Just found this video was great much information and great explanation only thing was the audio was a little quite but it could be my old tablet. Thanks for the video was a great help in understanding how it all works.
I did a benchy as my second test print and left the default high quality settings to see how well it did it and how long it took, about 4.5 hours and very good detail, surprised at the time but hey it worked and now I know how to modify the settings more, I am still using the default extruder temp of 195c for PLA is that ok as I noticed you said in the video to bump it up to I think 210c, what is the advantage in that? great video thanks
Glad you had success. In my opinion, 0.1mm layer height is far too fine and slow for general printing. I think 0.2mm is accepted as a good compromise these days.
Great video, I wish I had found it earlier. Have wasted so many hours finding this all out the hard way :( Are you able to share some settings tips for S3D?
Thanks PG. I believe I used the default PLA setting in Simplify3D with changes to the extruder and bed temp only (210C and 60C). The only other thing I did was tweak th start and end gcode.
you mentioned at the start that the Cura version is specially setup for the cocoon create, is it worth downloading the latest version or staying with what was provided? thanks again
It's an old version so I think once you've learned the ropes, explore the newer version of Cura and other slicing software. It will help build your skills and knowledge.
I suddenly found that the printer bed was out of level by about 2mm. Checking I found one side of the Extruder Tower bars was higher than the other. I thought I could just move one stepper motor of the Extruder bars to make the adjustment, But, even with the power disconnected , turning one also turned the other.( With no power and no physical how does this occur) So before I undid any stepper motor collar, I searched for an instruction video without success. Have you made a video on how to adjust the the Extruder Tower motores so the bars are parallel to the bed? Kerry in Gympie Qld
Thanks Michael, you're video was exactly what I was looking for to get my slicer settings dialed in
You're welcome, thanks for watching.
Thanks for making this video, having some issues and I think this will really help me solve them, great having instructions for this specific printer.

Thanks Byson, better mic is on the way.
A lot of great info there for novice and intermediate alike. Thanks for another great addition to the Cocoon 3D Printer. :-)
Thanks for the kind words John.
Brilliant video dude... keep up your great work!
Thanks Paul. Going to start modding this printer soon. Videos to come.

thankyou Michael great video :)
Thanks! It would be nice if it is were as popular as the first.
how fast would a top of the line industrial unit complete this task ?
Don't have experience with one sorry.
Waiting and watching the printer do it's thing as part of the fun. If the result was instant it would lose it's charm pretty quickly.
