    Holy crap. Simple and brilliant. I knew there had to be an easy way and this is it. Several different bow lift methods could work.

      Thanks so much! And yes, it all depends on the weight of the boat and the level of creativity. Either from hoisting or jacking it up underneath , skys the limit! And sometimes it takes several lifting / blocking / resets , I’m order to inch the trailer out from under the boat. Patience is key. Cheers!

      Use a shop crane, aka Cherry Picker, that can be had for a couple hundred from HF.

    At work we aquired a old 25 boston whaler, utility style, maybe 1970's, from the USN. Bare bones vessel, no console. It was going to be our vessel for work, diving operations. Built in a 4" wide x 4" tall wooden cap all around and added 4" D rubber to the rub-rail. Built a steering console with storage, aluminum bimini top and rear towing bitt, powered it with twin Johnson 140's. It also had a 127 gallon fuel cell built in. For engine and vessel maintenance it was easier just to lift it with one of our tugboats deck cranes. One time we lifted it, I put a load cell on and it weighed 16,000#'s

    This is a great tutorial! I may need to do this sometime soon - but of course I don’t have boat jack stands or a forklift! Regardless, the physics, mechanics and process order is A++

      Thank you 🙏🏼 Very true, but you can still do the same method using other ways to lift the bow. For example hanging under a support beam in shop or garage, or a tree limb , a car engine hoist works also, all that’s needed is an overhead support that can safely hold the weight of the bow. :) hope this helps! Cheers

      I've done it many times by just using the trailer jack. A car scissor-style jack also works.

    For swapping trailers, it's a lot simpler to just launch the boat from the old trailer and recover on the new one. You just need to figure out bunk and roller positions. This way however, is great for storage, making trailer repairs, or painting the hull.

    Seriously though, don't trust that tow ball it's dodgy af. Be easy to make up a jib with a hook that you can pick up with the forks

    Bravo-do you know how pros replace the axle ? with boat or without boat on trailer .

    • @joshk1124
      @joshk1124 3 роки тому

      I replaced my axles on my boat trailer few months back. Had to grind few rusty bolts. But jack up the trailer and crib the frame. Lift wheels approx 2” off ground to free everything up, but not so high you struggle with lifting axle or wheels for no reason. Unbolt old axle and install new one. You can get new axles with suspension package fairly cheap. Like 250 each or so. I put 2 3500 lbs axles with 4 new wheels and tires and all grade 8 hardware for about $1100. Took about 6 hrs with 2 people. Could do it with 1 person in a long day. Only took about 2 hrs to install the new stuff. Old rusty gear allow time for.

      Thanks for asking! I borrowed a pair from a friend. What most people do is buy a used set , use them, then sell for what they paid. There always seems to be a set on CL down here in Florida. And the prices are about half of new. What area are you located. There are some yards that will rent them to you as well. :)
