Weird that "Samus is gay" gets way less hate than "Link is a queer icon" xD
My interpretation is that being raised by alien birds, Samus is largely presented as asexual, which throughout most of the characters existence would have cast her as a lesbian, because, well, if a women doesn't seem to need a man, that can only mean one thing, amirite? But in these more enlightened times, I think (and this is just my opinion) she's just, largely disinterested. She has work to do and bad guys to kill, relationships, especially of the intimate kind, don't really play into her thought processes.
