While at Addison airport today, I ran into my friends Jeff and Raj getting one of Raj's Starships ready for a trip. I filmed Raj's start up and taxi out.
@@ErikJohnstonI have had the pleasure of a walkaround/tour of Raj's other Starship a few years ago. I pictures of it with the 2 other Hawker Beechcraft all-composite aircraft, the Premier and the 4000.
Erik - Your work is amazing. I was at ADS as mgr there when the Starship first came to town for NBAA. It hid at Addison the day before it made it triumphant arrival to DAL. Such a cool airplane. It landed just before dark and was quickly spirited away to a hangar. Remember peaking inside to take my own first look. Too bad it wasn't more commercially successful (but that was partially a self-inflicted wound on Beech's part). Last I heard, ADS had two of them based there.
There used to be a Starship at our local airport. There is a Beech/Raytheon facility in town (with no windows) so there were a lot of people coming in and out. It was beautiful to see in the air or on the ground.
Luckily have had a close up tour of one a few years ago. The cockpit definitely looks very dated now but the cabin is still fairly modern with an 80's twist. Got a few very cool pictures of all 3 of the composite Hawker / Beechcraft planes together on our ramp. The Starship, Premier 1A, and the Hawker 4000.
wasn't one engine emergency performance..... and the ''early in the history of composits delamanitaion issues......'' the reasons it issn't really around anymore??? sigh.... as I stated above TOTALLY BEECH2000STARSHIP FANBOY lol hahahahaha want TODAYS TECH and powerplant and watnot to come buack and rize like the phoenix IN A NEW TODAY STARSHIP 3000 (or... ??) to battle vs the piagattios... or something... hehhehe
I AM A FANBOY lol love the BEECH 2000 STARSHIP whole platform.... it is too bad it can't REINCARNATE with current TECH and more efficent engeinse and watnot, and resurface as a PHOENIX hunting the PIAGAIOs ;) just a thought ;)
So cool. Surprisingly quiet, unless you tweaked the audio... I really wish there was a way to get rid of the strobe effect with the props. Also, were you in a golf cart or something at the end there? You were really moving along with it!
Yeah this was shot with an Insta 360 x2. They’re cool cameras but definitely do the funky prop thing! Yes, I was on a golf cart It was pretty windy today, so I think the camera was dampening the audio, it’s actually louder than the video
So glad to see that at least one of these is still operating!
Raj actually has two of them. There are around 4-5 flying in the world
Saw one a few years ago flying over south Florida. I believe it took off out of Tamiami Airport (TMB).

There is one at Centennial Airport here near Denver. I see her fly over every now and then. Lived in Wichita when they were being built.
Saw a Starship fly once. Beautiful!! Cheers!
That's a beautiful machine. Nice shot Erik!!
Saw one over long beach last year. Such a strange looker

Soooooo much better looking than the Piaggio!
Hey Erik, I know you may not see this but I managed to catch this flying over by McKinney national airport a month ago and I caught it again today.

One of my favorites. Thanks Erik!
My pleasure!
You need to catch the Adam 500 at Redbird.

Fantastic video of this beautiful airplane!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wonderful!! Does anybody know why there is not any company building planes like these?
Man, you get spme great video and photos!! Awesome life I would think!!
Thanks 👍
The two engine great-grandsons of the CW XP-55? That thing is slick - not sure how it would fly on one engine with no rudder though.

@gww5215 Oh, the winglets are actually rudders?

I believe Starship’s engines sound similar to other turboprops from the outside. The cabin is quieter inside, though, because of their location.
Interes start up cart.
😎
How many of these are still flying?
Two I believe. I think this same owner has both of them.
Around 4-5.
No takeoff video?
I was working and had to get back to the ramp
the starship enterprise?
