  • Stakeholders in the nation’s financial sector have expressed mix feelings with President Bola Tinubu’s approval for the takeoff of the first phase of the Consumer Credit Scheme (CCS), which aims to empower Nigerians to improve their quality of life through access to goods and services.
Speaking with Trust TV’s Lilian Ogazi in Abuja, they opined that if properly executed, the policy will have tremendous benefits for Nigerians.
The consumer credit scheme, according to the federal government, will put money in the pockets of Nigerians, boost manufacturing, and stimulate economic growth.
To drive the scheme, the Nigerian credit corps has been set up and has launched a portal for Nigerians to express interest in scheme.
While many see it as a welcome development, some are worried that the scheme poses a certain level of danger to the economy, hence the need to ensure inclusivity.
