I really enjoy the recent inclusions of more class 1 and trail oriented stuff. It's been fun and refreshing to explore this other niche side of the crawler world.
Once you get past hurting it the TF2 is extremely capable as a rock crawler. I have had my TF2 Mojave kit running hard for 10 years. Lots of tricks on this chassis to make it do unbelievable things! I LOVE my TF2 and D90. Get past the pretty and rock crawl that beast. It can take it. 4.19’s with good inserts are key. Working in the leafs are something we leafers have to do. Either manually or driving it a lot. Great video Canyon.
That other part of your course looks awesome. I didn’t even know you had a trail looking course.
Same
I cannot believe how much the yard has transformed from when you first started. It's fantastic!
Under damped for a crawler, yes. Under damped for a 70s-80s chevy pickup? Nope. Thats pitch, roll, and bounce is right on for that old iron!
They nailed the look and feel. It's definitely a better experience straight out of the box than say a Marlin, which comes out of the box with less compliance than a skateboard.
That looks so good almost makes me wanna order one and carry around a microfiber towl when I drive it, and hold my breath when I give it throttle input or turn the steering wheel when I'm not on flat ground and don't even think about driving through a mud puddle! You have to drive it like your going to a car show lol
I'm getting the tingles😁
Man this thing looks so good. Also thanks for your help with my questions on IG 🤘. The parts are'a'comin' 🙌
the fms k5 has the 75-76 grill same as my 76 k20. the grill on the Scottsdale is a 73-74 year eggcrate grill and the extra grill is a 77-79
I'm so happy to see you review this! I've had my eye on the red 85 4Runner. I think the overall look and especially the interior are superb. I don't know why the 4Runner has opening doors and the Chevy's don't but it's very lame. Originally I wanted to do the SSD scale v8 but the cost is absurd and honestly the new scale engine bays look very nice. I know a scale leafer is never going to perform as well as a pure rock crawler but I don't mind so much when I'm being blinded by all that eye candy!🤓
I've laughed so much my ribs hurt
The TF2 is what its name says, Trail Finder. Definitely not a rock crawler, too many sacrifices for vanity
RC4WD makes the best bodies, with no doubt
The FCX10 Blazer looks right up until you set it beside the Scottsdale. Then it kinda looks like the Wish version. Boom Racing is doing some excellent hardbodies nwo (as well as Killerbodies, Team Raffee, etc) but across the entire line I have to agree-- RC4WD doesn't make a bad body. They just keep getting better.
oo man it is a pretty pretty boy
yes
I recently put a li-ion pack in my trail truck. No battery maintenance! Never removed from rc 👍 basically always charged and ready to go🤘
Sometimes I feel like you're doing Vanna White's jobs........and I want one now. When I first got my RC4WD C2X it fell apart in the first 75 feet! Boy was I psssed. They sent what I needed quickly and saved the day. But it was another day..... Stop trying to sell me Chevy hard body's!!! LOL!
The speed control makes a fine winch controller.
My 2 speed TF2 is still going strong. It's one of my favorite trucks. The ratio between first and second is colossal. First is a crawl gear and second is a quick gear. The transmission is sloppy but I love it. With a little work it can get you most places. The best thing about tiny tire, limited articulation, scale body trucks is that they look great and will always surprise when you learn to drive it.
It’s just so dang purty
THATS IT im getting an rc4wd 4runner😂😂
Beautiful truck for sure! Now I'm more excited to get my tf2 kit in .
That and a Baja 5b and I can die a happy man
"Those mirrors look too big."
Ram owners: 😶
my tf2 has been customized way over normal lol. i installed fusion 1800 and scale trans and flipped over and reverse transfer case. gave me way too much od! like 65% added trail armuor bumpers and cc hand stel interior and double roll bar. steel amazon wheels weighted and 1.9 4.19 swampers. maybe 1600 bucks and still climbing.
We need to see that guy do Mavricks LOL
😅
Oh lord.
He is an expensive version of a diecast model.
