I would argue that lactose intolerant should be a toggle and vegetarian should be a personality trait. It's also weird to me that vegetarians get sick after eating meat, instead of upset or disgusted. Perhaps it would be cool to add other allergies too.

So I sort of wish we had actual dietary/health related things vs choice traits. If you choose to be vegetarian or vegan, for instance, it should be a tense or sad moodlet because they're unhappy, not something illness related. Maybe they're give us a food allergy update in the future, lol

Me too, I always use this element and am bothered about its colour not fitting in. Colours on other building stuff / furniture I can usually get around with using a different style (inconvenient and not the best but whatever). So glad thats not going to be as annoying anymore though !

Oh, right, I parsed this completely wrong for a second and was so confused. It's not that there are new custom urns, but rather that the bug where they didn't drop if the property they were supposed to appear on wasn't actively loaded when they died has been fixed, so you can actually collect them again if you want like Simsie does to add to her ever-expanding graveyard (which is increasingly more graves than yard 😂). Not as a game-tracked collection but just for fun :P

I am just AMAZED they updated that basegame couch because that one is the most useable and "comfy" looking base game couch that fits so many styles. This is actually fantastic!
In EA's credit (for once), looking at it in the game it really doesn't look like that much has changed, then you see the number 650 and realize how much time that must've taken. Goes to show just how big this game really is (although if they didn't code it like spaghetti 10 years ago it would be so much easier to implement anything now).
Also I think they matched the bars with the countertops better. There didn't used to be matching swatches for all of them, like that orange and white swatch in particular was only available for the countertop But now they match! Yay!
I’m not the first to say it, but it’s definitely EA who are the clowns for the 10th anniversary stuff, especially when they announced a whole bunch of stuff later. Like all they needed to do was a post saying “Happy Birthday Sims 4! We have some exciting news coming soon!”
A way better way to give out free stuff while still rewarding players who play the game is just keeping the event going indefinitely and make it more like "here's a bunch of permenant achievements and their unlock rewards". As soon as a player completes one of the objectives, the item unlocks. Like career rewards just without the ability to unlock via a cheat. So if your account is linked, it unlocks an achievement or something and then rewards you. This way it doesn't leave players out who can't play during the event and then misses out. (Like me lol who has a severe disability and can't play at the moment.)
I think the point is to get people playing and excited. These are better than the mobile sims events for free stuff. You literally can’t achieve the tasks
As a sims builder, I have this urge to go back to my older builds where I wanted for example pink columns but didn't have them and just give those builds some upgrates, THIS UPDATE IS WHAT I NEEDED

my only issue is these are like 2014 swatches and I want 2024 swatches, I'm not gonna use these bright colours but i would use pastels and subtle patterns. Also bed swatches. More plain swatches are good tho
That was my complaint too. I didn't find any colors that were amicable.... Honestly, they're kinda hideous. They should've done more earth tones and pastels. I was disappointed because the hype never matches my expectations.

Fear of missing out mechanics should not exist in a cozy game. Its contradictory and only makes me want to play enough to get the stuff, then quit. If they want to do this sort of stuff it should have an infinite timeline, no cut off
Exactly. I don't have a computer right now and my laptop *cannot* handle the sims. I'm (hopefully) getting a new computer early next week or this weekend so I won't miss out on this event - unlike the last one - but man, do I hate this. Sure it's a reward for some but it's like a punishment for others who can't get it through no fault of their own
That’s the point though. They want to make this limited so that they could get more people playing the game at once and get people actually feel that obligatory feeling to play, cause it makes players excited to be a part of something ‘limited’. Sometimes they just can’t cater to everyone and you just have to accept it. 🤷🏻♀️ (Plus, if it’s only to hype up a new expansion pack, there’s no reason for them to make the timeline infinite)

It could help with extra funding or something like that. I'm not sure, but making mandatory log in stuff for a cozy game that many play to loose track of time and that I know many people play like once in a half year just seems scuffed. The Sims should be timeless, yet with those events it makes it feel dated and not like an alone standing timeless game like the Sims used to be

As someone with divorced parents and only a console at one house I am so so grateful for the sims team adding 2 additional weeks to the grim rewards because I have time to catch up💗🙏

i love seeing simsie get excited over small quality of life updates like a white swatch, it's so endearing 😭 i'm hardly a builder so most of these swatch updates would've likely gone completely over my head without this video
When i got to the end of the update post and saw the new items + items that got new swatches i GASPED at how long it was. But 650+ new swatches is still insane, i was thinking around 100-200 when i saw the post. I have all of the expansion packs and all of the game/stuff packs, i also use cc religiously but this is still so amazing. Im happy base game players finally have more build items and swatches.
It would have been EXTREMELY helpful if these things had been marked as new! I was quite surprised when I opened my game and found... nothing. (At first glance, at least.) I'm hoping you'll get your bed swatch update someday!!
I'm happy about the swatches, but I also wished they added new colors apart from the BG colors, like pastels. Imagine a pastel purple swatch on that couch :(

