I'm 17 and it's still terrifying because men think I need to be married and having kids. I'm not sorry - NO! Don't want kids, and you can bet I'll be picking any spouse very carefully. They certainly will not be a man who thinks he has any say over my body. For context, lesbian here.
Currently almost 17 and still don't want to marry or have kids. A relative of mine had her daughter at 16 (or 17) and she's a very good mother but honestly, I cannot imagine myself going through that right now...
there's a girl (probably young woman at this point) who made her girl scouts community service project be about banning child marriage in the state of new hampshire. one of the gross old congressmen told her she shouldn't be doing activism on the issue because she was "just too young to understand these kinds of things". she literally just stood there like "....yeah that's. that's my point?" she got the legal age raised from like 11 to 16. not a legal adult but slightly less of a nightmare. really cool person, and that congressman's dumbass statement makes me laugh once a week
Funny thing about the whole "Don't show periods on children movie" thing in Turning Red: The girl is never shown having a period. Obviously, the whole turning into a panda thing is a metaphor for becoming a teenager, which includes getting your first period, but the girl is never shown getting it and outside of the jokes about pads periods aren't mentioned once the entire movie.
The funny thing is that modern Disney films would be much classier about teaching s&x education than the yahoos who spout conspiracies about their children being indoctrinated.

Do you know what the word "mammal" comes from? Mammary glands! Aka, the defining thing that ALL mammals have! And do you know what mammary glands on a human are called? BOOBAS! Aka, the very body part YOU probably stare at and obsess over the most! (Unless you're a butt dude.) Another scientific fact is that humans, among many other kinds of animals, start forming in the womb butt-first instead of mouth-first, meaning that ALL of us start off as a$$holes....and it's quite clear that some of us never got past that. :)

fun fact, the breast itself is mostly made of fatty tissue, and therefore, the more you exercise, the smaller they will get. Which is why you typically see gymnasts and dancers and athletes with nearly flat chests. So, in theory, working out to get a bigger chest would do the exact opposite of what you're trying to accomplish.
actually working out can make you go up a cup size, but not for everyone/not for the reason people think. it's usually because you go down a band size; the breasts aren't really getting significantly bigger.

as a pan gal, can confirm about the period thing. when i think about how pretty girls are, it pauses until i start thinking about guys. when im crushing on an enby, my uterus starts dispensing packaged garlic bread out of confusion
Funfact: The guy thinking his baby girl will become lesbian from breastfeeding if we go with Sigmund Freud's theory it is the opposite. Neglecting the Breast will create a craving for it in her adulthood xD
He's so angry and worried about it, too. Mate, she's a fucking baby, she can't even see the breast, she doesn't know what it is, her thoughts at this point in life don't get any more complex than: "I'm hungry, waaah!" and "My butt is wet, waaah!"
We need to stop citing Freud. His total database was interviews with a client who had a child (little Hans). Freud extensively coached this client, and CORRECTED him when the client's reports varied from Freud's doctrine. Freud was the first prominent person to discuss Psychology, but he was ALWAYS completely wrong, since he rejected reality testing. Freud was one of the most famous idiots of all time.
@@markedwards3647 Why would i stop citing him? If i start to stop citing idiots I can't cite anyone anymore because Humans in General are Idiots. Even Einstein, a Genius compared to other Humans is still just a spec of dust when it comes to knowing and understanding the universe and how anything works.
getting your periods should not be compared to boners or other sexual stuff, it should be compared to like, your voice breaking for example, yeah its akward and a lot of men are embarassed about it when it first happens but if they arent taught about it they might get scared and confused or think theyre sick or something
I mean... it IS comparable though. In that these things respectively signal that the body has reached a certain stage of development. Sure a period is unpleasant and a wet dream is pleasurable, but it's not about that. The first menstruation / ejaculation means that biologically speaking, you've reached reproductive age. (obviously doesn't mean you SHOULD be reproducing at that age, but that the body is technically capable.)
I do think boys should be being taught about boners and ejaculation so they're not surprised or afraid when it happens to them, but I also agree that the two are not on the same level and absolutely everyone, regardless of gender, should have a complete understanding of periods. Almost half of the population experience periods and it's important that all people of all genders understand them.
@@Arvak absolutely! I think everyone in general should learn everything about human biology, how puberty works, what parts people can have and how they work! Imo they should teach this stuff pretty soon to young people so they dont get a huge shock when their or their friends body does something, and then as young teens be also teached futher about it, such as trans expiriences, intersex, how chromozones arent always the same as whats expected of your sex, how libido and general sexual interactions may work ect! But first and foremost young kids need to be taught about their bodies (in a nonsexual context of course), then when they grow older teach them more complex stuff
As a man, I find the stupidity and stubbornness of other men when it comes to female anatomy both disquieting and disgusting. I will be forever grateful to my first girlfriend for her patience. Something else I've never understood is this obsession with virgins. I would much rather have a woman that knows what she's doing, knows what she wants, and isn't afraid to let me know it.
Is not about the quality of sex, its about power and "conquering". A nice added bonus is that a virgin girl is less likely to give feedback since she doesn't know any better. My first time I literally thought "is this is" it was so underwhelming xd
Yeah the whole virgity=purity bs annoys me so much, and makes no sense. If it's a fetish I get it, but claiming it's natural and making up some ,,science” for it is ridiculous
Yeah as a guy the whole virgin thing to me is so icky, women don't lose 'value' and become 'used' from having sex .... they're human beings not an object or a pair of shoes or something. @akasaki is correct, it's about power and taking something from someone who isn't in a position to know otherwise.
I’m glad that I am enby, I would never want to be associated with men because of people like this, also a tiny bit of misophonia which is hard to explain
I’m glad the screenshot wasn’t related to those words, because I went into the video incredibly confused. I’d love to see Click talk about TOH, but maybe not in one of *these* videos
What I don't get is the men who get something wrong about female anatomy and then get teeth-grindingly angry when their own girlfriends correct them. Like, why would you assume you would know better than her? Mansplaining. It's a hell of a drug. EDIT: Not trying to imply that all women are omniscient about female anatomy. Women are obviously capable of getting things wrong about their own bodies. What I’m talking about is the kind of situation where a man is so convinced that a woman’s period comes out of her ass that he starts shaking and getting red in the face when his girlfriend tells him otherwise (actual story I’ve seen on Reddit).
Simply put: it’s embarrassing to be proven wrong when you believed you were right. Part of being an adult is leaning to admit and accept when you were wrong. These men are not adults
That logic is flawed though, sometimes they are legitimately wrong. Such as a girl I went to highschool with who swore you could drown a fetus in the bath, or had to drink milk in order to produce it, despite my insistence it was false.