What a black beauty
It’s not a double kit. It’s a kit with 3D instructions😂
Chino mod the leafs and maybe o rings under the leaves
Get the body put it on scx10 you are good
When it's available separately, I'd imagine around 200 bucks for the body, as the unpainted Blazer is 150 and the engine bay another 40. Pretty much right in typical hardbody territory.
@@CrawlerCanyon okay plan to buy the RTR sell the chassis and put on a red cat
I had to buy the Gelande Defender D90 Pickup. I love the detail, but I am truly afraid to drive it. Already ordered several parts factory direct because they are not stocked. Thankfully it has coil-overs, so the reactions of the sprung weight aren't as dramatic as on leaf springs. I honestly don't know if I want to get rid of it or treasure it. The other factor is the high price/low performance ratio. Already spent hundreds on scale add ons. Battery is now under hood, old Hobbywing Fusion installed, Amazon 20kg servo (25-35 better but why spend a lot), t-case high clearance mount, Custom links, ... For the hood/doors/tailgate, I use small neodymium magnet bars about 1cm x a few mm square. Love it and hate it at the same time.
I completely agree with you, I had to have one then I got my TF2 and it's like driving something made out of glass they're not very capable and the body's are super brittle.
If there's one thing FMS gets right and rc4wd doesn't, it would be the headlights. They're way too bright white on this one.
Yeah. Most white LEDs seem to be in that 5500k area. Old trucks need that soft white, sub-3000k like what they put in the Willys. Those headlights look perfect.
@@CrawlerCanyon Most early models have updated headlights, you can't buy 40 yr old bulbs.
One thing I've found while dealing with rc4wd rtrs is that if you're running 3s, drop from the 14t? Pinion down to a 9t. That extra reduction helps out with the drag brake a ton and slows them down to where they arent crazy fast. Doing that made my gelande 2 go from undrivable to actually having drag brake with the stock 45 turn motor and outcry esc (HW1060)
Needs a hobbywing Fusion in a bad way.
Shinny turd. Wish I had one ! 😂
Servo says 7.4v capable but 277 inoz on 6v pretty good and the esc I thought had drag break jumpers. That’s a good feeling remote IMO. I don’t think I’d buy a tf2 again but I enjoyed the one I had. Also pinning the front end and accelerating on concrete makes awesome tire burning out sounds and debris left from it. The axles are beautiful on this one.
I feel it’s capable yeah dinky tires but look how small
the differentials are. Be bomb if they built a proper CJ-7 in this amount of detail with a 258 inline 6 2bbl carburetor etc. thanks for your videos Mr. Canyon and try to “have yourself a very good day”
Last year I almost pulled the trigger on a RC4WD Tacoma (the Marty McFly one) at an event but talked myself out of it. I don’t know if I want one of their chassis but I’m getting the itch for the body, possibly to put on a VRD Carbon. They’re just too nice and too scale not to have one in the stable.
That's so darn purdy I would be afraid to use it.
shackle reverse super soft springs/red with 90 mm socks no springs spun the servo 90` and pinion blocks for the lift.
I have the blue one and the fear is real. Servo, esc and motor replaced with higher power items, the skid has been replaced with the a&m garage kit and it's got their anti wrap kit on. It's a fair bit more capable now but I just daren't drive it hard at all.
Well there goes my next paycheck. Looks just like the truck I had in high school
Shirley. Looks good. But I will stay with all my Trx4s.
I'm just imagining a TRX-4 with the Scottsdale body on top of it, and some nice Class 1 Tusks under it. The Scottsdale body comes in at a chonking 3 pounds, put a Defender weighs over 2 pounds with zero add ons. It wouldn't be difficult to tune a TRX-4 to handle the extra pound.
Mr.C, I have an insert idea for you to investigate. Injora blue top ring on a timtin. Would it work?
Work. Of course. How well is to be determined.. you go Mr C
Wheeling with consequences is so much more exciting. It makes me want to fashion a 70/80’s style cab out of thin sheet metal and a wood flat bed so each rollover lasts forever.
I bet all the a&m stuff would still work for the scottsdale
That was a great video
