Nothing I hate more than setting up and taking down my tent in heavy rain. Nothing I love more than relaxing in my tent in heavy rain....well, other than blizzard conditions. Me, in my Hilleberg Tarra, in my sleeping bag, in a blizzard = heaven!!!
My first ever cold-front storm in a tent was hilarious. The wind blew and the tent wall was battering my head and I was convinced the pegs had been lifted, and that certain death was imminent. Like Edmund Hillary I braved courageously outside and checked and fastened all the moorings. Of course, everything was fine, but I had never experienced it before. By the 3rd one, when you feel the tent billowing against your head, you just roll over, sigh and sleep even better!
It felt like it! 😁 But luckily, no. The funny thing is, I felt perfectly safe and protected from the storm. Only days later did I realise I had no protection whatsoever from the lightning. 😅 🙏📸🍻🇿🇦
Don't be afraid. I mean, it's not a clever idea to be in a tent in thunderstorm because it offers no protection from lightning whatsoever, but other than that - don't be afraid.
This has got to be absolutely the best video I never saw!

In all my years, I've never experienced a tent rain storm. So simple and peaceful. 👍
Keep tenting! 🏕❤️
It helps that on the "highveld" interior of South Africa, thunderstorms are common in the summer months.

Some people love hearing the rain on a tent. I know I do.
Loved it. Did you stay dry?
Hi Bill. Yep. Only later figured out I had zero protection from the lightning I was seeing and hearing!
Where the storm inside a tent?
