Hi Jimmy, My TV has 2 thin black horizontal lines - Samsung PNC50C450B1D. My guess, I will eventually need to buy a Y-Sustain Board. Can you confirm, and indicate cost and difficulty if I want to replace it myself? Thanks, Chuck
ShopJimmy.com I have a Panasonic tc-p50s60 plasma tv. When power is hooked up the standby red light comes on steady, no blinking. No audio or video. The fuse on the power supply board is good. I'm thinking I need to order that board from you. Am I on the right track?
Great tutorial, My 60 inch Samsung Plasma started putting a thin bright green vertical line down the screen about 8 inches from the right side edge. I was bummed out and was looking for a new LED TV, I got used to the great blacks that Plasma TV's have and really didn't want to spend around $2500 for a OLED TV that have great blacks. Found your posting and you described the symptom my plasma is having so I am taking a chance and ordering a Main Logic control board off of ebay, was only $15 so no big deal if it doesn't fix it.Thank you for the very informative post.
Good day, your overview of Plasma TV presentation was second to none. Although you had not touched on audio processing of it - I had really enjoyed it. Much appreciated.
Hi Jimmy. When i plug in my TV it turn on and tick 3 time and power off. I took it apart and check inside. When i plug in the cord from main onto power board the main board flash 3 time and my dies powers off again. Is it my power board or main board. Please reply.
I'm not sure but ,if anyone else needs to find out about how to learn electronics repair try Saankramer Electronic Magazine System (do a search on google ) ? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my mate got great success with it.
I have a LG 60pv450 that shuts off after a few seconds of running. There is a standby light but it won't power back on after it shuts its self off. The screen will light up but it goes off again right away. We did have a fuse breaker pop this summer and it's the same plug that runs the tv. Would this just be a fuse in the tv I could repair? Thanks
I also have this same issue, mine will turn on and we'll do fine as long as it's only displaying the no signal icon that dances around the screen, but if I power on a PlayStation or DVD player and the screen gets more I would say power or light in it it shuts right off
Thanks Jimmy for actually inviting us to ask you Q's! This video is great, and after watching it I believe I may know which board I need to replace, but wisdom says I should lay it out before you as well, for your input. My tv is a Panasonic Viera 65" Model # TC-P65GT50 (manuf in May 2012) the problems started after a freakingly powerful rainstorm blew up suddenly here in the midwest. the living room window was open and the side of the tv that has the main board was approx 12" from the open window, and the back of the tv got doused breifly with rain blowing in the window. Symptoms mainly affect what is happening on screen. we can be watching Cable or our Amazon FireTV stick, and suddenly out of the blue, the TV MENU graphics will pop up (as if I had pressed the MENU button on the remote), or the INPUT graphics will pop up on the screen (as if I had pressed the INPUT button on the remote), or the MANUAL CONTROLS graphics will pop up on screen (as if I had pressed on of the manual control buttons [PWR, VOL +/-, CHANNEL +/-] located on the lower right side of the unit. When these events happen, I often lose control of the unit with the remote, but sometimes the remote will still work (although rarely). When the INPUT graphics appear, it looks like a toddler has gotten hold of the remote because different inputs appear to be selected in rapid succession. Sometimes the remote is not able to control the TV, and sometimes I can 'fight throught it' with the remote and go back to the input that I want to watch. When the remote goes dead, I have to get up and physically turn off the unit with the manual power button. We can for for a long time (guessing 45 mins?) without a problem, or it can happen multiple times in a single minute. This has be going on for maybe 3 weeks. When it first started, sometimes the volume on the unit would just start increasing by itself, reaching mas vol in say 5 seconds or so. this does not happen anymore. So, what do you think? Do you think the rain fried some component on the main board? -Chris B in central Ohio
I have a Samsung PN60E530A3FXZA plasma TV that wont turn on. Several months ago it developed a problem where I would need to turn it on, see nothing on the screen, hen turn it off and back on it it would then work. Once it came on it was fine. Now I can not get it to come on at all. Maybe you can suggest which board might be bad. I have the back off and do not see any obvious issue such as bad or leaking capacitors. The RED LED on the front blinks and then goes out so I am getting power.
@@LesLariz I have a 30 inch LG Plasma EDTV from 2008. Works great, BUT I have to turn it off and on 3 - 4 times to get a picture! Sound comes right on. Who can replace a "board" not me - who do I go to?
I really appreciated that you haven't taken older videos down. I have a, Samsung 5 Series plasma. Been going strong 12 years. A couple of months ago I got the occasional popping sound but everything was fine on screen. Recently i get kind of messy looking flashes or overlays on the right side (looking at the TV) which were just flashes to start with but are getting more frequent and staying longer. Its like a whitish cloud or puddle tinged red, very grainy and with evenly spaced dark horizontal lines. So according to this video I have both boards gone? X AND Y? Because in another of your videos you ascribed all those symptoms to the Y board alone (unless I misunderstood).
