    I love videos like these because when people say hair typing is dumb, it’s perfectly clear that not all natural hair is the same so why would I watch 3c/4a videos if I was 4c, I mean don’t get me wrong, sometimes the tips are helpful but for the most part, it’s not gonna come out the same

    • @locturallylocs9097
      @locturallylocs9097 5 років тому +45

      Exactly! this is why I cringe the most when I see black women drooling over hair video's by mixed raced women. Even tho there are exceptions, MOST of them do not have 4c hair. We need to press 'next' and keep it moving.

    • @graup1309
      @graup1309 6 років тому +119

      @@Rose-jz6sx yes! Me too. I've actually probably learnt more from tutorials of especially 4C girls about my own hair (which, mind you, is almost entirely straight) than I have ever learnt from your average blonde girl with straight/wavy hair. Mainly because my hair is a fucking mess and I've never convinced it to hold any shape other than its natural one for longer than a day. Even if I put what feels like 2 cans of hair spray in it.
      That's what I love about natural hair tutorials, especially from 4C girls. They talk about stuff like breakage and just generally the problems they have with their hair, whereas most tutorials by white girls act like hair is just naturally perfect and could never break or thin or anything. No, everyone has perfect voluminous hair that naturally falls in big beautiful waves, while I'm sitting at home and air drying my hair without letting a brush come near it bc otherwise it will just be glued to my head.

      exactly. the caption is what made me watch this. this is funny and true all at the same time. I am natural and( I've had my moments of wanting straight hair again (a perm) but honestly) I don't think i'll ever go back to perms. I'm happy with my hair. But the trick to being natural, at least one trick, is....just like this video, you can watch a video for guidance or instructions but the hair texture - you can't watch a video with a girl who has 1/2 curly hair from the start and think that your hair is going to turn out the same. I just remember people like Mahogany Curls and one other girl and from the start, I clearly watched for instruction only. No matter the styling method, and definitely the product you use, your hair type is what dictates how your hair will turn out. There is no miracle product. I still, to this day, use flax seed gel in almost every style, because that's what works for me. So yes, watch and learn, and also be realistic, like this video. This video is a great job and funny simultaneously.

    You are so beautiful and quite the comedian. Great video. FYI:. All black hair is not created equal, but I am 44 and have thick, full 4 ish hair. However, my hair no longer will be at it's healthiest if I blow dry, flat iron, or color...so i no longer do those things. I just wash, condition, towel/air dry and moisturize and people are amazed at how thick my hair is as an aging woman. Your hair may be thinning in front for your blow drying. Also your hair came out nice...you can also pin up sides for a FoHawk..Just a thought beautiful .

    They often put "sodium hydroxide" (lye), which is what I think you meant to say, in small amounts into a product to balance the pH level of the product; it is fine. You can find it in some shampoos on the very bottom of the ingredients' list.

    • @victoriau623
      @victoriau623 6 років тому +21

      Marleen G. As a first year cosmetic scientist this is indeed true, NaOH is added to increase the ph and make it more basic and citric acid is added when u need to decrease the ph and make it more acidic. This is all done in small amounts and does not hurt

    • @Desaundrea
      @Desaundrea 6 років тому +17

      However, If you find Sodium Hydroxide or Potassium Hydroxide in the first two lines of the ingredient list, you need to put that product back where you found it. This means there is more of the lye in that product than you would be comfortable with.

    • @amixeblu
      @amixeblu 6 років тому +3

      Very true, it depends on where on the ingredients' list it is. Normally if it is towards the end, you have nothing to worry about. Still, I am always careful but I do have products in my stash (some shampoos from Aldi) that have it as their last ingredients.

    Your hair came out very cute. I watched this when she did first it and admired it. However; she lost me at flat twist since I don't know how so it was a wash for me. I know she said you can use regular twists also, but the two types of twist out look different. Nap85 just has skills!!!

    • @veghead05

      veghead05 thanks; but trust and believe I have watched and tried to follow nap85's and many other peeps flat twist and cornrow tutorials. Many of the ladies have said just keep trying and practicing, but I've learned that it's just not going to happen. I gave up at the point where I managed to get my hair so tangled that I had to get six inches cut off.✂️✂️ Lawd what a mess!! 🤔 🤨😁 😂 🤣

    • @veghead05
      @veghead05 6 років тому +5

      1GoldenBreeze 😰 I struggle with it too, especially since I'm so rusty. Not sure how the tangles happened tho? I know my hair is more anti almost everything when I haven't been keeping up with moisturizing n deep treatments, especially in the winter. It's like a different head of hair. Experiencing that now.

  • @nightfoxrushing2464
    @nightfoxrushing2464 6 років тому +2

    Okay I finished watching.😄 Great technique! You just need moisture first!!!
    Deep moisturize your hair for a couple of days in a plastic cap overnight, then repeat the style. I'll bet you'll love it and your hair condition will improve!😍