The whole educating kids, especially young girls about periods and stuff early is sooo important. Just from my own personal experience all I ever learned was: "You're gonna start bleeding and eventually it'll regulate out to about a week once a month. That was it. Fast forward a few years and my periods were STILL not regular and i was bleeding for months at a time with maybe a week without blood. I told my mom and she said "Oh you're still evening out, you'll be fine". Turns out I wasn't fine and had a rare form of ovarian cancer so I had to deal with that at 15. Everything is fine now and I'm in remission, but I can't help but think if maybe we'd be a bit more educated and talked about it more in depth, we could've caught it earlier.

While I was a medic in a predominantly male unit I had these teaching tools for both female and male. The women thought both were useful and hilarious, the men were less open to practicing how to do self checks for cancer. Then someone stole my silicone cancer balls and I got very angry.

I never lied to my child about ‘where do babies come from’ or ‘how they’re made’. I just gave them a bit more information every time they asked… from age 3-13. They were one of the few who actually knew what to expect and they are comfortable talking to me.
Cheers to you. That was my parents' rule with my brother and I. If you asked a question, you got the answer. (Ma was the better parent to ask. Her answers were always satisfying to hear. ♡ ) It is a parenting technique that works very well and builds a ton of trust. "I don't know what I am dealing with right now...but you know who has never lied to me about it?" Boom. Trust city. :)
My parents ignored me all my life so I’m a bit of a dumbass when it comes to common knowledge, but eventually when I’m a parent, I wanted to have that mentality. No baby talk, no lying about things to get around talking about things. If they’re curious, I’ll let them know. Help them grow and not be oblivious when they leave the house
My parents didn't tell me anything and when I went to the toilet and saw I'd "peed" blood at school I thought that I must have bladder cancer like my nana. All day I was in class in pain thinking I was literally dying.
Speaking as a woman, it is often really hard to find doctors who will listen to us and not come into things with assumptions. Our pain isn't taken as seriously, and we are often told it either isn't real or must be something like our weight causing it. And we all must want to have kids, and if we say we don't, we are going to change our minds. It gets so frustrating.
So as a nurse, and a woman, I can verify that we have to have a soundproof room when we catheterise women, because they are so aroused the other patients get jealous and want a catheter rammed up their sensitive spots too! Also as a 32 year old, I'm looking at my 7 month old daughter, so relieved that my "dry plum" ovaries magically managed to grow a baby....its a miracle!
My mom had my youngest brother at 37 (he was NOT planned, but that's another story entirely), so unless she's lying and secretly grew him from a cabbage in her garden, the whole "ovaries dry up at 30" thing is definitely BS.
For the boob exercise guy, it’s funny that the very exercises he told his girlfriend to do are actually ones commonly used by trans masc people to make our chests smaller or even passing before/instead of top surgery
went on a date with a girl who ended up being a "gold star" mentality; she ranted about how gross it was that I had ever been involved with men and basically tried to make me feel like shit for it. Kinda hard for her to pull this high and mighty stance when she also openly admitted to being racist against other black people. like.... excuse me ma'am?
I distinctly remember learning as a child that back in Ye Olde Dayes, they *didn't* tell AFAB people about menstruation. Those kids would just wake up one day and be randomly bleeding for no apparent reason. Anyone seen the movie "My Girl" and remember the part where she panics because she thinks she's started hemorrhaging? Yeah, that was pretty realistic, according to women in the generations that raised me. So talking about menstruation in major movies like "Red" is pretty damn important.
Ohmygod, that's SO sad. I thought _my_ school's sex education was bad (and it was--they ONLY talked about the reproductive side of things, we never even had a condom-over-a-banana demonstration and consent was NOT a word ever said) but at least they told us enough so that when that happened to me one day, I knew what was happening and could ask my mom for pads! (Of course, this being a Mormon school, the main thing they said about sex was "Don't until you're married." This didn't stop rumours flying about any female student who even slightly had a belly, however.)
I got my first period when I was 10. Luckily, my mom was good about talking about these things, and my dad and brother were chill and didn’t pretend to know more about than me or my mom.
Know a girl who started at 9 but luckily her family was used to somewhat precocious puberty so she was well informed and even though we live in a red state, in the heartland of the states, and we went to a super religious private school she got good info at home
My mum got her first period at 11 or 12 back in the early 1940s. At the time that was exceptionally early so my grandma hadn’t told her the facts of life. When she started bleeding she literally thought she was dying.
I was 8 (almost 9) and had no clue what was going on. Nobody told me anything. I knew it was something that was going to happen, due to observation of women in my life…. But I thought once it started, it lasted forever. It lasted almost 2 weeks before a friend told me she talked to her mom and found out it’s only supposed to last a week +/-. I was so relieved I almost cried. 🤦🏻♀️
I got mine at 11 and my mom had explained enough to me before that and let me go to the maturation class. I literally just took care of it myself and asked her for extra pads. No big deal at all.