Thank you for this - here is how I successfully used this knowledge to fix my Philips (Samsung boards) TV. From the description of faults, I suspected the X and/or Y sustain boards. There was a picture, but it had an out of range color stripe and was grainy. Fault happened while watching and there was a burning smell. TV continued to work somewhat. When I looked at the X and Y sustain boards, I could see some bulged capacitors - they were all 82uF at somewhere around 312-350 volts. Between the boards, there were about 18 of them. There were a couple of other bulged capacitors. I removed them and measured ESR ( a good way to tell if a capacitor is bad). Turns out on these Samsung boards, those 82uF capacitors have almost ALL failed; only 2 of 18 showed ESR anywhere near acceptable. Now, if I were to just replace the boards, I'd be getting boards just as old with capacitors just as old. Ordering new caps from DigiKey cost about $60, and I replaced all of the 18 82uF, plus about 6 others, 4 of which were not even bad. TV is perfect now. Summary: many of the capacitors in your sets are probably at end of life, and if you look closely, you will see visual signs of this (bulging at the top). You may find, as I did, that a ton of your caps were bad, and replacement is inexpensive, and a much better option than buying old boards with the same, old caps....
Hi, very intuitive video... I have the Samsung D550 51inch 3D plasma TV ... Recently we heard a popping noise and we lost picture. There was sound was still playing until we tried other av sources and couldn't get back. Any idea what could be the specific problematic board?
Hi Jimmy, thanks for your resources. Pls I have a 60"LG plàsma tv that comes on some days and doesn't other times and whenever it comes on when you try scanning for Channels, it suddenly goes into standby and then refuses to come on again. It's a soft touch. What should I do please.
Great video. I have a Tatung P46T Plasma. It will go into standby mode; however, when it is turned on, it begins making the loud popping noise you mentioned, and the colors on the screen are distorted with no definable picture just ghost images.
Hi. Really informative channel. Glad I found it and subscribed. I have a Samsung 50” plasma about 15 years old. Recently the screen has started to periodically go black but I can still hear sound. If I unplug it for several minutes, the picture comes back one. It does this every few days. The tv doesn’t have to be on for a long time for this to happen. I noticed it is also a little warmer that it used to be when I walk by it. The model number is HPT5034YX/XXA. Thank you very much in advance
I have the a similar problem, the tv boots with no image 9 out of 10 times but Shem it boots with images it just works perfectly until you shot it down .. really weird and difficult to diagnose
Hi, I have a Philips Plasma 50PF9731D/37 with White & Red vertical lines to the far right of the screen. The TV almost makes a loud buzzing noise when it starts up but tends to dissipate after 15 minutes. I appreciate your help with any suggestions. Thank you!
Thanks for your passion to help us plasma TVs lovers ( have Panasonic 65 plasma works perfect for 10 minutes looses picture has sound eventually 7 red light flashes
Good overview of components. Here's my situation. LG plasma 60PN5700 screen would turn off but sound & backlight remained on. Restarting the TV multiple times would fix it and it would remain on. This happened for about a month. Today, I went to turn on the TV and it immediately "clicks" off. Red standby by power lights works as expected. Opened the back panel and no visual burn marks or bulging components. When power is switched on, you can see a small red light click on & off where the optical sound port plugs in on the main board. I suspect it's a power supply problem but unsure. Switched plug cables and same result. Suggestions? Thanks!
Thank you for the video. Very informative. I have a 65” Plasma, 65” Plasma: PN64H5000AF Version#: TS02 Serial #: 01UQ3CBF900283T Last night I heard a “pop” and it died. No standby light, nothing. Won’t come on at all. Opened it up and checked the power board fuse (250v) and it appears to be dead according to VOM. What do you think? Jim
I have a 60 inch LG plasma TV and it would turn on and then after a few minutes the screen would go dark, then it would power itself off. If you turn it back on it will work but will always turn back off. I listed it for sale and described the problem it had. A guy messaged me and told me if I could solder, I could fix it. One on of the boards, these little coils had developed cracks on the bottom of the board.. I repaired them and re soldered them and the TV started to work great again. It's been about three weeks and tonight, it started doing it again.. I took it apart, added more solder and made sure it was done better as I kinda rushed through it the first time. I plugged it back up and about 10 minutes after turning it on, it did it again.. I only did the board on the right side of you're looking at it from the back with the cover removed. I checked the other side and they aren't cracked like the right side was so I didn't mess with it.
@@abelhansen3879 last night was the first time since I did the repair that it happened. I re did the soldering and really took my time. Put it all back together, plugged it in, turn it on and about 10 minutes later kicked off.. I turned it back on and it stayed on until I woke up, 9 hours later and I turned it off. The soldering definitely makes a big difference. The people who have the videos of putting the main board in the oven, thats what they're doing, that gets the solder hot enough to seal the cracks that develop on the underside of the boards.
