So cool to see your thought process for this! I'm using an Ibanez AZ and I downloaded this from the cloud and it sounds so different haha probably because I have humbuckers (??). I'm still trying to get a hang of the quad cortex, have you uploaded any tones or done any videos with the QC using a guitar with humbuckers? Thanks!
I bought the QC 4 days ago, being a Helix user for the past 6 years I can assure you that the QC is by far superior in sounds and feel. I was amazed when compared them side by side, honestly my go to preset in the Helix that took me months to polish sounded like crap when compared to a QC preset that I’ve made in just 10 minutes. I still love the Helix and I’m not selling it but the QC is in another level to be honest.
Thanks for this, I have been using the Cory wong set ups since I got mine a few months ago and embarrassingly enough I really haven't looked much further into the pedal! this was exactly what I was looking for. When I saw all the signal paths, I really didn't understand before how it all operated, but this makes it all so easy! Thanks!
Interesting to see your QC "Gigging" strategy for setting up quick access for the sounds you'd generally need. I've been thinking about the same thing for the HX Stomp using the "Stomp Mode" and the ability to assign a couple different Blocks to the same button and switch between them on sequential presses of the same button. Figuring out the best/most useful and logical pairing of Blocks per button might be worth a video. I'd be interested in hearing what your thinking is for selecting which Blocks to pair. Thanks
I have a lot more effects in my patch and use a combination of drives and amp drive for gain staging. I use an MC8 to change scenes and keep the QC in stomp mode. I don't use the effects all that much, only one song needs a Leslie for example. But I like having everything in one patch so I can change things up in the song if needed.
How and when would you use that big physical volume knob on top left of the device? QC says to always have it at 100% (unity), what do you think of this?
The footswiches doubling as rotary encoders really bugs me in several different ways. I look forward to hearing how you get on with it, at your gig. Cheers, D
Very nice, thanks! I just got the unit today and this helped me a lot. I just don't understand why you turned the output of the second amp down to zero instead of just disabling it in those presets. In the 'chain' view it looks like that amp is still used (and 'on') for the presets where you have turned the output to zero, I would think this may be confusing, seeing an amp block as 'active' where it is turned to zero. Am I missing something? Cheers!
Hey Pat, so yes, what you are missing is that they're independent paths, so bypassing the Amp model would just have your guitar running through that path still, only without the Amp on. What you're suggesting would work for a series style signal path though
Hey John, thanks, I think I understand now. Turning down the output of an amp block totally 'stops' the signal from going any further though that path. (So the CPU would still do all the 'amp' work but the result will never get heard). So if you stop the signal in one path, the other path would be the only one producing sound at the end and this approach gives you 2 independent paths in one preset. Got it, thanks!
I just sold my Helix floor last week and learning my way on the QC... I kept the HX Stomp XL as reference for my presets... but now I have to redo like 30 Helix presets into the QC... its going to take many days.
How about tones for us gigging guitarists that don’t get to play ambient textures… We have to play a lot of pop and modern country/rock. I’ve played around with my Helix, and Headrush Gigboard for years, and it just gets lost in the mix. Lately, I’ve been using the HX effects into a Strymon Iridium, and it’s pretty good in most situations, but you’re at the mercy of the monitor and FOH mix
I believe you can drag blocks to other Rows and it will copy them. For example, when you created the Rhythm tone, you could’ve just dragged the amp and cab to the third row and it would’ve copied them…just a bit of a time saver
I went to a jam in London the other day, and the house guitarist had a QC…he had to explain to every guitarist that got up what all his main presets were, and when I got up…it glitched out and he had to reset it cause it had no sound 😩 not to mention it sounded terrible in the FoH…not the best first impression playing the thing, I wish it sounded like how you have it sounding!
Aaaahhhh so confusing when someone whips through the buttons so fast for someone just learning. Lost me when you started turning something off to go to another section?
Nah, its just not in your budget and thats fine, you wish it was cheaper cos u really want it, me too! i had to have a long think when it was in my basket and stop myself to choose hx stomp xl for now. you wait for the updates itl be worth every penny. But desperate times call for sensible choices 😉
@@chrisfit because you may need it later for the cost of living crisis?? 😂 Maybe just tight then, lot has gone into their product if u think about it 🤔 their running costs as a smaller company plus inflation. Component shortage etc
I only know prices in Euro, but - it's 50 Euros above the price of a Kemper stage - 500 Euros below the price of a FM9 Of course I would like it cheaper, but I don't think it's overpriced.
Thanks for doing the QC scene build John!!!👍

Wow, spectacular playing on that intro piece!
It’s amazing how quickly you can get a QC preset going. I feel like it takes a whole lot less time then a preset on Helix or Fractal.

Love the pitch meeting reference in this hahah
Hi
Been following your vids and trying to set my QC up with them.
What are you using to record/amplify your sound?
Thanks 😊
Those buttons twist parameters too 😂
What power amp are you running into? Im looking to get one of these but for non venue/non PA jams, I am not sure what to use for the power amp.
Was that a Ryan George/Pitch Meeting reference you threw in there?! Haha!!!

Post-gig report - yes please. Love those videos from your live gigs so if there's any of that to share :)
John - how did you get the sequence sound on this track? Is that the QC? How can I download this preset?
Jonathan, what if any changes did you make to this preset after gigging with it? EQ differences, etc?? Cheers!
Gret work

Would there be a benefit in swapping a helix floor for a QC? Other than form factor

There wouldn’t be any difference with this piece of equipment to address those issues though really.

Not anymore unfortunately, they removed that feature which was silly in my opinion! It was useful
@@pillowhead4000 well, that stinks - but you can copy/paste blocks, though. So, that would still be faster than adding/scrolling through amps/cabs.
I thought you would set it up by songs.

To me at least, the QC is overpriced. I get it’s nice but I feel like it should be about $500-700 cheaper.