I had a conversation with my stepmom about how my periods seemed to be worse, with the pain and duration of it lasting longer. I was in so much pain while discussing it. My father was in the kitchen with us when I was talking about it and asked me to stop talking about it because ‘it’s not appropriate to discuss my womanhood in front of my father’ and if it hurt so bad, I needed to just take some ibuprofen and try to tough it up. After I finally saw a doctor for my problem, I finally found out that because of my prolonged exposure to a medication I was taking for one of the autoimmune diseases I have, it had finally caught up to me in messing with my hormones and had practically made me infertile. My father was upset at the fact that the family bloodline will end with me, and told me if I had previously found a better way to manage my already out of control body, that I would not have this problem.
Oh well, as a non-daughther of your father and a woman having hard times with her period right now, I will autorize myself to call your dad stupid for you without any emotional nor moral repercussions, while taking you out of the ecuation, thank you and good night.

34:25 this is actually way more common than people realize, my mom had chronic backpain for years and couldn't get any help from any male doctors because she was "just being dramatic" or "saying all of that for attention". i myself have even had problems with this when i was having horrible stomach pain, and was told that i was being over dramatic and that it was all just emotions. later found out the pain was from celiac disease.
Very common. Chronic migraines run in my family. My grandparent had it, my aunt, mom, niece and nephew. But my doctor was convinced it was just stress. Yeah no, got my diagnoses SEVEN years later. And this is in a country with free health care.
I was told by an ER doctor that I couldn't possibly have a kidney stone because I 'wasn't in enough pain' imagine the look on his face after they admitted me for what turned out to be a massive kidney stone. Also, heaven help you if you have ever had even the slightest issue with depression or are overweight. Then it's always you being a whining pathetic person for any doctor that just can't be bothered to do his damn job!
Worse: back and hip and knee problems when you are female *and* obese. You make it all up, and if not, it is your weight. Losing 50 or so kg is so easy, especially when a surgically drastically reduced stomach is already applied … and the weight stays …
I remember being told by female gynaecologist I shouldn't complain about my very painful periods. And that "it gets better after you give birth so maybe you should consider that :)". Never before I switched doctors so fast. The same goes for my migraines. It took me going through 5 doctors before I found neurologist who took me seriously :/
I find the 'women cant have babies after 30' argument hilarious because im walking proof against that. My mom had me past thirty and then 4 years after me she had my sister. And we were both very healthy babies .

While wearing a uniform that would make even the bustiest of girls look like a washing board, one of the boys complained to an officer that me putting my hair up made him feel uncomfortable because it "made my chest poke out". The officer in question, a gentleman in his mid to late 60s, looked this boy up and down and responded with "keep your eyes in your skull and to yourself, because if you don't the girls will rip them out." My school took all 9yo students and did two separate lesson types. The first lesson was by our normal teachers, regardless of gender, and went over all the technical stuff. Then they split us up by body parts and had the "boys" ask the male teacher any detailed questions, and the "girls" ask the two female teachers any detailed questions. Then, and here was the best part: The teachers took all of the questions we had asked them, and integrated the most meaningful questions into our health education lessons. That meant we had an extremely well rounded batch of students, that year. It was a pilot program that began that year, and it worked extremely well for us. @@markedwards3647 This is how dumb these people are, they are so afraid that they are going to have to deal with gayness, that they are desperately looking for any kind of pre-emptive strike to prevent it.
@@NoaThePineconeTaker The term trans lesbian doesn't make sense. A lesbian is a female exclusively attracted to females. A male exclusively attracted to females is a straight man. Now i know you're gonna cry transphobia or spout some gender nonsense but at the end of the day, biology doesn't care about imaginary concepts such as gender.
as a woman i whole heartedly agree with the fake boobs with cancer examples. I am 39 and have had a few scares where i happen to feel a "lump" only to be told its nothing but a gland that was enlarged because of my period and some how i had never noticed it. I still have very little knowledge about what exactly im feeling for and just hope i catch it if something is there.
Such models are already a thing, the gyn office i used to go to had one, the lumps usually feel sharp like tiny stones in those. When you find suspicious lumps during self examination remember that glands will react to the hormonal cycle. Try to remember where the lump was and how big it was, then reexamine it after your period. It should get smaller if it was just a part of the gland.
@@TheMagicalMew oh i never heard the stone reference before. Its really a shame how little the sex education teaches especially back in the 80-90s when i had it.