So I've laft the back panel off so far it's been running 40 min without turning off this and a fan blasting air up across the back might just be all I need
Great video! I have a 60 in. LG plasma. It turns on for about 15-30 min. then shuts off and won’t turn back on for several hours. What board should I replace?
Good day. Thank you for the video. It is quite helpful. My TV screen started turning pink in the top left corner. As time goes on this patch is getting bigger and i noticed that the pink tint is noticeable now from the left side to the right side (especially on white screens) but gets better as the TV warms up. From your video it sounds like i have a possible issue on the X Sustain board. Is the board repairable? I have heard that some of the capacitors needs to be replaced. I would greatly appreciate your feedback on this.
Thankyou. Tv is a plasma lg 60pk250. The set power indicator glows red in standby. Pushing the power on remote or hovering over the power button causes click click but does not produce a picture. It used to be intermittent but now will never turn on. What causes that? Main board relay? This is an old tv but made a great picture. Is it worth fixing
Hi Jimmy excellent video! I have a zenith 50" model 50PC3DB. I believe the problem is with the x-sustain board because I get thick vertical black lines, after warming up the problem goes away. What do I do?
Thanks for your great video. I have a Samsung plasma tv 860fh-yb06 Manufactured 2014-06-02. The problem is vertical lines have appeared on the right side of the screen. It sounded like it might be the logic board. I'm not sure how i would get feedback from you. Again thanks for your help.
Great video! Very informative. So I've got a Hitachi model 42HDS52A plasma TV and there seems to be a cooling fan that runs continuously even after the set has been turned off (red light). I wondering if maybe there's a relay that's acting up(?). This particular set has a master power button that cuts power to the set and I have to turn it off to get the fan to stop running. Any thought will be greatly appreciated.
I have a Panasonic TC - P50X1 Everything seems to work fine except I only have the top half of the screen working bottom half is blank. Love this TV always had a great picture and hate to see it thrown out hopefully you can find me in the right direction as to which board Needs replaced or any other possible causes for this thank you
nice video...very well informative and easy to follow..;) will try next week , as our tv has no power...hope i can fix it myselt .excited , thank u for this video.
PS51E530A3RXXT black horisontal lines, then two loud bangs and the screen went black. What should i replace? i see no damage or broken fuses on any of the boards.
Great video! I have a question... I have a Zenith Plasma TV (Z42PT320-UC) where the sound stopped working out of anywhere. I'll turn the volume up, switch HD I outputs and even use the AV cords, but no sound comes out at all. What would you recommend?
You video has helped me out to get an understanding of the problem I'm having which is that when I plug in my t.v. the red stand bye light comes on the way it was supposed to but whenever I turn on the power my screen stays completely black and then the stand bye light blinks 5 times and then shuts off the t.v.. what should I try to do first to solve the problem .
Hi wow! This is great! We have a Samsung Pn51d530a3fxza. The tv turns on and we can hear the input from the antenna input. We have a black screen that sometimes shows a little faint static on the viewer’s left side of the tv that then fades quickly to black and no picture. I’ve already repaired the on/off switch board on the tv a few years ago.
Wow! That’s all very informative! Thanks! I have a 55” Samsung Plasma (not sure exact model # cuz it’s not with me at the moment) but on the right side, it has colored vertical lines. Any ideal what may cause that? Logic board, perhaps? As you stated in the video? Thanks! I really appreciate the info.
Hello…you guys have been able to help me with diagnosis and parts for Panasonic plasma tvs before…hopefully it’s the same here…working with model TC-P50S60 that has both horizontal and vertical lines usually after it’s been on a while….last time I had lines on one of my other units it was t-con board and buffer boards but tha was just horizontal lines if I remember correctly…any help as always is greatly appreciated
I've got an LG 60PM6700-UB plasma television. I've got audio but no picture, a black screen. I Had somebody check the Y Sus main board. They said its good. I ordered an upper buffer board and installed it but still have the same problem. I'm wondering if I should also order the lower buffer board. Do you think a bad lower buffer board would cause this issue? Great content, thank you
Thank you for the video. We purchased our 42" Samsung Plasma HDTV in late 2006 and has given us flawless service since that time. I have it connected to a TrippLite HP1000 UPS for a seamless AC Source and power down. Just in the past week I have noticed that the TV has a grainy appearance during power up, and has a slow pulsating appearance with the grainy picture and it all goes away after about 1 minute after power up. No other issues. The picture is good without any lines or abnormalties. The model number is HPS 4253X/XXA S/N B15G3CNLB08739; Mfg Date Nov 2006
Hello shop jimmy you guys are awesome. I have a pn60F8500 Samsung plasma tv they say this TV is still worth repairing and that’s just what I’m trying to do. After reviewing videos for weeks on end I have come to the conclusion because my television has no standby light and no power to it whatsoever that it is my power board. Because of this I ordered a new power board I have installed it and the TV is still not powering on help. I have also tried to test the cable going to the main board but I think that is past my area of expertise
Jimmy, I have an older pn608500 plasma tv. It recently developed 3 pinstripe vertical lines on the left side. otherwise, the picture is fine. any idea what part may need replaced. Thanks
Hello man, Great video! I solved issue with purple snow (just bought external stabilisator). But my plasma won’t adjust from 43 of 60 overall brightness. From 1-43 it’s ok, but after 43 plasma don’t increase light even on a maximum 60 of 60. And overall feeling that plasma became more dimmer. And Vivid color mode don’t work at all. And the buzzing sound from plasma became very low, almost not recognizeble. Could you advise, it’s SS or A-board issue? My plasma is Pr50ut30, do you have some boards, if I want to buy?
