REVIEW - WORX WG512 TRIVAC 3-in-1 Electric Leaf Blower/Mulcher/Yard Vacuum

  • In this video I review the Worx WG512 Leaf Blower, Mulcher and Vacuum. Worx has come up with a patented leveler that, when spun, switches the unit from a blower to a vacuum in seconds. To my knowledge, no other company does this. I have spent the last month or so picking up the leaves on my one acre of land. It has been great so far and I can say I have really pushed it, having it suck up leaves, small sticks and other things that have fallen of the tree.
    Thank you for watching and please let me know if you have questions or comments. I would love to hear from you!
    Enjoy!

    I finally found the secret to easy use. It reduces leaves 16-1.. and it DOES suck and shred extremely well. The weight and the way the unit is balanced is a problem for me. HOWEVER... after some experimentation, What I do is just blow my leaves into a pile or windrow against the fence, and turn this unit on, lay it down on it's side, and then just use my leaf rake to gently direct the leaves toward the snout. It''s sucks them right in, shreds a huge pile so it fits into a couple bags, and makes things easy to deal with. I also use it in the regular way to suck leaves out of nooks and crannies under patio chairs, behind bushes etc.... it's really great for that

      Thanks for your comment, Brock. That is actually a really good idea! I have so many leaves in my yard each fall, making it so tedious to get them all up, so I might have to try that!

    Great review. The features on the Worx definitly outweigh the con of having to deal with a powercord. I use my Husquvarna 150BTS gas blower for quick cleanups and the Worx to vac.

    You took a stab at explaining leaf blower power??? You’ll never catch me trying to do that so hats off, that was Very brave of you 🤣🤣🤣
    There’s a lot more that goes into it than CFM but I think you got a really really good machine for the price point
    I changed my mind, maybe I’ll do a video trying to explain blower power and what the numbers mean and just accept the pain the comments section will bring. This is a very touchy subject for lawn guys lol

      Dude, thanks man!! I really appreciate that. I hope I did it justice. You can probably do a much better job than me since I am just an average home owner 😂
      With that said, I would gladly watch that video. And yes, please let me know in that video what else goes into it all.
      I think one reason I took a stab at it is because at some point I want to invest into a dust collection system for my garage and that is ALL about CFM lol. So I know if nothing else, that is very important.

    i bought a used wg 509 has done a great job, and was well worth the price, so i am upgraded to the wg 512 and will use both.
    the bag works better with the strap going over your head. it is more comfortable and is much more effecient when detaching the bag, emptying it, and reattaching the bag to the trivac, it never leaves your shoulder and reattaching the bag by just picking up the trivac, it is very light.

    • @UseWhatchaGot
      @UseWhatchaGot  Рік тому

      I agree! I am using it for the second season and it is still running great. Only thing I am worried about is the straps and if they will rip off the bag at some point. Other than that, I don’t really have any complaints. It does create a bit of dust but I would assume any of them do.

      How do you think this compares to other brands - corded?
      I want to purchase a blower amd mulcher combo. I have magnolia trees that drop leaves non-stop. So need blower and mulcher functions.
      Are yours still holding up? I bought a Craftsman but before I used it I came across so many horror stories that I took it back.
      And so worried about how well the mulchers hold up, especially since this one is plastic impeller as opposed to Toro, B&D and Craftsman which have metal impellers. Considering just blower and just raking the leaves old school style.
      Decisions.

      @@maverickofsouth4534 Hi Maverick, I can only speak to the Black and Decker blower I have and it is not as powerful as the Worx. This particular model of the blower/mulcher has a higher CFM than any other Worx model, and a comparable gas blower cost 3-4x as much. In regards to the mulching, the only time it has gotten stuck on me is if it sucks up a small branch. you pop the top off, then pull it out. It automatically shuts off when something gets in the way. Also, I have not had any issues with it yet, now using it through two fall seasons and a ton of leaves. Due to the amount of leaves I have, I actually found it easier to rake them, then suck them up with the Worx and bag them afterwords.
      So, Id say for around $100, its a really good deal - aside from the fact you will be pulling a cable around. Depending on the size of your yard, it could be good. with my acre, I couldnt justify the price of battery, but I may invest in a gas blower at some point, not sure yet!
      Hopefully this helps.