My mom got me an American Girl Puberty book when I was like-11. It talked about periods and the different kinds of care products. It helped a lot. She was proactive partly because when she got her period, her mother hadn't talked to her about it, and she had it while at school and understandably freaked tf out. Thanks mom!
"The care and keeping of you!" I love that book, I bought copies for all my nieces when they were 7/8 gave them to their parents to give them when they thought appropriate. One of my sister-in-law's had hers when she was 8, I had mine when I was 11.
Same! My grandma never told my mother about anything. So when I was 12 she did the same thing. Went to the library, got a book and told me about everything.
My mother was also very proactive when I was growing up to make sure I learned about my body and periods and all the things. The American Girl book is GOLD. It baffles me to this day how many women I’ve grown up with who didn’t know until we got into undergrad/20s how important self checks and going to the gynecologist is. Women’s health and anatomy needs to be a larger focus by all the peoples. Dear goodness, folks.
I remember that book, I still have my copy. I remember being so excited when reading about getting a period and attempting to gaslight my school nurse into thinking I’d gotten my period lmao
I'm a pediatrician and recommend this for a lot of families with children who are afab. Was nice to see that it is something that helped you. Some parents have a hard time approaching certain topics, so books can provide a good outline for them to read and talk with their kids.
As a trans man, bad women's anatomy is sometimes incredibly affirming. Like yeah, I'm a man because I have butt hair. I'll take it lmao Edit: I guess I'm nonbinary 🤷 only took me 8 years of transitioning ftm to figure that out 🥴
My ex-best friend and her husband both in their 30's came to me, sat me down like they were going to tell me some horrible news, and proceeded to tell me she was dying because when they had intercourse all her eggs came out on him. I was floored and confused about wth they were talking about so I told them to explain and they described what it looked like. No joke they were describing her starting her period and what they noticed on him was simply normal tiny clots. I had to sit there and explain a woman's anatomy and biology to two grown adults that had been together/married for at least 13 years
@Rowan Phillips There are many reasons why a adult wouldn't know about their own body. School not teaching them well, when they were learning about their bodies the adults in their life either thought it was taboo or didn't know much themselves, etc.
@@rowanphillips3497 because many schools, especially in the US, have very bad to no sex ed at all. In middle school health class I was taught that periods last 4 days and happen every 28 days. Like that this is a fact. So naturally pretty much everyone in the room who'd already started their period was confused. The teacher threw in some half-assed "Oh, there's some variation when you start" and that was it. The entire reproductive unit for both reproductive systems took one class period. Thankfully my high school health teacher went a bit more in depth...by straying from the curriculum.

The real concern with taking a BATH as apposed to a shower while pregnant is if the water is too hot it can raise your core temp to the point that it can mess up the development of the baby’s spine. Which is why some babies can be born with spina bifida. My medical team also recommended that since I prefer hot showers, it may be safer to just not let my pregnant belly stay under the hot water for long. Just to be safe.
The ponytail thing is actually a thing in some schools in Japan too. I watch some Japanese native UA-camrs who have talked about it. Though, it's more a concern on the adults who made the rules than any teenage girls or boys. It's hella sus.
Also I find the people enforcing it alarmingly creepy. My school wanted to make uniforms happen because the school next to us had uniforms, but everyone voted against it because we saw everyday how the gym teacher (of that school) would measure the skirt length and the shirt opening for the girls but conveniently passed all the boys.
It seems to me that whomever made the rule that the hair has to be in a ponytail the whole day without re-doing it has never had long hair. I may be a man, but I've had long hair for most of my life, in a ponytail, and sometimes it just has to be re-done. It depends mostly on physical activities and the condition of my hair and the hair tie, but sometimes strands of hair get loose or the tie slips and I just have to re-do the hair tie. Sure it's not daily, but also not something you can totally prevent. Also, who thinks that guys getting inappropriately excited about a girl's innocent actions should be the girl's problem? You'd have to ban girls from existing because anything can set some guys off, much better that the guys learn some self control, that is a useful skill your whole life.