Great video thanks My TV is a Samsung PS51E531 and had a few vertical thin colored strip[es close to the right hand edge. There are maybe 10 stripes across a width of about 15mm (half inch). I bought a smashed TV and have swapped the logic board and re-seated all the ribbon cables but no change. I suspect it may one of the screen ribbons so that would be game over. Any thoughts?
Hi guys, thanks for an awesome video! I have a Samsung PS60F55AK it has around 20 vertical colourful lines, can I fix it or should it go the way of the Dodo?
Do you have a video showing the capacitor replacement? Or should I just look visually for the damaged capacitor and then replace it? It will be located on the power board correct?
Hello Jimmy, Thanks for sharing this video, it was really informative: I have a Samsung PL64F8500 which stopped working after a pop sound (like a capacitor pop), now the power lights do 5 double-blinks and starts all over again. I will really appreciate your thoughts, Thanks
I know this is an older post but you seem to know what you are doing and your methed of explanation is very clear. I have a PN51D550C with the following sypmtoms------ Runs 3 Power cycles with relay clicking when plugged in. Will not power on when power button pressed so no picture and no stand-by led. X-SUS replaced for it blew output transistors yet, it did not correct the problem. When Either X or Y boards are disconnected the power cycle stops. What is strange is the power cycle stops when either one of the X, Y boards are disconnected. With both connected, cycling continues for 3 attempts and then tv goes quiet. PS Stops cycling with both disconnected or just one of them connected and does not matter which one is connected just as long as both are not connected. Hard to diagnose a prob with the x or y boards when neither one individually connected causes the power cycle. All voltage output from the PS match and hold what is printed on the board next to each connector. There are no bulged or oozing caps, no burned or discolored areas on any of the boards and no popped fuses on the PS. The logic board "heart beat" LED has a slow and long blink pattern when XSUS and YSUS boards are disconnected and TV when both are re-connected. There is no longer a stand-by led with any pattern of connected boards and the power LED blinks 3 times rapidly when power is pushed with no power on or clicks.(heat sensing buttons not hard buttons on this model) I love this tv and hope to fix it. I do have some knowledge of circuitry but lack the indepth knowledge of how each of the individual components communicate with one another.
Great Video. One thing i'v noticed the Plasma TV's from 10 to 15 years ago. They were built. My friend has a 42 inch Sony KE-42XBR900 Plasma TV which he got like 15 years ago. It weighs 100 pounds. I remember Fujitsu made a 63 inch Plasma TV that weighed 160 pounds
Hello, you mentioned that you might be able to help with an issue. I have a 2008 AVP504 Sanyo 50 inch. Way back the top of the video became dark but we could see the bottom half of the picture. Well of course not long after the bottom half did the same and away it went into storage. Been sat there, inside, warm comfortable, and ir is now that I have time and inclination to fix this bad boy. Any suggestions as to the cause and how to proceed? Thanks so much!
The tutorial was great I have a Samsung 43" plasma tv model PN43D490A1D I have picture for maybe 30 minutes then I lose my picture it has sound with a dark blue screen witch circuit board could be causing this problem T. Turner
Hey, nice video. I have a Samsung 43 inch plasma tv. Model PN43E450A1F. when you plug the power cord into the outlet the TV standby light will flash 7-8 times and nothing happens. After the 7-8 flashes the TV standby light no longer on. But if your press the power button on the TV or remote you can get the standby light to come back then it goes away. I do have 5.26v standby voltage at the power supply. I don't know where to go from there. Any help will be appreciated.
Panasonic TC-60PS34, built 5/2011. Have been getting white screen (like looking through cheesecloth) with sound for about a month, when turning on. Turn on and off a few times and it worked fine. Now it is just white screen with sound. Open back and everything looks ok. Boards are TNPA5343,5344,5399,5400 PH0914,PA5326. Do you think replacing buffers 5343 & 5344 and board 5399 will fix?
