Loved the showcase of Alicent's hypocrisy being the reason why the war starts. Brilliant edit. This show isn't about Aegon and Rhaenyra. It's about two friends, two sisters, who were torn apart by duty and desire.
@anikethchakraborty3238 fair but in this interpretation her instilling the fear of being killed is what stoked the rivalry and then she "misheard" what Viserys said. And then she tries to make bargain with Rhaenyra wiping her hands of responsibility. It's in large part cause of her and her family.
Alicent alone is not to blame for the Dance. Half a dozen of the adults and even some of the younger members had a part to play House Targaryen destroyed itself, and a few other major/minor houses were involved and even suffered as well. The smallfolk got the worst of it
The war started for a lot of reasons. The show presents the narrative that the blacks are in the right and the greens are in the wrong but the book is a bit more nuanced and less biased and the relationship between Alicent and Rhaenyra is a lot different in the books due to them both having different ages when Alicent marries Viserys and and Rhaenyra is named heir. But even in the show, the war does not start due to Alicent's hyprocisy, it is just one of many different reasons with them all going back to Viserys being voted king in the Great Council years before. The war was going to happen no matter what the moment Rhaenyra was named heir and Viserys then decided to marry and have not one, not two, but three legitmate sons who normally would be ahead of Rhaenyra in the line of succession. Plus Viserys really did fuck all to help support Rhaenyra so I personally see him as more at fault of the war then any other character.
I'm Team Black all the way but I really think Alicent (and her son Aegon) is by far the most tragic character of the series. She never wanted any of that but she was "a good daughter", she was "a good woman", so she did what was expected of her and what her father asked of her. Even when her best friend turned on her (not blaming Rhaenyra, she was dealing with her own grief) she kept doing what she was suppossed to, being a good and obedient daughter/wife/woman, not speaking up or against, not complaining about how freaking miserable her life was. Am I saying she has no blame or is not responsible for what she caused? Hell no! But every time she doubles down it feels to me like a gambler's Sunken Cost Fallacy. Every thing she has done she has done because she thinks (rightfully or not) that that's what a man above her wants: her father and Vyseris (his "death wish" of course but I'd argue also generally helping rule the kingdom). The only thing she actually did for herself was being a spiteful b*tch to Rhaenyra while their children where growing up, and honestly how could she not? She was literally trapped in a palace watching her enjoy life and face no repercusion while doing whatever she wanted (her very obvious gay husband, her very obvious affair, her very obvious bastard sons...) while she was utterly miserable even though she was the one following all the rules, she was "the good woman". And yet none of all matter. Everything she sacrificed, everything other people chose for her, she never got her reward for being A Good Woman
this is just. PHENOMENAL. a perfect edit. you managed to capture the core themes of this show sooooo incredibly well. i love your editing choices. the sound/transition of the blood dripping down rhaenyra’s arm to the shot of the bleeding weirwood. impeccable. more on your use of sound, your use of silence to amplify the dramatic tension (and ofc highlight key dialogue) is so effective. i got chills! i’ll be thinking about this for days.
And that's what this series should be called; Clash of Queens. And if that was I would understand season 2 but unfortunately, overall, season was weak. However, relationship between these two is beautiful and tragic, thank you for this video!
4:27 - ‘The Dragons Dance, and men are like dust beneath their feet’ Amazing synergy of video with the dialogue! Awesome video SWFT!!

blaming the Queen alone is crazy, the Dance of the Dragons took place for many reasons

Alicent chose her side, made her bed, dug her grave and she must live with that and lie in it.