Nobody should get to decide about politics that affect the kids who are now young, while the boomers will soon die and not have to face climate change for much longer...
Even scarier when you find out they blame all the things they don't like into one party and all the things they do like into another. When they are shown they were wrong, you can hear their tiny world shatter. But they don't learn from it, and a few months later, either they forget the things that they got wrong or go back to remembering things wrong.
It’s not even so much of a beauty standard now (to have clean shave), it’s just something some puritan conservative dumb people worry about. And only because of these people a lot of women are pressured into shaving, sigh. Every sane person I know who’s open about sexuality finds both hair and no hair sexy in a different way.
I've been told that's still a popular beauty standard in France. Though for all I know my mom could've been joking with me or the standards have changed there since last time she went.
I went to school with a girl who was being raised by her single father...I think her mama had died...she started her period very suddenly at 8 or 9. Very heavy cycles with lots of cramping and her father was useless in that area. Luckily, my mom was around and talked to her about it a bit so she would be less scared. She had no one. None of the other girls we were around started that young and she had no older sisters or even female family members, apparently. It was kind of sad. Our SE classes introduced us to the ancient, lost art of putting a condom on a damn banana, like that helped us a lot. SE in the 80's sucked ass.
Considering that an elected Representative of Missouri thought that a pregnancy could be chosen by the mother in cases of r@pe or in¢est, these examples don't surprise me as much as they should. This entire video is a testimony to why all children need to have biology based, comprehensive sex education before puberty begins (which would be during elementary school), and then again during middle school and high school.
The amount of stigma and misconceptions around periods honestly annoys me. It is a natural part of life and not discussing it doesn’t make it any less real. I’m very open when it comes to talking about periods and reproductive health with my friends both male and female (when it is appropriate) and the conversation always brings something new and educational. I’ve learned a lot of coping mechanisms for cramps from other girls I’ve spoken with and taught plenty of my guy friends about how tampons work and how to get blood out of clothes. I got my first period when I was 9 and I thought I was dying because no one had told me about it before, I would have had much less anxiety around it if people had had those conversations with me from a young age. Discussing periods with young men, women, ect is beneficial to everyone, it lets young girls know what they’re in for, it brings understanding for future relationships with women or having daughters later in life or even just understanding sisters. Things would be much better if everyone just sucked it up and had those much needed conversations.
Hey I’m the same here! Except I’m more using birth control because my periods cause me so much pain normally and I literally can’t move sometimes. Though I’m asexual too, I’m still indifferent about having kids.
@@VantaDraws IUD stands for Intrauterine Device. It’s a small device that someone with a uterus can get implanted as a type of birth control and hormone regulation. My school and Girl Scouts gave us that talk, but a female medical condition runs in my mom’s family that makes them heavier and more painful than what the average person experiences. Mom ADMITTED she just didn’t want to give us that talk, despite the medical history. I plan to have age appropriate anatomy talks with my kids when I have them once they’re old enough to understand. Especially is I have a daughter.
I was talking to this super conservative woman. She said that sex ed "Should only be between a man and woman on their wedding night.". When I informed her that sex ed also teaches about puberty, and teaches females about periods. She responded with "Yes! That should be between her and her husband on their wedding night!". 😱🤢🤮 Who still marries off their daughters as children?! And how is her "husband" going to teacher her about periods?! No. Just no. 🤮 I also must add that this wasn't an older women where child "marriage" was "normal" in their day. This woman was in her 30's.
32:04 I remember my S*x Ed classes starting with us writing anonymous questions and putting them in a box, which were read and answered by the teacher. Mine was whether girls produced milk due to pregnancy or puberty, and several students laughed when it was read. I thought they were rude, because the whole point of the activity was to ask questions, and that was a perfectly reasonable question to ask (at that age).
I was the kid who put 'what is a condom' in the anonymous question box because I, a 13 year old at that time, had never heard the word before, the class also laughed a lot at that. That's why they're anonymous I suppose, still stings in the moment though I feel ya I also, for the record, thought I had cancer when I started growing breast tissue. Puberty is just a bundle of worries lol
Answer: Kind of both, but puberty only indirectly. Puberty enables you to get pregnant, and the mammary glands grow. Pregnancy hormones, further mammary gland growth etc. prepare you for brestfeeding. Women often start to produce small amounts of milk before giving birth. The hormonal changes after giving birth (especially birth of placenta) and the stimulation by a suckling baby enable milk production on a larger scale. So the most direct causes for milk production are giving birth and/or having a baby suckle at your breast. New mothers will stsrt to produce milk even if they don't breastfeed (there are medicine to stop this), and it is possible to start milk production solely through stimulation, without having been pregnant (used by e.g. non-birthing mothers in lesbian couples). Also, some medications can cause milk production, even in cis men.
Model breasts demonstrating different types of tumors and growths do exist! It's how we were taught the breast exam in my medical school. But I can definitely see how making them more accessible would increase patient autonomy and education!
Those and the testicles equivalent should be health class standard though you would need a large variety to cover all the presentations. Along with smokers lungs vs clean lungs.
I would really appreciate it because I have absolutely no idea how to perform a self breast exam and this would help me visualise it greatly too. Most accessible educational videos about the topic are stupidly censored and only show clothed people because feminine breasts are sexualised. It really does a disservice.