Thank you for making this video. I have a Samsung Plasma TV Model PN51E450A1F from 2012. When I plug in the TV I get a solid red standby light. When I use the remote to turn it on I get a startup sound then the red light starts flashing then goes out. The screen is black. When I use the remote to turn it off I get a shutdown sound then the red standby light appears solid again. Do you have any idea what is causing this or where I should start?
Colorful snow. It doesn't fall, but just exists on the screen & seems to be getting worse, everyday. It is a 50 inch Samsung Plasma Mod# PN50C450, 720P HDTV. I purchased it in 2010. I use a Roku devise. All Roku channels I visit have the snow. I'm not connected to cable. What do you think is wrong & can It be fixed? I loved your video, very helpful in understanding the inner workings of TV's. Many Thanks, Norm
Shopjimmy.com I have an samsung plasma tv model number PN60F5500AF. It flashes a pink or purple then the screen goes black with sound. I have to turn the tv off then back on to get the picture to come back on. Can you tell me what I could do to repair this problem?
Awesome !!! thanks for sharing this wonderful knowledge about Plasmas!!!. I have a Samsung ps51e8000gr Smart TV that has Black/white Vertical bar about 3 - 4 inches thick from top to bottom. Is it ok to conclude its the bad logic main? I am all set to buy a replacement through ebay, but will wait for your final confirmation. Again, i just want to try if this could actually fix my issue. Thanks for your effort.
Model: PN64D550C1FXZA This is a Samsung plasma from 2011. It is currently turning on for about 3-5 minutes and then the picture turns off and the sound stays on. From your video I am guessing its the YSUS board. What do you think?
Hey Jimmy, I have a 2006 Panasonic plasma that I love, model # TH-58PX60U . having problems turning on where it goes off and the red led power light flashes in sequences of 7. Sometimes after being on a while it shuts down and red light flashes in 7s. Today, no troubles. What I'd like to know is, what does that mean and could it be cheaper/ better just to buy a new tv as I'm guessing I may be throwing good $ on a 16 yr old Plasma that gets beautiful picture and had been in storage for some time. Appreciate your insight and hope to here from you !
When working on a plasma TV like this, does it need to be discharged for safety like a CRT would and if so can you point me in the right direction for information
Sound but solid black screen suddenly happened. Thought it over heated, but that wasn’t the case. It’s a 2008 lg plasma tv 50PG20. Any suggestions and do you also sale parts?
Nicely done video here’s my question . I have a Samsung plasma TV model # PN51F8500AF Serial # Z6PT3C3CBFB02637K it works fine except for one hair thin line right in the center running vertically from top to bottom. Any ideas on what might cause this?
Hello, thank you for the helpful video. Based on your descriptions it sounds like my “Y” board is bad as my Samsung Model Number PN57D7000FFXZA cycles on and off. It begins with just randomly turning off on its own, normally within 5 minutes of turning it on. Once I turn it back on the shut off time comes closer and closer until eventually it just continually cycles to the Samsung logo and then shuts off and starts again. Do you think it is the Y board?
I may or may not get a reply, considering how old this video is, but it's worth a shot. I have a Panasonic TH-65PF9UK plasma screen that still works. It was used by an Atlanta graphics company during the development of the 3D version of the movie "Titanic," then put into storage for years, which is why I may have the last functioning one on earth. It has developed neon-blue dots that appear roughly in the shape of the image currently being shown, one on the left side of the screen and one on the right. From what I'm reading it's possible that this can be dealt with by calibrating the voltage regulator. How do I go about doing that?
Hi Jimmy, I just saw your video and I wonder if you can help me with my Panasonic TCP42X5 . The tv turns on and has a great picture but it randomly turns off at different times. I have to wait about 10 minutes and I can turn it back on and start all over again. Hope you can point me in the right direction and it is not to expensive. Looking forward to your reply. Thank you for your input.
Hi I have a Hitachi 40" inch plasma TV model 42hds52a approx 15 years old. Over the past several months, when tuning on the main power button at the bottom of the TV, the red light would come on, but it didn't transition to green. Sometimes pressing the power button again would make it work and more recently I have to unplug for a while, depress the power button and plug back in to make it work. Now the green light will not come on, but the red still will. I know it's an ancient TV that was more than a house but the picture is great. Do you have any recommendations, or is it about time to give it up? Thanks!
Hello, great video. I have a Panasonic plasma TV, Model: TX-P42S11B that turns off and the standby light flashes red 8 times. When I disconnect the SS board (X Sustain board) and power up the TV I will get a picture. When I disconnect and reconnect both the SS board and Y sustain board the TV starts working fine. After a few days I will have the same issue, the TV will turn off and if I disconnect and reconnect the Y and X board the TV starts working again. TV’s working duration time has also been going down from a week to a day or two now. Any suggestions which board should I replace to fix problem? Thanks!