      @@UseWhatchaGot Yeah, that's what I was looking to do - rake in a couple piles and use the vacuum and suck up. You were talking about an extension you can purchase to suck the leaves directly in another bag. I might like to do that. I just want something that will work and blows the leaves really well to get them in a pile. And not break until I have at least gotten a few good years out of it. The Toro, B&D, and Craftsman blow around 240 mph. That's pretty good. I also thought about getting the Worx leaf mulcher separate but that doesn't seem like a good idea given that it's just a string/wire that doing the mulching. But under $100, I should just give it a try.
      This one has a better blowing speed than the newer Worx model mulcher?

    I've watched a number of reviews for this model and I'm pretty much sold on it. I have an earlier Workx vacuum/blower/mulcher and it still works very well, but the static electric shocks it delivers due to the dry air here in the California desert make it unusable often during the year, even through leather work gloves. I can't find any mention from any other reviewers if they have issues with static shocks on the WG512 model...any thoughts?

    I'm surprised you didn't have Echo in your gas brands. In a lot of ways I find Echo to be superior to Stihl. That said, I am thinking of getting the Worx you listed here, but not for some time. I am waiting for my gas powered unit to go before I do.
    The CFM rating may only apply to the blower setting, not the vacuum setting.
    Also, you can still get the garbage can attachment and attach it to a fairly large unit reducing the number of times you have to fill. That said, it looks like your leaf collection uses the paper bags, so it may not apply.

    • @UseWhatchaGot
      @UseWhatchaGot  8 місяців тому

      Hi WJC, it’s funny that you mention echo. My buddy who has a full-time lawn care, business uses all Eco tools and I actually didn’t know about them until I did a few videos with them on my channel. So I may have to check them out.
      And yes, I would say the CFM is only for the blower. The vacuum is kind of hit or miss. It’s OK and the thing that is frustrating to me is that I can usually work faster if I use my metal rake then I can walking around with the blower or using the vacuum setting .
      I have also thought about getting the trashcan attachment or maybe the attachment that goes to the Pop Up bag the last few years I actually have used the paper, waste bags but this year I’m trying out clear trash bags specifically made for yard waste , so we’ll see how that goes.

      @UseWhatchaGot  11 днів тому

      Hello, I have not done that myself, but I think if they are not too heavy, it probably could. And the fact that they are rotten, it will be easy for it to cut it up.

  • @BrayZap
    @BrayZap 3 місяці тому

    Hopefully you still read messages on here. I bought this and it vacuums up leaves great but if there's leaves on a garden or somewhere with dirt that I'm sucking up, dirt/dust blows everywhere and everything gets dirty. Did you have any experience with this?

    • @UseWhatchaGot
      @UseWhatchaGot  3 місяці тому +1

      Hi Bray, no, not that specifically. I mainly have only used it for leave, and blowing in general. In my experience, sticks that are slightly too big get stuck in the fan area and it doesn’t chop it up. It’s easy to pull the cover off and remove the stick but just annoying.
      The other big issue is more that once it starts getting full of leaves, dust kind just starts coming off the bag. I think I mention that in the video, but I never use it without wearing a mask.
      I will say it is not perfect, it works well but for the price you can’t really beat what you get.

    • @BrayZap
      @BrayZap 3 місяці тому

      @@UseWhatchaGot maybe that's what it might have been but the bag wasn't even full at all but all this dust just started spewing everywhere and I'm not even sure from what I thought it was the dirt it was accidentally picking up

    How does the Mulcher work with acorns? I know you said small sticks ok but not sure how acorns would do. Looking for something strong enough to pick them up but where they can bypass Mulcher without messing it up.

    • @UseWhatchaGot
      @UseWhatchaGot  8 місяців тому

      Hi, so I can’t really speak to that due to the fact that I don’t have any acorns myself, but I would think it probably would not do a very good job. As you mentioned little sticks here and there aren’t that bad, but the occasional stick will get stuck, and the good thing is that the system just shuts itself down but then you have to take the top piece out and remove the stick, so I would assume acorns would definitely get stuck in there. So I really don’t know the best way to deal with acorns! 😞