@@trishapellis The thing is, if women have Secondary Amenorrhea(Absent Periods), its literally a health condition that shouldn't be ignored as it might be something that needs to be addressed to like stress, eating habits, PCOS(Polycystic Ovary Syndrome), hyperthyroidism/hypothyroidism(the really concerning one), and Pregnancy/breastfeeding. With chest hair, its not that much of a health concern as much as having amenorrhea(or absence if menstruation) as long as these conditions do not apply to: 1. Girls that do not have a rare condition that makes them enter a puberty cycle before the ages of 8 to 10. 2. A teenager during puberty. 3. A woman in menopause. 4. Pregnancy. 5. Breastfeeding. So not, that is not as comparable as chest hair, medically speaking. As long as you have Amenorrhea without those specific conditions, then they should most likely go to a doctor. Meanwhile chest hair is dependent on your hormones that determine it. There are also more concerning abnormal Period cycles like Menorrhagia and Polymenorrhea(Prolonged, Heavy Bleeding), Amenorrhea, Dysmenorrhea(excess pain during period), Hypomenorrhea(Extra Light Periods). This due to the likely symptoms that causes them to happen, not the condition itself. In comparison to chest hair(in which women can also get it), Amenorrhea, Dysmenorrhea, Hypomenorrhea, and Menorrhagia is something you have to keep tabs on even when you're healthy. Disclaimer; I am not a Gynecologist nor do I work on the medical field(except for my interest in Paramedics, but its actually extremely expensive). So take it with a grain of salt. tldr; Although the health concerns surrounding Amenorrhea is in fact there, its not as comparable as chest hair due to one factor: Health and living conditions that affect absent periods. From benign stuff such as, excessive exercise, Stress, Prefnat(yes I am going to make the Pregante joke), and breastfeeding to slightly or really concerning ones such as Thyroid disorders, Eating disorders, and PCOS. The only completely concerning cause for Amenorrhea are Thyroid disorders(and some I do not know, since that is not my field so take it in a grain of salt), as it has more pressing issues that come along with it. Amenorrhea is not a disease but it can be a symptom of another condition. Although what I am talking about is mainly things related to secondary Amenorrhea. There also a lot more things that even I couldn't type about Primary and Secondary Amenorrhea.
@@trishapellis also, no. Secondary Amenorrhea is more inclined to being caused by other health conditions, mostly benign, but some being really concerning. Unlike Chest hair that is mostly caused by hormonal changes in the body, and is rarely linked to any other health disorders, while Secondary Amenorrhea can be symptoms of different health issues(especially if its a Thyroid disorder).
"If they were fit enough to be elite athletes, why would they be having periods?!" That actually made my chest hurt like I got punched, being so muscular that your period stops means you're so low body fat you can't support that function anymore and it is beyond extremely unhealthy. Is that man trying to end the world population or something?! Holy crap. I'm sure there is worse in this video but now I need destress before watching the rest lmao,
It's not the muscle/fat ratio that matters, it's just how exhausted the body is. Those things often correlate, but it's not the cause. And it's worth noting that not having periods has been sustained by some elite athletes for months or even years. Not getting periods for that reason is certainly unhealthy, but it's not catastrophic by itself, the problem is more that a permanently exhausted athlete is more likely to get injured. It's like a red(no bad wordplays intended)flag that men don't have the luck of having.
yeahh thats the sorta shit that happens in famine situations. your body diverts resources from non essential functions like reproduction into literally keeping you alive. and there have been studies showing that even after the famine situation is over, and the menses restart, this leaves physiological consequences that go beyond lifelong, even affecting epigenomic regulation in future children; the genes which regulate metabolism and energy storage regulation are suppressed, producing children with a predisposition to weight gain. youtube hates links or I would find the study in question, but it was based on the children of famine survivors in the netherlands, who experienced deprivation due to blockades during WW2.
Generally, if you should be getting periods and stop for no reason, it's because your body can't support the function and is generally an indication of being unhealthy/malnourished

There is a bit of a point there, but it also happens through the normal cycle - at peak fertility women tend to be more attracted to the handsome stranger and otherwise to the good, solid provider, not to the guy who’ll be gone before dawn to enjoy some other girl some villages over … Hormonal birth control basically tells the body that it is pregnant (hence the ovaries stay dormant, hence there’s nothing sperm can make a clump of cells with that might be a baby down the line) and then a spontaneous abort at the end of the pill cycle - something that happens all the time in nature and is unnoticed in almost all cases). That removes the fertility - by design! - and hence also the fertility peak. As women are as varied as humans come (surprise!) the individual reactions to hormonal birth control vary WIDELY. But that is of course way too complicated for Twitter science.
@H1rhs33 true true, although wtf is that even? Cuz if it's based on how masculine someone is, I'd say my boyfriend is pretty masculine... he fits into a lot of stereotypes of what a man should be, but without the toxic aspects of it, apart from bits like his anger issues that he's been learning to manage very well. So is being a Beta Male just being a mentally healthy man? Cuz in that case, why the hell would I ever want an lesser Alpha bitch? It's so stupid that it's funny. If that was the case then incels wouldn't be a thing, because women on BC would fall head over heels for them, and there are millions of women on BC. Unless of course all the incels are actually alpha males, or zeta males? Omega males? Then I guess women on BC wouldn't want them, since they apparently only want beta males
Fun story. I used to be a labor and delivery nurse. Epidurals are common in my area and when an epidural is in place you can't feel your bladder filling. During labor, a large bladder can obstruct delivery so we use a catheter to keep the bladder empty. Depending on where you are this is either one that you put in and leave in or one that you use every X amount of hours and remove after draining. With the first type we would have women - adults - some older adults - say "if you leave that in there how will the baby get out? That tube is going to block my v****a and prevent the baby from coming out". This wasn't a once or twice thing over the years, this was almost daily. I can't count the number of times I've gone to the whiteboard and drawn a vulva showing that women have 3 holes and the catheter goes in the top hole and the baby comes out of the middle hole. Grown-ass cis-female adults think they pee out of their vaginas. America needs to do better with basic anatomy in schools coz the parents sure as sh!t aren't doing their part.
You do not need to know anything for total abstention only and for the rest, do you not have your instincts that will tell you what is right? Less awkward. More informative. Also? Split sexuality and anatomy / body functions. It's important to know how vulvas and penises work (ideally even to know that there are also inter people who don't have a distinct penis or vulva). Stuff like “you pee from a THIRD hole and this is the urethra, and it's important to avoid bacteria getting in there so you don't get UTIs, which is more likely for those with a vulva cause the urethra is a shorter tube“ .... this is not at all about sexuality or gender, this is simply anatomy. We teach how bones and muscles work, don't leave out genitals, they are simply body parts. AND: teach boys and girls and inter kids all about ALL the genitals. If you assume the boys will be cis and straight, they WILL date someone with a vulva and vagina and THEY BETTER KNOW HOW THAT BODY WORKS. Teach them about periods and urethras and everything else. This is not knowledge that should be limited to be taught to girls. and vice versa. There is so much simply about bodies that isn't even about sexuality. I can remember the King of the Hill episode concerning the female friend (Connie) of the son character (Bobby) getting her first period and how she had to awkwardly tell the main character, Hank, what happened because he was taking care of her while her parents (and his wife) were out of town. As much as he was freaking out and uncomfortable, he certainly wasn't hiding from her the fact he didn't know what to do about it since his mother wasn't around enough to teach him, and his wife (Peggy) didn't want to involve him, nor did he have his own daughter. It helped me understand a lot about the men's side of when a girl goes through her first period and how it's difficult for both sides. So yes, make more cartoons or animated sitcoms about the topic for both sides sake! Because it really isn't an adult thing-only, and frankly it's a fact of life if you're going to live with a woman, might as well learn early how to deal with it. Maybe then there'd be less men who are clueless about the bleed.
The internet and books exist. If men really wanted to know, they would, especially if they’re involving themselves with women. I can manage my own body, but I’ll be dammed if that’s an excuse to date someone ignorant
@@kissit012 Sadly the internet is not as informative as it should be in my experience, but what I'm really getting at is visibility. Access to the information is not the problem, never was. It's getting people to pay attention. People love to see things to believe it, especially men.
For the athletes period one, it's true that sometimes if you lose weight fast and are super fit you may stop getting periods but that's not a particularly good thing, happened to me when I was anorexic, but saying all athletes shouldn't have periods? Fuckin wild
Yes, losing periods means your body is overstressed and started to cut off less important body functions in order to survive. Obviously, it is not a good thing.

