  • After hearing rumors that the first snow had fallen in the mountains, Heather and Dana set off in search of some high quality snowliage. They take the 4x4 Ophir Pass Trail from Silverton to Telluride, meanwhile the weather turns nasty, making the journey a true adventure.

    Graupel is hail with water inside...considered deadly in mountaineering since after exploding the chilled water freezes on you rapidly..

    Ophir Pass was never that groomed in the past..70s and 80s it was angled and only double track..a full grade harder 🤠

      Yeah, things tend to get easier over the years. I'm sure back in the day it was hard even in a Jeep!

    Truck with proper equipment??! 🤣🤣 it's a Ford with some little tires...ugh....what....a fkn prius could of made that

      Ha, have you driven Ophir? Don't think a Prius could make it, but it would be fun so see how far up one could go! We like off-roading for the views versus the technical challenge, so 35 inch tires, rear locker, onboard air, and recovery gear felt like a good safety net, even though the truck wasn't pushed to it's limits.