It will save them so much headache finding out what colours players want (when there are literally millions of players and each likes different colour palettes) and making those colours, when they can just give us a damn colour wheel and let us decide our own colours. at 0:21 in the video it looks like there's a whole kitchen set updated? i know you looked at the counters but it looks like we got new brown, pink, blue and green swatches of one of the kitchen counter sets
Those colours were added to the basic counters and cabinets in the Cats and Dogs update to match the vet items, I think they are showing that the whole matching set now has them (finally, they're the best swatches that aren't black or white imo).

The drape curtains, especially sized up, is one of the only curtains that I have to use that can fit over curved or rounded windows, like the big windows from castle estate kit. So having more colour options is great!
Everything being appropriately sized ia amazing! 😂 Having sliding doors and archways that actually FIT wall heights is HUGE for me! 😂 But the smaller bars are also so nice! It sucks needing to decide between a style of bar vs size thats right.
It sounds like they really listened to people's complaints with the new event! And with a bunch of the new items and swatches!! Hopefully they keep listening like that!
In apartments, University dorms, and penthouses: Walls and doors will now cut away properly in wall down/cutaway viewing mode. Strange wall patches and gaps are no longer visible in Wall Down View in San Myshuno Apartments. These are the two best bug fixes for me^
I’m pretty happy about the cupcake factory personally, I just used one the other day in a build and thought it was so disappointing how little it matched. This gives me options!
I feel like we still need MORE swatches tho. Like update the wallpapers/tiles/bricks. And the counters and beds. And the rugs need more variation. And its nice that they added more swatches to that one couch set buuuttt... my one complaint is that its all basegame colors. The basegame colors themselves are lacking in both pastels and dark darks. The colors available still feels very 2014 and not 2024. But at least the couches will match everything else in basegame so i cant complain about that.
I was JUST playing last night and trying to choose a range hood for a kitchen that was all brown. And I was sad because I didn’t think any of the current choices matched. 😂 can’t wait to log back in today and fix that range hood!

Thanks to them adding more pink swatches, I can finally build the pink dreamhouse I’ve been wanting to! (Don’t really own any packs yet, so I didn’t have access to much pink options before this update)

personally, i'm hoping for a horror movie that's super meta and existential, but i doubt it'll be anything like that considering the target audience for the game 😔

at 0:21 in the video it looks like there's a whole kitchen set updated? i know you looked at the counters but it looks like we got new brown, pink, blue and green swatches of one of the kitchen counter sets
Those colours were added to the basic counters and cabinets in the Cats and Dogs update to match the vet items, I think they are showing that the whole matching set now has them (finally, they're the best swatches that aren't black or white imo).

Yay for new swatches! It's always been needed.
The drape curtains, especially sized up, is one of the only curtains that I have to use that can fit over curved or rounded windows, like the big windows from castle estate kit. So having more colour options is great!
So fun with all the pink swatches! I kind of want to build a base-game barbie house now

Everything being appropriately sized ia amazing! 😂 Having sliding doors and archways that actually FIT wall heights is HUGE for me! 😂 But the smaller bars are also so nice! It sucks needing to decide between a style of bar vs size thats right.

In apartments, University dorms, and penthouses: Walls and doors will now cut away properly in wall down/cutaway viewing mode.
Strange wall patches and gaps are no longer visible in Wall Down View in San Myshuno Apartments.

I’m pretty happy about the cupcake factory personally, I just used one the other day in a build and thought it was so disappointing how little it matched. This gives me options!

I feel like we still need MORE swatches tho. Like update the wallpapers/tiles/bricks. And the counters and beds. And the rugs need more variation. And its nice that they added more swatches to that one couch set buuuttt... my one complaint is that its all basegame colors. The basegame colors themselves are lacking in both pastels and dark darks. The colors available still feels very 2014 and not 2024. But at least the couches will match everything else in basegame so i cant complain about that.
Don’t worry , it will only take another 10 years before they will add other swatches to the base game stuff lol

Today marks the end of Simsie’s blue suburban era and the beginning of her pink suburban era.
I was JUST playing last night and trying to choose a range hood for a kitchen that was all brown. And I was sad because I didn’t think any of the current choices matched. 😂 can’t wait to log back in today and fix that range hood!
They are working on a sims movie.. people keep correlating it to probably being like Barbie Movie... someone(s) at sims team is having a pink freak moment with swatches...
