Many incompetent people have disabled the reverse safety switch and then backed over a child with the blade running. They probably thought that only idiots needed safety switches at the time of the switch disablement.

Hooked on the taryl fixes all channel........ great content i find it pretty humurous and really enjoy you guys, Jr and even slippers hahhaha, need more blade man and throttle..... im a sort of hillbilly shade tree mechanic on the side and own my own business as a full time gig doin tree service i can relate to dealing with the public and what goes with it 😀 😄 i meet some characters out there......

That is a most excellent modification for people who own these machines. Probably saves an hour and a half to 2 hours of work.
more like 4.5 hrs even 5 hrs . it's a pain to get the controls out even more of a pain putting new switches in they are a nightmare because of the stupid design it's like they think they won't go bad and if they do just buy a new mower .

Yes Taryl you do make it easy but for the average home owner who doesn’t know what they’re doing I think it will be pretty difficult for them just making a point great video been there done that already 👍

I would bypass the back up switch to the PTO. Saves wear and tear on clutch assembly.

Without all that work, I cut purple wire to allow reverse without PTO cutoff.
Saves the PTO, belt, bearing, etc, the usual.
The owner of this thing is a master of destruction, so I had to
refuse to work on it after the 2nd time he returned it.
Part of the reason I don't work on them anymore.
Stupid people destroying decent equipment.
It took Tim 8 minutes not including the cutting but he knows how it comes apart. I would take me all day.

On a Briggs, and probably most modern engines, the safety switches ground out the coils do no spark. Could you just unclip the ground wires from the coil to test?
I run old Wheel Horses that only have one safety so you hold the clutch in when starting and That's it. For the farm tractors,Dad drilled it into us to put the transmission into neutral and use the clutch. I think that it has served me well knowing that machines can hurt you and safety is more between your ears than relying on the equipment safety switches....but a mower shop has liability and it makes sense that they must be repaired
My buddy's new John Deere actually has a procedure that allows the thing to mow while in reverse by manipulating the thing somehow. I guess that if you have to think about the process each time you have the blades engaged that it is somehow safer.
Why do they need to shut off the blades in reverse my old wheel horse mowed whatever whenever! You had to push in the clutch Blake to stop they just went forever 😂👍
Just bypass the reverse switches while you are in there! 😜
i got a old intec 286H77-0165 the mower was giving no spark I took a coil off an old Murray mower and put on it cranks and runs but seem hot, melted plug wire it was against muffler but never did before also pops a little not a hole lot still it does, any ideas.
one million octane man i could have a high comp engine with that, my need a push start though LOL
