I loved the torque converter part of it. A very effective method used. Also probably essential in this situation, as it offers some cushioning in the drive train. Using a fixed clutch would almost certainly result in something breaking during power up, or shifting, or if something was resisting the rotation of both wheels.
There have been quite a few cars with manual gearbox *and* torque converter. That way a clutch is unneeded but you can still shift the gearbox directly. The upside is that sitting in slow moving and halting traffic is more comfortable, and that people who have a bad left foot can drive the car. Furthermore you can make do with less gears. The downside is less efficiency and the rubbery feeling of a torque converter.
No I did not. What I do is I basically start off with the basic mechanical work of the part and then build around it. Besides, I have new, smaller models now.
i think i had that same lame web development book. I just so happen to be a web developer as my occupation now, but has nothing to do with owning that book or taking classes on it. lol

Holy crap, this is so cool! Nice work dude
Nicely done!! This is really fantastic. Great job!
Rip whoever disliked this video. You are very alone.
Homie Boi um can you help me find out more about knex i seen you on multiple knex vids
Random I am Sure thing. What is it you need help with?
Like how to make pistons work more effectively and make better cylinder engine
Love the differential design!
That is really cool👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
nice, you should post a how to video on how to build the individual elements of this. very cool!
I wants to play with it! This is badass! :D
You should have built a clutch to change gears with
daniel PC/ Xbox yup. I’m working on it 👍
I think daniel changed his name lol
@@FrankDaBank25 people are still watching this? omg lmao. ive seen this a couple years ago
Loved it!!! You should share the plans.
Abdullah Atalan thanks but there is no plans. I just wing it with these things. It’s hard to plan stuff out with knex
Wow thats so cool a little while ago when I was a kid I made spider gears so it's so cool to randomly find this video
I am so amazed by this

Would love to get your diferental design, could never get mine to work
Steelheart117 I’ll post a vid within a few days
well done!
Super dude ❤️
thats impressive :P
That's amazing dude
Wow nice project i like it
Very cool stuff.
That is awesome!
Can you do a video showing how to make the 2 speed gearbox
I have a new version that I can work something out
wish i could make that
Where are you from?
I like it
Any chance you posted instructions on how to build this somewhere?
No I did not. What I do is I basically start off with the basic mechanical work of the part and then build around it. Besides, I have new, smaller models now.
Very cool!
bro i tried to make somthing like this on a smaller scale and it didnt work
Cutious what ratios the gears are, is high gear 1:1? or OD?
Low gear is 1:2 and high is 2:1. Yes I know it needs a 1:1 middle gear but I’m still working on it 👍
where did you get the v8 engine
Robert H I built it but the design came from the linked channel
yeah found that out
use a knex moter instead of a drill [i think]
Devin Seeley using the drill gives higher speeds and the cordless drill has more torque. The knex motors weren’t built for speed or torque.
joey Shaffer is my UA-cam channel
joey Shaffer very interesting
Eeee grinding my gears smh... Jk 😂 I like the model its very clever
Oiseau Montez check out my new video. A fully functional car. Sort of
nice!
Benjamin Philiposian stay tuned. Have something way cooler coming
Could almost put that in a large scale car
Good
imagine something getting stuck in one of the gears 💀
wow.
i think i had that same lame web development book. I just so happen to be a web developer as my occupation now, but has nothing to do with owning that book or taking classes on it. lol
kitsurubami um ok? 😂 it was my sisters book
Bro why does nursery rhymes in this video?
My nephew was watching, figured there being a kid in the house would be the obvious conclusion
Really nice.
