- Happy Halloween! This season, HAWAIʻI Magazine turns to the master of spooky storytelling, Native Hawaiian storyteller Lopaka Kapanui, for a chilling tale about ghosts in the Islands.
Oh my lord, that is one insane ghost story! I’ve heard many and usually immune to them but this one!
Uncle Lopaka is a storytelling LEGEND ❤️🥰🤙
My friends used live right next to that building

Did they ever see the 6 foot tall mud lady?
Wow love these stories,I am Maori and love it very spiritual Hawaii
Uncle Lopaka is a fabulous spirit storyteller. I would like to ask him how he got the job because I would like to have a job like his especially because of my ancestors spirits.
Outskirts of Waikiki? Moiliili? The contessa was built over a graveyard. 🌴😎🌈Aloha
Why did it stop on the 22nd floor must be a reason
Love from San Diego
My father remembers there used to be an old church and a graveyard there. When he was driving for OTS he used to pick up the security guard who worked at the Contessa and the guard said he never experienced anything.
Much love from Maui, Hawaii 🙏🏼🥰
yup that building is built over a graveyard. my father was the attorney representing the families who's relatives remains were buried there. and he won. but legislation passed a bill that allowed them to build over it.
Why the 22nd floor?
Damn! That story would give anyone chicken skin! Glad I didn't hear it at night!
Honestly i love watching ghost stories at night alone it pushes me to confront my fears because I'm a big pos when it comes to ghost stories
Great story.
What is the significance of the 22nd story?? I live right by that building in Moʻiliʻili area...didnt someone also commit suicide there?
Remember visiting that Condo right next to the Graveyard Knew a Guy who lived there
Dang, I used to live in Moiliili Gardens and even spent some quiet time in that cemetery
Plot twist! The man telling the story was the plumber.
That was freaky as fuck while I seat in my room listening to this completely in the dark 😈
During the recent Kona Low the heavy rain was pounding on my house for hours. I did aseveral video’s inside my little kitchen to send via text so my contacts would hear the sound of heavy rain which was deafening,. I played them all back but there were 2 of them that I heard people talking in the background, real voices. I played them later for others who said they heard people with deep voices talking too but did not understand what was being said but definitely several voices talking. My friends asked me if I was playing videos on my i pad or cell phone but during the day is when I power up all my devices and they are never being watched or used. A few days after the heavy rains the wind picked up to 30 miles an hour with high gust just shaking the house. The wind made a lot of weird noises and a lots of whistling which is normal for wind but once again on occasion I heard people talking when there was no one there. Camping in Alaska once I was by a swiftly moving creek and the same thing happened that I heard several voices ask night and there was loud talking and laughing and sounded like a party. I was curious so i researched it and found that people did hear voices in buildings and such but hearing voices in running water was more common than I would have thought. The strange thing about the voices I heard was that the background noise kept changing but I could still hear the voices at time. I have never feared the natural world and and comfortable for some reason I don not even know. I am glad I found this video so at lest I could find someone that might know more than me about this occurrence. Maybe it was not English being spoken….
OMG!
Since elementary school in the 70's, I've known about Contessa being haunted.
Why did it stop on the 22nk floor?
Ok..got some chicken skin outta dat 😳
Can you hire me to be your writer? I can make up one of the best spiritual stories.
There was just some loose hardware on the 22nd floor.
my friend lives in that building
I wonder 🤔
I am saddened that there are no pure Hawaiians left
There is but it’s rear!! You can find on Niihau and Molokai also some parts of the big island
@@howzit9397 Oh Thank GOD! Thank you! I would love to meet them one day :)
@@udz5480 Niihau is a private island so nobody can go there you have to be invited or live there to go. But the others places you can visit
my coworker was pure hawaiian but sadly passed away 2 years ago
Lopaka what are you doing , you need to focus on leading the people to Jesus , i don't give the devil nothing for one reason, he's a lier. Focus on god he's the real power.
Long winded and boring
maybe if you could do better, you'd be interviewed too
@@clifpali5405 that was probably the most polite comeback 👏🤙
