Thank you! I suspected as much with the Spanish-style classical guitar motif and the overall theme including living on if you're remembered, and permanently being lost once you're forgotten. I just hadn't taken the time to search and see if maybe I was right.
Like you say, the studio version is good, but the live version is on another level. Achingly beautiful vocals from David, with a real tenderness and warmth to his timbre, suiting the message perfectly. Beautiful harmonies, also. Love the guitars, too. Subtle, but still to the fore. But, boy, do those lyrics hit home! Shows off David's songwriting skills, as well as his vocals.
I thought of Coco too. The old man turning into gold dust that blew away after his last friend died. My great grandfather was born in 1840. My Mom knew him, he died when she was 10. 79 years later she passed away. She was the last person that remembered him.
One of my favorite songs....period. Beautifully done and inspiring. Growing up in a border town, I have seen the celebrations of November1st for many years, and I found it to be very touching and emotional...as I had many Hispanic friends growing up. Also, two of my siblings lost children at a young age, and I keep photographs of them.
This was great; very touching. If you ever do A Reason to Fight by Disturbed, you should totally do it in this format again. The official live video is soooo powerful.
I totally agree!!! You have to do "A Reason to Fight" ua-cam.com/video/t4382UVl0oc/v-deo.html that's the studio version. ua-cam.com/video/gRGRduyCy_M/v-deo.html And this is the live version.
I've been waiting for this to drop since you said you reacted to it. Thank you for the honest reaction and I'm glad it touched you. I held it together pretty well until you told the story about the butterfly and the floodgates opened. To give an idea to what they were doing in the first video: it's pretty clear they got the idea for the masks from the day of the dead, but adding the name and wearing the mask, I think, was meant to invoke the message of the song. "Go out and do the best things in life, hold onto the memories of your loved ones, and bring them with you" - symbolized by all the shots of people standing around in public wearing the masks.
This was a fun one to react to. It was a Bear clearing the copyright. I did 8 different versions with all the tricks in the book and none cleared. Then a miracle happened. My original edit came clear. 2 long days of frustration. Worth it though.
The softest Disturbed song you've heard .. please let me introduce you to their cover of "The Sound Of Silence"! It's a masterpiece! A lot of the photo's on screen of the live video was submitted by people at the concert of people they lost, and then they put it in the collage.
Your story about the butterfly brought to mind 2 dreams I had... One was of my dad after he passed in 2010; I came into the room, and he was sitting in his recliner playing golf on the Wii. I went to look out the window, and the only words he said to me was, "You know you gotta cut the grass". I just woke up laughing...like, this may be the one time to send a message from beyond the veil and instead of life advice, money advice, or love advice... it's just a reminder to mow the bloody lawn. The second time, it was a dream about my first cat. We lost him to kidney disease in 2019 at 7 years old. I was in the bathroom, and he just walked in, checked out everything, gave me a headbutt on my hand, looked me in the eyes, gave a sweet meow, and left. Almost like he was saying, "everything's fine now." We ended up getting our two current cats about a month later...one of which came over while watching this, put his paws over my arm, and started licking my hand hehe
I love this song. It came outa couple years after my daughter died and it gets to me every time I listen to it. I’m am still broken inside. I also know when my daughter is around a monarch butterfly will land on a tree branch where I’m standing.
Chris Cornell and The Rev are shown as is David Bowie and a few others. You already saw Chester. Nearly all of these guys have toured with Disturbed at some point.
This song is amazing bro. Glad you did a reaction to it. I’ll be downloading It in a few min. Thanks for the mention of the butterfly memories that day. I was in tears before it even got to that point. Sad day and no one wanted to be there but the butterfly was beautiful. On a lighter note, Disturbed rocks. You and Cindy are a couple awesome people and these reactions are pretty cool. This one especially!!! RIP. Son. Thanks buddy!!
In the Official Live video, there's a link so you can upload your own 8 pictures into the video to use for memory occasions, whether funerals or graduations.
and i thought sound of silence was their best.good god just how good is this band.ive been told alot of bad stuff that their just another thrash metal band that isnt any good.yeah right,i say those people dont know good music then.
David Draiman was inspired to write this song after taking his son to see Coco!

That story about the butterfly is beautiful. It's like the butterfly also wanted to say something. I hope your friend is okay

I am 52 years old..many people have come and left. I can't see this without a tear. :)
Absolutely 💯

I think the wearing of the masks at the end of the official video was them “living life” for their passed loved ones. Symbolically of course.

I've heard their sound of silence cover. It amazing.
Beautiful reaction. Thanks for doing both versions. A Reason to Fight live is also amazing.

They have enabled this video so that people wanting to use it for a funeral can add their own photos to it
That's great

Sorry for your loss.

An amazing tribute.
Dimebag and Vinnie Paul Abbott. Chris Cornell. Jeff Hanneman. Scott Weiland. Paul Grey. Rest in Peace to all of them.
You've got to react to the official live version, recorded while on tour. Heartrending.
Didn't I do that in this video? Did you watch the whole thing?
@@TouchyReactions You are right. I just went back and watched all the way through. My mistake!
That onesie......it just kills me.

Love you buddy
Love you !! Hope to see you guys soon. Give Cindy some love.
Disturbed a reason to fight the official live version .
DAVID THE BEAUTIFUL. I LOVE DISTURBE. ❤❤❤
Don’t you dare be embarrassed by feeling. If a person is NOT emotionally affected by this. They’re someone I wouldn’t want to hang around.
Thanks Tammy
David said in an interview that he wanted to use the "day of the dead" in his video
A couple of Disturbed recommendations that I know you would enjoy....A Reason to Fight (official live version) and The Light (official video)
I miss my parents so much.
In the Official Live video, there's a link so you can upload your own 8 pictures into the video to use for memory occasions, whether funerals or graduations.
One of them was The Rev from Avenged Sevenfold
In the video, I think the putting on of the masks represents the person living on in you
Chester Bennington.

Yes, yes, yes 👏