Great video. I have a Dell W4200 Plasma TV. The digital turner stopped working and won't find any channel in auto or manual search. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks/
I own a Panasonic Viera 50" Plasma (TH-50PX50U) and years ago a black box (approximately 12Hx11W) appeared at the upper right corner. Did some resetting to the factory settings, but it didn't help. I suspect that a power surge caused this problem, but we kept the TV because the picture is simply amazing and we could live with that box. Could it be the closed captions area? I don't know much about electronics, but I am willing to at least try, if replacing a board is what needs to be done, even if at the end we'll get a new TV. Thank you, in advance.
I purchased a main logic control board from ShopJimmy for my Samsung Plaza PN51D450A2DXZA as I had vertical lines from a power surge. Board replaced but still the same vertical lines. What board should I try next? Thanks.
Nice one. I have a pn60f5300af Samsung plasma. Grains are appearing on the left top side while watching TV. They are not of fix color but changes as per picture. Any idea what may be wrong?
Hi. Thanks a lot for this video. I have a samsung 43" plasma - PS43E450. I was trying to sort out a horizontal line reacently so I cleaned out the ribbon cable connections and was trying to troubleshoot the issue. Foolish of me but I disconnected the ribbon cable from the logic board to yhe y-sustain and switched on the tv. I heard a clicking sound and now the tv does not power on. The red light flashes every few seconds and there's a small sound from the power supply board. I would highly appreciate some advice. Thanks
I have a insignia 50 inch plasma TV NS- Pdp50hd-09 at first no power just dead so I replaced the fuse and it came on but now it has no picture just sound. So I switched some fuses around still the same. Now what does it need I'm thinking a new main power supply board? That should fix the problem? What do you think I hope I don't have to throw away the tv because i like it even though it tends to get hot but I'm a little frustrated now.
Jim, Can I replace the crack in my TH-50PX50U with glass cut from a glass shop? I just cracked the screen while lifting the beast off the shop table and would hate to let it go to the recycle bin so soon. Are there tear down instructions for pulling the unit apart to size and replace the glass? Is there a place online that I can buy a panel to replace it with? Thank you! Michael
Hi I have a 64 inch Samsung PS64E8000GM that will not longer turn on. No standby light also. Do you have any quick tips or links to replacing certain board and where to purchase & do you ship to Australia?
I have a Panasonic thpx50u plasma and the bottom half of the horizontal picture cuts in and out from working to just black or from working to looking like a bad bulb is projecting the bottom portion of the picture. Any thoughts and thank for the videos there great. Lee
hi there, i have a problem with a pioneer plasma tv, it makes a whining/hissing noise (from the cabinet, not through speakers) that increases with picture clarity. With dark screens you hardly hear it, with white screens it is loud. It also increases gradually with operation length. After watching a movie it is over all louder. The sound resembles the sound you would have from old crt tv's. It has a high voltage static noise to it. Thanks and hope to hear from you soon.
I know this is an old post but I have a pn59d8000 3d plasma. (long story short) I tore my acl lcl and mcl which made me rather unstable my crutch caught a chair and i crashed into a steal rack in my kitchen and it and myself fell into the tv causing the tv to fall off the stand and I got about a softball size webbing crack with what looks a slight puncture or pin sized chip of outer layer. It wasn't plugged in at the time but when I did plugged it in and try to turn it on I get nothing. Probably just have to junk it but if you have any ideas that would be great. I'm guessing it would be just as cheap to buy new then replace as it was a 2011-2012 model
Jimmy I have a Samsung mod. PN50A450P1D I saw your video and I think the y board it bad I have a lot horizontal lines everything else it’s working well can you for any chance have a y board or recommend where to get it thank you
Hi I have a LG 60ph660v with no picture but has sound, I've been told it's the main board, can you help in any way, maybe even where I can get a main board for my tv. Thank you 👍
Thanks for the video! I have a Samsung plasma model no: PN60E530A3F . It turns on every time but usually with sound only. If you turn the power on and off with the remote, after several tries, you will see the screen come to life and then there is a picture as normal. If you shut it off, it can take some effort(having turning it on and off again) before the picture turns on again.
