Really fantastic, educational, and inspiring video Tommy! Amazing images and brilliant lighting setups. What I really loved about the video was that you focus on a tool, combined with a clear explanation of technique, which is what we need more of in photography videos rather than just discussions of gear divorced from actual photography. And: cool to see you used the boxes for the doorway effect! The gobo is definitely easier (and less of a 🔥 hazard). Now I want one of these more than ever!
KEN! Thank you for your AMAZING comment I really appreciate your kind feedback :) you're 100% right its DEFINITELY less of fire hazard HAHA happy new year Ken, all the best :)
what a review! thanks for sharing your experience and amazing work! it is really helpful to know how others professionals work. subscribed and thank you!

@@kbqvist I don't have any experience with the optical snoot myself but it should offer more control than the mag mod mag beam. Where the mag beam/mag mode wins is portability for location work, mine lives in the lighting bag along with my Pixapro Pika 200's and 360 light. You can do a fair bit with the mag beam but the optical offers far more in terms of precision light control. If you grab mag mod gear use some silicon sealant to keep the magnets in place in the grips and modifiers other wise they take a real big liking to each other and don't like being separated..
I watched someone review one of these earlier in the year and they look a great little tool. I guess there are lots of opportunities to be had with making your own gobos as well.
100% dude, its pretty endless and always get a good reaction from clients when they see the photos. Its just something a bit different to offer your clients :)
I love this. My question is will my MagMod Gobos fit with kit. Also will my AD600 Pro work with this optical snoot? I know the bulbs inside the AD600 and AD600 pro are different.
Hi please help me with one question .i want to know if profoto b 10 can be used with one continuous light like nanlite or aputure 120d for fill light and background light ? And which continuous light is better ? Nanlight 150 / auture 120dThe purpose of shoot is portraits and fashion . Thanks

Very useful video, thank you, and great portraits. I just ordered the optical snoot and I look forward to using it. I loved the location for your ballet shot - may I ask where it was?
I own this product, there is 2 big problem on it : - first one the system to fix gobo is a big shit it's really hard to fix gobo and to turn them - second part if you will use it with led light, temperature will increase a lot. One of our light switch off because temperature increase to much on it due to this optical snoot. Excepted this point this is good product
how much light does this snoot eat up? i have been using another one and at full power on my strobe i still need to be high on my iso and my settings are 160/F4 but, iso at over 600 or is this normal for this type of light shaping tools?? thanks in advance
Great video Tommy, thanks. If I understood correctly, the optical snoot has to be set between the speedlite and the prime lens, right? What about softboxes, isn't it possible to add up some of them? Or their use would be a nonsense? And lastly: does it fit all lenses (Nikon, Canon, etc.)?
Hi Tommy! I just bought one of these to use with my old 50mm 1.8 (nifty fifty) but it can't be focused unless it's attached to a camera. So now I can't focus the light. Any advice? You recommend the lens I have so I'm curious what your thoughts would be. Thank you!
This is a very useful light shaping tool to keep handy, but this is a bit pricey for what it is. It does produce very good effects though. Magmod is over rated especially for the ridiculous price they charge
wellwhatthen10101 I will admit, the magmod stuff is quite expensive for what it is but I can just about justify the price of this modifier for the effect(s) I get in return personally. Thanks for watching the video dude
Exceptional Vid' - Thanks for posting :) - Just bought one, and another on order (eBay), Brilliant accessories (Mine has its' own internal 3-each x-4" lenses) but very cheap, $130 Australian inc' postage (I think they may have mispriced it ? )
@@TommyReynolds89 Hi Tom' I played with my first focusable snoot in my darkened studio a couple of nights ago, It proved itself brilliant value and a very punchy plus for my studio. Hey roberto. I use it as a fill light. Go check out my video cinematic head shot to learn more about it. I’ll be doing a dedicated video about it very soon

Yours is the first video I've seen where the photos actually look good. So many people don't know what they're doing with this gear.

I have looked at this a few times. Wish I bought it instead of the PITA MagMod sruff.
Thanks for the video Tommy. Great images.

Hi great video. Can i use a Canon 28mm 1.8 usm lens and godox v1 speedlight

So it will be ok with ad 300 pro and his modeling light .? Moreover with 50mm can I light only the face or it is make the light spread too much .?
What for gels don't melt if you put them next to the gobo?
What lens will be the best universal for this optical snoot?
Hello! Love your videos, very inspiring :) do you ever do natural light photography? Would be cool too see.
Coming soon!

What are the camera parameters you used for Tom's first pic? How do you manage to not kill the snoot effect with the keylight?
I would love to see more of this using these lighting adaptors ... there is not enough online about them! :)

Does it compatible for elinchrom strobe light ?
This guy look so freaking good
Do you know what a comparable one would be Stateside? I'd love to get one, I just want to make sure I am getting a quality one.
Hey James, PIXAPRO do worldwide shipping if that helps? Not sure about a US version im afraid
Hey, I was looking for an equivalent and the strobepro looks like the exact equivalent. I am ordering one of these.
Can I use elinchrom lights to mount this Snoot?
Yes but only if you buy the Elicnchrom Speedring as well. As standard it comes with Bowens mount.