@@markedwards3647 Why would i stop citing him? If i start to stop citing idiots I can't cite anyone anymore because Humans in General are Idiots. getting your periods should not be compared to boners or other sexual stuff, it should be compared to like, your voice breaking for example, yeah its akward and a lot of men are embarassed about it when it first happens but if they arent taught about it they might get scared and confused or think theyre sick or something
yeah like you don’t bleed when ur horny ☠️
I mean... it IS comparable though.
@@diarmuidkuhle8181 this comment is like half a year old, damn i hate when people reply to old as fuck shit
I agree, to me as long as she's comfortable then I am ok
Yeah as a guy the whole virgin thing to me is so icky, women don't lose 'value' and become 'used' from having sex .... they're human beings not an object or a pair of shoes or something. @akasaki is correct, it's about power and taking something from someone who isn't in a position to know otherwise.

It also goes worse when they are corrected by women than other men unless the man is perceived to be gay then its a toss up
That logic is flawed though, sometimes they are legitimately wrong. Such as a girl I went to highschool with who swore you could drown a fetus in the bath, or had to drink milk in order to produce it, despite my insistence it was false.

(Of course, this being a Mormon school, the main thing they said about sex was "Don't until you're married." This didn't stop rumours flying about any female student who even slightly had a belly, however.)

I was 10 when I got my first period. Since then they have been horribly painful, heavy, and last for several days. When I was 22, I was living with my father and stepmother.
At this point just throw out the whole father. He clearly doesn't care about you as a person.
Have you told your father he failed as a parent with his behavior?
Sorry you had to get that diagnosis. That sucks.
Tell dear dad that his bad genes and his bad parenting ended his line, thank you very much.
The fact that your dad got mad at you for that is VERY stupid. He should of treated you better. Sorry for your diagnoses. hope your doing well.

Ah yes right, the good old "women are hysterical" issue.

My school took all 9yo students and did two separate lesson types.
All I know is that I, an aromatic asexual virgin, was considered the fountain of knowledge in high school-- and I find that hilarious even now.

I’m asexual and on birth control so i simply choose not to have periods since I wasn’t using those body parts anyway
If we could really do this we’d be unstoppable I swear
@@VantaDraws IUD will stop periods. I have one. It's great. Judtvfyi.

18:43 It may not be as much of a defining feature, but milk is present in all mammals, including us.
Almond milk is almond juice, the juice is just being used as a milk substitute, but substitute or replacement are long words so they’re not usually included.
When I was younger, no one told me about periods, I wish someone did instead of pretending they weren’t a thing.
So feel you. I was royal freaking out from bleeding and the cramps were painful. But mom did take me in and make sure I was alright since they were really painful that time.
A friend of mine actually got her period when she was 8. In school. She didnt know what it was and litterally panicked
I was talking to this super conservative woman. She said that sex ed "Should only be between a man and woman on their wedding night.". When I informed her that sex ed also teaches about puberty, and teaches females about periods. She responded with "Yes! That should be between her and her husband on their wedding night!". 😱🤢🤮
Who still marries off their daughters as children?! And how is her "husband" going to teacher her about periods?! No. Just no. 🤮
I also must add that this wasn't an older women where child "marriage" was "normal" in their day.

