can even wash it if you really insist of cleaning that absorber. I never do it.I will post soon the video on how to replace it. I just did the video for fun to help others. I learn from other youtube videos a lot too. You always can subscribe I will to you as well :) Enjoy your Sunday!
man sorry I didn't see your comment, usually it ends up in the inbox but not this time, always try pm if I don't reply to comments. If you get ink absorber message than usually what you need to do is reset your printer. Try the code I left in comments, earlier. You don't need to change the absorber. The printer has a counter, as far as I know, they are based on printing cycles your printer had. It doesn't have a sensor at the absorber at all. So even if you get the message the absorber is ok.
Urpo Kourunen If your Canon Pixma ip4500 blinks 5 time, that not too good new my friend. It means your printing head is not recognized. It could be fried or if you didn't print for long time the ink has dried up in the printing head. Try to clean it by putting it under warm water if this happened do remember to dry it all up even with hairdryer before putting it back... Also Try reset here is the link ua-cam.com/video/blKpfTA18jY/v-deo.html Good Luck and Merry Christmas! !
anything is fixable the printing boards one can replace some can replace chips but that needs special tools, although never tried that the prices of such tools dropped down. I would agree with you that the economic cycles are faster so they don't make good quality products this day's

Yeah the video is done with one of the first Motorola's with cam in it. I hope you at least could open it, I tell you what, If I get enough views I buy an HD camcorder and remake all the video's :)
Ahh hahaha, yes I worked with tools that I had, they are quite a stone age, thats a given. But watch out! this months after year of running the video, the earnings have run up to staggering $60 this can only mean one thing, Im actually will get a payment from youtube earnings. And Im gonna reinvest it all in the HD cam, if anyone has a suggestion what is good within $60,- let me know ;) So Im going to remake the Videos in HD them, for all the handyman and woman out there. Thanks for the pray ;)
It took me a bit longer to make but today I finally had time to make the video; watch?v=wI23NebX0-8 it explains how to get into the waste absorption tan
hmmm thanks for the post. those 2 parts are for cleaning the nosels of the printing head. I do not have the printer here but I can look it up in tech drawings tomorrow. However I think this should work without replacement. Does your printer still print in good quality ?
@@FixItAMIGO It won't print because it has the 5 blinking light- print head error. Anyway to bypass this error? I'm cleaning the print head in water and have difficulty removing the screws to see if there is debris blocking the holes.
@@FixItAMIGO I took printer totally apart and found waste ink tanks were soaked with ink and area where hose is caked with dried ink. See this video ua-cam.com/video/nAh9lvFnAAo/v-deo.html and also when cleaning a little piece of clear hose disconnected or maybe that is the hose connector. Not sure if this is worth saving. Many thanks.
Indeed but no worries because so many people have watched I made a remake links is in description in pinned commend as well . And in this comment Find HD version of this video here:Link to part 1:*** ua-cam.com/video/j18IONFxwMY/v-deo.html *

Also Try reset here is the link ua-cam.com/video/blKpfTA18jY/v-deo.html Good Luck and Merry Christmas! !
Thank you!!!!!!!
anything is fixable the printing boards one can replace some can replace chips but that needs special tools, although never tried that the prices of such tools dropped down. I would agree with you that the economic cycles are faster so they don't make good quality products this day's

sorry about that the video quality is what it is, its recorded with a Motorola mobile "vintage"
just threw away an cannon mp250 that had a life expectancy of 10 copies. thanks cannon for fucking up the environment a little more.
Very good video. Bad image. It is a pity.
Yeah the video is done with one of the first Motorola's with cam in it. I hope you at least could open it, I tell you what, If I get enough views I buy an HD camcorder and remake all the video's :)
In the beginning of the video slide the top covers toward the center, DO NOT pry them with a screwdriver.
Thanks for the pray ;)
a like me gusta gracias un saludo y un abrazo bien

Btw Soon I will make a video in HD
You welcome man hope it fixed your printer;)
well if you learn how to repair one usually one can get a very longer "life expectancy"
Worse than the video quality here I have not seen on the Internet. Congratulations to a record Gines!
It took me a bit longer to make but today I finally had time to make the video; watch?v=wI23NebX0-8 it explains how to get into the waste absorption tan
send a message... thanks for everything
Nice audio, terrible video. Looks like Beta 3 copied 5 times.
Hi-I uploaded a yt video in the reply of my question. Hope you will reply.
hmmm thanks for the post. those 2 parts are for cleaning the nosels of the printing head. I do not have the printer here but I can look it up in tech drawings tomorrow. However I think this should work without replacement. Does your printer still print in good quality ?
@@FixItAMIGO It won't print because it has the 5 blinking light- print head error. Anyway to bypass this error? I'm cleaning the print head in water and have difficulty removing the screws to see if there is debris blocking the holes.
did you try factory reset of the printer.and do you see any damage in the cartridge holder?
@@FixItAMIGO I took printer totally apart and found waste ink tanks were soaked with ink and area where hose is caked with dried ink. See this video ua-cam.com/video/nAh9lvFnAAo/v-deo.html and also when cleaning a little piece of clear hose disconnected or maybe that is the hose connector. Not sure if this is worth saving. Many thanks.
Zeer slecht gefilmd
