This movie was more than just entertainment. It is delivering a specific message to those who are in the know to keep quite about a very ancient past. The aliens depected in this film is a representation of something else. Lupita was specifically chosen for this role based on her physical characteristics. Not taking anything away from Lupita as she is a phenomenal actress. She was needed for this role as it would not have worked for any other actor, especially if they didn't have dark features or kinky hair. On the surface, this movie was crud compared to the other two.
I thought we we’re gonna get an alien invasion origin story too, so in that I was disappointed as well. It was more in line with the way Cloverfield was structured and it’s soft sequel. This is set in the Quiet Place verse but otherwise it’s a just a story about her dealing with her last days. The fact that these are also the last days of humanity at large seems like a coincidence. Interesting but not satisfying for either scifi or horror. It also "reads" as a tragic love story with NYC. I mean the I
