The tune you hummed was Children by Robert Miles. The problem with 90s dance music is you know all the songs but its very difficult to remember all the artist names and songs and when you're trying to find an instrumental song you forgot the name of its tough.
Totally agree, I’ve learned loads from using loopers (and lost many hours in the process!). I have the Boss RC10r and the addition of drums and defined verse and chorus sections to your loops is awesome.
Take it a step further and get the Digitech Trio+. Great for practise and creativity. My only issue with looper pedals has been getting the volume balance right for each take. I find that take one either vanishes in the mix or totally overwhelms.
Thinking about it John, you make a good point. I have a Ditto looper. Approaching the pedal as a useful tool for practice, like a Metronome, can be very constructive. Perhaps now it will get used more often, Cheers!
I have same Ditto pedal you demonstrated in your video. It's simple, affordable, and works great. I also use the 6-button looper built into the HX Stomp XL.
Yeah, Loopers are amazing and can help improve your playing and creativity. I used to use Looper Pedals until my JamMan Stereo Looper broke and I decided to try a Software Multi-track Looper. Each solution has pros and cons. A month or so ago, I decided to try my old Boss Looper, and connecting all the additional cables for routing, etc. made me pack it up a few minutes after I tested it - Too many wires/cables and not enough power for me to do anything really interesting. Went back to using a Software Looper. If you want to see the incredible things one musician can do with a Looper, watch any Matt Bolton videos on YT, and be prepared to have your mind blown.
Zoom just came out with a new looper pedal that, like all their pedals, offers a ton of functionality at an affordable price. However, the Zoom R24 is the best looper ever. You have 24 tracks to loop with a sequencer, effects and lots more. No it isn' t a looper pedal but it is much easier to record , add effects and trim loops and arrange everything into a song with loops coming in and out of the mix. The R24 is discontinued but the Zoom R8 is still on the market and also has these features but with only 8 tracks. The R8 is also a little smaller and both models can be powered by AA batteries which is nice when moving between say a drum set and a guitar rig. Decent inboard stereo (or 2 mono) mics make looping acoustic sounds easy too. BTW, I don't work for Zoom. ;)
I have the RC 500, use it in the loop of the hx stomp for stereo goodness. Had the ditto plus in the past which served as a great introduction to looping.
hope you and yours are having a great festive period, john! Do you ever play with the HX Stomp looper? Any thoughts on it and what makes the Ditto preferable?
The HX series loopers only allow a brain dead 60 secs of loop, which kinda limits it to very short stuff. I was real keen on using my HXFX loopers, but they are all retarded in this way, which annoys the crap outta me:such a great unit, otherwise. So I have to pair my HXFX with an RC30 to get the flexibility I want. Wish they’d fix that …
i have a simple looper like a lekato. one switch. stores 9 loops or can be loaded with files. and then i have a way more featured one. boss rc 500. both ahve their use. but plenty of great loopers now. nu-x loop core mk2. valeton looper. sheeran little one.
Absolutely Great for practise and composition and I use one for a couple of songs live (as a solo or duo performer). I did get a more advanced looper (Boss RC500) but in the end came back to the much more simple one built into the HX Stomp, does everything I need and simpler to use (plus no danger of it having a rogue loopin there from a previous song, unlike the RC500)..
That Waves lick from Guthrie is one of my favorite guitar lines in existence! Nailed it!!
Tuner comes a close second 🤣
Boss RC5. Had the Ditto, the RC500 and others... The RC5 is the perfect balance between simplicity and features.

My boss rc500 is so much fun. Huge upgrade from my Haley Benton looper I started on

Sir, what do you call the kind of playing that you did starting like @ 5:42 to about 6:09 ? Thank you
That is taken from the song Waves by Guthrie Govan.

I would also include a tuner !
+1
lekato do a really cheap looper that can store/load 9 loops and has an inbuilt tuner. they're like $40
You're getting dead good mate. Always tasteful too. Lovely stuff.
0:42 😏 still asking for marco sfogli licks btw

A looper and some courses! Ooooor, you could buy your eighth overdrive pedal?
Best video ever John

This better be a looper. ❤
A tuner and any pedal that draws you in so much that you don't get distracted by other pedals. Yep. Cheers, D
(Loopers are a good rec. And I recommend audiating backgrounds in time as soon as one is able to.).
The DigiTech Trio Plus Band Creator is my favourite at the moment 😊
Very insightful.
My teacher made me buy it on first lesson. Best pedal ever;)!
How does the HX Stomp looper feature compare?
My Ditto broke after a year ...my Boss keeps going. Oh and I like the Plethora looper.
Where in your signal path did you put this?
The percussive stuff you can do with a looper is also awesome if you are good at it. Takes some time to get used to it - at least for me.
Please Some sfogli licks john please

boss RC 5 or RC 1?
I use ditto x4 with a beat buddy and delay midi synced. great for practice or whole performances.
I like the Boss RC-5, fairly basic with drums too. Had a TC, but wanted more.
Absolutely agree! I use a Digitech Trio+. And the Dee-del-EE-del-EE song sounded like Sandstorm. 😅
2:55 thats what she said
Take it another step further with the Yamaha Trans acoustic with built in loooper🎸
i have a simple looper like a lekato. one switch. stores 9 loops or can be loaded with files. and then i have a way more featured one. boss rc 500. both ahve their use. but plenty of great loopers now. nu-x loop core mk2. valeton looper. sheeran little one.
Digitech SDrum needs to get some love in this comments section😂
the only thing Better than the Ditto Is the Ditto+
I love it so much I have 2 of them. So awesome for writing endless songs and parts.
Delay. I never had a metronome but I was able to develop a decent sense of time with a boss dd2.
Boss RC-1
how did you know I got a looper for christmas?
Same. Got me some fllamma fs21.
@ nice. I got the pigtronix infinity 2
RC-10…
Absolutely
