Thanks mate, we would like to do much more of this with brewers who are particularly proud of a recipe and willing to share. We will be doing much more of this in the future
Hey guys. Great video and awesome recipe Dan! I had a question around carbonation. I cannot seem to get a decent head retention on my batch. Not sure if its the fact I blitzed my cherries up too much or something else. Any pointers to make the stout less thin?
Nice concept guys. I do my cherry ripe porter in a different way to this, but am keen to give a secondary cherry addition a crack next time around. Currently I boil the cherries and run with a nice tart flavour.... I feel that's how cherries should be. I used cacao powder on my last version and roasted coconut similar to this, again both in the boil. I agree on the coconut becoming more evident as it warms. I used 5kg of fresh cherries on my batch.... luxury of living in the cherry capital..... certainly taking some points away from this brew. I am keen for some sort of 'get together' as commented by Darren.
Hey mate, this is Darren here. Lets discuss what we can do more. Interesting with your points above mate, i really like this beer and especially that its only 5.8%, def sessionable and so good
Going to give this one a shot soon, got all the ingredients ready to go. Question on using the adjuncts, could I bag them all and put them in the primary as I only have a hdpe fermenter at the moment or would a secondary be best practice (I could do the initial ferment in a cube then use the hdpe one for secondary). Also at what point in the ferment do we add the adjuncts?. Cheers all keep up the great work👍
Hi Adam. One of the main reasons I transferred to secondary is because I pitched a RIS on the yeast cake and obviously didn't want the adjuncts in that. You could definitely get away with adding to primary - I'd add when it's a couple of points off expected final gravity
@Jim's Beer & Brewing oh haha, gotcha. I already have a Brewzilla - and I've read quite a bit about people using rice hulls with this unit, but it doesn't appear these guys ever do. Was just wondering.
@@SteveBenson Yeah I do use rice hulls, especially with grain bill 5+ kgs or with a high percentage of wheat/oats. I would have used hulls with this - just a couple of hand fulls. I don't add them to my brewfather recipes because it counts as a percentage of the grist, and because they're unfermentable it throws the percentages of other grains out.
Can't wait to give this one a shot.
Do it ! Such a good beer mate, let us know how it turns out and thanks for the support
Nice one. Enjoyed the variance to the usual tastings and brew days.
Thanks mate, we are trying to bring to the channel more guest brewdays to have this type of variety. Appreciate the support mate
Great video guys! Love the guest brewer idea. Looks like great beer!

Dan has got this one :)
Love your channel guys!
Question - Do you guys ever need to use rice hulls in your Brewzillia?
@Jim's Beer & Brewing is that an accessory for the Brewzilla?