Hi Jimmy I have a 64" Samsung Plasma Model PS64E550D1M Problem: No power no Standby light. Love the video but could you show the fuses that need replacing for the power as you mentioned multiple, Just so I know which ones they are I have 2 visual ceramic fuses is there more
Hi jimmy i came across your video i currently have a problem with my tv model number S42AX-YB09, my tv has some black patches and a channels logo print on the screen even after you change the channel and it also has a green and red colour line as well
Hello. I have a plasma Samsung PN50a400c2d manufactured in 2008. The tv wasnt used that much over the years. I have a section approximately 4 inches wide that is either solid black or colored vertical lines from top to bottom. I have replaced the logic board in center of tv and also the input board. I have had times where it will go away but once powering off and back on, it reappears. One ribbon cable on the center logic board connects to what I assume is a backlight board that goes across the bottom of tv. I have reseated and cleaned the ribbon cable ends. I currently have a ribbon cable ordered. I removed and swapped ends of the ribbon cable but lines remained and in the exact same place. I am not sure if the backlight board (I assume that is the board) can be replaced. Hoping issue with the ribbon cable but dont want to keep replacing parts without decent chance of it resolving problem. Any suggestions? Thank you!!!!
Hello sir, i have panasonic tx-p37x10e, it has fat verical black line, i openes it, i think ots the third flat cable on boaed at the bottom, nothing looks damaged. On the side edge of the black line there is a thin line but its static/snow.
Jimmy, I have a question about a Lg Plasma in a 60 inch model LG PB6650., the television was working during a thunderstorm and it shut down during this time, the standby light is working correctly and when powered up it goes off which is normal, also the screen will display a dark picture to lighter shade for a second at that tie it will power off and automatically back on by itself all the tie the screen is continuing to be black. I have replaced the power board and that did effect the time the lighting on the screen is lighting up more briefly till it powers back down and back on again by itself. Could you or would you suggest what the problem could be?
I have an LG plasma TV model: 50PC3D When turned on with the power button the screen displays a dark black and grey snowy image with a kind of black hole in the middle of the screen. There are vertical lines present and the screen seems to strobe as if it is surging. This is my first TV repair but based on the info learned in your video seems likely the logic board will need to be replaced? Your feed back would be appreciated as I am going to wait on ordering any parts until i get a response. Also I live in Alberta Canada and also would like suggestions on a cost effective yet quality source to order parts from? Thank you and happy holidays to all.
Samsung 51” plasma heard loud pop like a cap gun and screen turned black but sound kept playing . Guessing it’s a capacitor any pointers be appreciated I love this tv want to save it
I guess this is quite an old video bit hopefully I can get a response. My TV model is an LG Plasma 42PT350-UDACCLLHR. We were playing a game and the TV shut itself off. No loud pops or anything like that. The standby light is on and when we try powering it on it sounds like its going to start up but then shuts itself off again and goes back into standby. From your video it could be the ysus or power supply? Just wondering if its worth fixing or just buying a new TV.
Hi chaps. Thanks for a very informative video. I am reluctant to discard my 11 year old plasma screen thus I would like try fixing it. The screen has several vertical green lines which have developed in greater numbers over past years. It is an LG Plasma TV model 50PK590 -EZ. With reference to your video, it suggests that the problem is most likely due to the logic board failure. Would this be correct or, if not, is this problem elsewhere or even repairable? Many thanks in anticipation of your comments.
Same .. I have an 11 year old Tv i don't want to throw out either. Very informative video. I need to get the model number but I hope they reach out to you
Our panasonic tc-55st50 is overheating after 30 minutes of use. I took off the rear panel but everything looks ok, although I don't really know what to look for. Any ideas?
hi, thank you for your video - really super helpful. i have a samsung plasma - pn50c450b1dxza. it has some vertical colored stripes or bars on the right side of the tv. it happens more often now as the tv warms up and then stays that way. if i let it cool down, it will go away again until i suppose it warms up and the vertical bars start again. so it seems like a slow thermal failure of a board in the tv. i think it might be the logic board (pn i believe is BN96-12953A) as explained in your video or perhaps the E Address buffer ( pn i think is BN96-12954A) on that side of the tv. or maybe both? i am not 100% sure. so question to you is what do you think it is? thank you
Hello. I have a 2010 LG 60PS60 UA 60" plasma tv. Was watching it yesterday then all the sudden no picture black screen but still had sound. Powered down and unplugged from wall to let things reset. Powered back on Powered up like it should had pic and sound was working perfect. Then 2 mins later screen went black still had sound. It will continue to do this every time now. What's your thoughts? Y sustain board? Thanks for your time.
Hello - HP Plasma TV Model PL4260 - I mostly had horizontal Black lines across the screen then I started to also have light purple snow across the whole screen. Can you please let me know which board do you think it might be causing the issues. Thank you.
I have a pioneer 42 inch plasma model PDP-R04U, and it has a faint screen, you can see picture, it does have faint colors and you can see it changing , but in no way can you watch a show. It also has sound, occasionally it powers off and the red stand by light blinks on the TV. This has a remote receiver connected by special system cable to the TV monitor? Any ideas on repair? At one point I did see a repair kit for the receiver and see some on eBay, would those resolve the issue?
I fixed my plasma TV after watching your video, plus a new part from Ebay.

