At last a definite answer from someone who knows and understands the engineering principles, as to which oil to use in my MkII
Thanks for posting this vid. My square head runs +4mm carbs and pipes. Revs out well.
Fascinating. I would love to have known all this when I had my lovely LeMans MKV.
Bill is such a wealth of knowledge.
Great video. I found Bill's comments about header pipe size interesting . I have an S3 which in my younger days modified with 36mm carbs, lightened flywheel, ported/polished heads, mild cam and heads sleeved to about 850mm plus a couple of other mods but the most noticeable improvement was 42mm 2 into 1 headers , into a supertrapp. (maybe it just tied it all together)
Just finished your valve guide series w/K-Lining series and I'm thoroughly enjoying your channel Mike, and Bill is a wealth of knowledge I could listen to all day. Thanks for all this.......... and I don't even have a Guzzi
Many thanks Jim. I'm planning on a few more videos with Bill when he has time.
The most intresting video ive seen in a long time..
Great questions and thoroughly enlightening answers! Thank both of you guys for taking the time and energy to make this possible.
Once covid is out of the way we have a few more videos planned.
Fascinating stuff . Now , where did I put my dremel ? .
You have a beautiful Guzzi Le Mans congratulations to you!
Yeah, Great Man about Amazing Trademark!! 🏍🇮🇹👍
If the inlet ports are filled in by 6mm at the bottom, how does that affect the carb bore being round I wonder ?
Excellent video, thanks a lot.
Cheers 👍😎
The guy looks like the best engineer ever lived
Wow.
very cool to see, used to work at a very well known Moto Guzzi store in the Netherlands. curious to hear if he met Teo in Australia.
Yes, Bill and Teo know each other. They both live in country Victoria about 2 hours drive apart.
The website should be: www.hpower.com.au
These videos are very interesting. Great tuning advice, make some more videos with this guy. Maybe show some of the ported heads with dimensions or silicone molds?
Fixed the link thanks! Bill is building a very special Moto Guzzi Le Mans at the moment. I hope to do a story on that when it's completed.
Really interesting, man knows his onions....
What difference does the Spacer make to oil change life and engine temperature in traffic & hot 🥵 weather ?
Thanks Paul
None, since you use the same amount of oil, it lowers the crank case pressure and the oil level to reduce oil going out of the breather
So Mike, based on this advice have you decided to replace that standard big crossover chamber "third Muffler" for a straight pipe?
At some point when it rusts out which won't be far off!
@@MikesMachines Don't let the boot guard mounting tabs get rusty as you can get them welded onto the new crossover.
Curious if those mods (D-shaped inlet port & larger primary pipe) would work for a smaller block MG? Say a V65..
The V65 uses a heron head with quite different flow characteristics to the hemi heads of the big block motors so probably not.
Mike what is your take on the 2000 Quota?
I've never ridden the Quota and don't know much about it sorry.
Mike, do you have any suggestions on how to best adjust a v7 classic clutch lever? I’ve looked for specs and can’t find any, I’m guessing it’s the generic 10-20mm of play at the handle? It’s best to adjust when the bike is cold? Sorry for so many questions, thanks in advance!
I adjust them so that there is a couple of mm free play at the pivot point which is probably around 10 - 20 at the lever end. Do it cold and check that it doesn't tighten up when hot.
@@MikesMachines thank you sir!