That’s the way to go. Kids be kids tho, that’s a bit sad
i wouldnt have laughed at that. now, what was funny was the guy who was on here previously who believed that women lactated when they came...
I was the kid who put 'what is a condom' in the anonymous question box because I, a 13 year old at that time, had never heard the word before, the class also laughed a lot at that. That's why they're anonymous I suppose, still stings in the moment though I feel ya
I also, for the record, thought I had cancer when I started growing breast tissue. Puberty is just a bundle of worries lol
@@comradewindowsill4253 I blame hentai for that.
There are testicle models
For this as well.
Was looking for this comment. I agree, I wish it was more accessible. I happened to discover one at a health fair.
It really does a disservice.
i’m 18 and still feel like a child 😭 it’s scary how many older men think that it’s an okay and not creepy age to go after. 16? that’s just pedophelia and horrifying. at 16 i was nowhere near ready to make life altering choices for myself. these men probably know that. but they don’t care and seek out young girls that think they’re much older than they are and take advantage of them. it’s so gross

Periods are more comparable to chest hair and voice drops than anything else
but.....I don't have chest hair, despite being a man. Maybe Nipple hair, but I don't think its considered chest hair.
@@ousamadearudesuwa Some women only bleed very little for like one or two days, others bleed heavily for closer to five days. Some get a little, some get a lot. And of course, some women just don't get periods at all for whatever reason.
So yes, it's comparable 😉
Women experience voice changes also. And chest hair. Anything a man has, a woman has an equivalent since men come from, and begin as women. We have more hormones and our (X) chromosomes are larger
@@trishapellis
The thing is, if women have Secondary Amenorrhea(Absent Periods), its literally a health condition that shouldn't be ignored as it might be something that needs to be addressed to like stress, eating habits, PCOS(Polycystic Ovary Syndrome), hyperthyroidism/hypothyroidism(the really concerning one), and Pregnancy/breastfeeding. With chest hair, its not that much of a health concern as much as having amenorrhea(or absence if menstruation) as long as these conditions do not apply to:
Lmao, it’s not like the planet is underpopulated. I would think it’s more of a health concern for those athletes if anything.
Generally, if you should be getting periods and stop for no reason, it's because your body can't support the function and is generally an indication of being unhealthy/malnourished
Naw, he's just hitting back at female athletes because he's not good enough for them. Don't let him get to you; pity him and move on.

Amongst women in my family, they usually start between eight to 10, which makes that statement so baffling.

If we were to assume the logic was valid which it isn't. The solution is that your bf is a beta
There is a bit of a point there, but it also happens through the normal cycle - at peak fertility women tend to be more attracted to the handsome stranger and otherwise to the good, solid provider, not to the guy who’ll be gone before dawn to enjoy some other girl some villages over …
Hormonal birth control basically tells the body that it is pregnant (hence the ovaries stay dormant, hence there’s nothing sperm can make a clump of cells with that might be a baby down the line) and then a spontaneous abort at the end of the pill cycle - something that happens all the time in nature and is unnoticed in almost all cases).

They sound like the exact opposite of an objectively smart choice to mate with lol
My mom had my oldest brother at 30 and me at 40! Delivering a total of 4 kids in those 10 years proves that YES YOU CAN HAVE KIDS AFTER 30.
Well my mum hat me at 0. It took me all these YEARS to become 30. :P
28:55 This guy obviously doesn't know that the genetic quality of sperm deteriorates rapidly as men age. 🤦♀
Oh no.
(but also, how can the parents "do their part" if even they don't know???)
You do not need to know anything for total abstention only and for the rest, do you not have your instincts that will tell you what is right?
It’s like comparing prices at the supermarket when each product is listed in a different currency and you have not ever learned the glyphs representing the price for most of them: don’t buy unless you are sure and then your instincts will tell you.
My school did a terrible job and I'm assuming most kids were like "are we done yet? Ok so now I know my body is going to change is some mysterious ways. Got it." That was literally it. 'Your bodies are going to change soon. How? Well I don't know, I'm a math teacher.' We were told that all we needed to know was hairy armpits and smelly feet and it was even split by gender which they didn't do anything with. Luckily my parent taught me I needed to know but not everyone has that and I would have thought the only things were armpits and feet
NOT TO MENTION the school literally sent out a thing saying they were teaching us this so my parent wasn't going to know I wasn't learning anything
@@advorak8529 the instincts for sexuality only lead to humans having sex, not them knowing anything about it. It took humans a while to even figure out that penetrative sex and babies are correlating.
We need more than instincts, we need to know how things work, that is actually a human “instinct“, which is why we began doing science. We want to know everything. And we should.
@@chancewill6910 yeah, same here.... all i got from it was “ok so there will be hair and blood AND awkwardness. Thanks, i guess. i hope we never have this topic at school EVER again. They even split us into girls and boys to make space for our questions. My group did not have a single question, we all sat there hoping it'd be over soon.
Should it be over? No. It should be BETTER.
Sexuality is a whole other topic which is important, but not the same as teaching anatomy!