Hi I have a Plasma Display Model: PS50C430A1 can it has black lines and sometimes it spreads a little bit
Can I change plasma screen panel to an LED TV
I realize this is an old post, but did you get the logic board installed and did it fix the vertical colored line?
Good day, your overview of Plasma TV presentation was second to none. Although you had not touched on audio processing of it - I had really enjoyed it. Much appreciated.
Hi Jimmy. When i plug in my TV it turn on and tick 3 time and power off. I took it apart and check inside. When i plug in the cord from main onto power board the main board flash 3 time and my dies powers off again. Is it my power board or main board. Please reply.
what about thin vertical pinstripes across the entire screen? shows black on a color test image. equidistant from each other?

I have a LG 60pv450 that shuts off after a few seconds of running. There is a standby light but it won't power back on after it shuts its self off. The screen will light up but it goes off again right away. We did have a fuse breaker pop this summer and it's the same plug that runs the tv. Would this just be a fuse in the tv I could repair? Thanks
Jake T im having the same problem with mine. did you find a solution yet?
me too

@@emmanuelngakane6883 it's the powersuply
I also have this same issue, mine will turn on and we'll do fine as long as it's only displaying the no signal icon that dances around the screen, but if I power on a PlayStation or DVD player and the screen gets more I would say power or light in it it shuts right off
Thanks Jimmy for actually inviting us to ask you Q's! This video is great, and after watching it I believe I may know which board I need to replace, but wisdom says I should lay it out before you as well, for your input.
My tv is a Panasonic Viera 65" Model # TC-P65GT50 (manuf in May 2012)
the problems started after a freakingly powerful rainstorm blew up suddenly here in the midwest. the living room window was open and the side of the tv that has the main board was approx 12" from the open window, and the back of the tv got doused breifly with rain blowing in the window.

I have a Samsung PN60E530A3FXZA plasma TV that wont turn on. Several months ago it developed a problem where I would need to turn it on, see nothing on the screen, hen turn it off and back on it it would then work. Once it came on it was fine. Now I can not get it to come on at all. Maybe you can suggest which board might be bad. I have the back off and do not see any obvious issue such as bad or leaking capacitors. The RED LED on the front blinks and then goes out so I am getting power.
I have the same exact issue with the same tv...
did you find a resolution yet?
I replaced the Y-Sustain Main board with a used one I found on eBay and that fixed my TV. You can also find someone to repair your bad board on eBay.

Thank you!
Thanks for your passion to help us plasma TVs lovers ( have Panasonic 65 plasma works perfect for 10 minutes
looses picture has sound eventually 7 red light flashes

I'm having that problem
What board should I replace?
did you get this fixed

I just had the same issue with mine. Ordered the parts and installed them yesterday...Replacing the Y and X sustain boards made it work like a new TV.
Great video thanks
My TV is a Samsung PS51E531 and had a few vertical thin colored strip[es close to the right hand edge.
Great video. My mitsubitchi tv - the program playing starts to have a semi- slow motion 10- 20 sec before it shuts off. Ever heard of this? Ty!
The tutorial was great I have a Samsung 43" plasma tv model PN43D490A1D I have picture for maybe 30 minutes then I lose my picture it has sound with a dark blue screen witch circuit board could be causing this problem T. Turner
Hi, appreciate your content, I have an lg60pk590, I have a single green line running vertically down the screen, can you offer any advice on this?
Model: PN64D550C1FXZA
This is a Samsung plasma from 2011.
Thanks!
My PN64D8000FFXZA shows half screen and a moving line left to right. Pl suggest some solution.
Jim,
Can I replace the crack in my TH-50PX50U with glass cut from a glass shop?
Hi Jimmy I have a 64" Samsung Plasma Model PS64E550D1M

In addition to the previous post re: PN51F8500, there are no burn areas or swollen capacitors on the power board or other boards.
Any ideas?
Some TV's have a very small cooling fan! Check to see if it's running if yours is so equipped.
Hi Jimmy I have a Pioneer Plasma tv PDP-508XG with blinking blue light (9 blinks). Any idea as to the problem?
hi, thank you for your video - really super helpful. i have a samsung plasma - pn50c450b1dxza. it has some vertical colored stripes or bars on the right side of the tv. it happens more often now as the tv warms up and then stays that way. if i let it cool down, it will go away again until i suppose it warms up and the vertical bars start again. so it seems like a slow thermal failure of a board in the tv. i think it might be the logic board (pn i believe is BN96-12953A) as explained in your video or perhaps the E Address buffer ( pn i think is BN96-12954A) on that side of the tv. or maybe both? i am not 100% sure. so question to you is what do you think it is?
thank you
Hello - HP Plasma TV Model PL4260 -
I mostly had horizontal Black lines across the screen then I started to also have light purple snow across the whole screen.
