Awesome man. You're like a John Danaher for kids that can't stay awake in class.
Ryan Lynch you mean Craig Jones?
Hahaha
A buddy of mine was chatting the other day he was like "I can either sit through the 3 hour danaher complete history and understanding of XYZ tech or I can get it straight up from Lachlan"
@@aplus1080 #fuckcraigjones
Based.
That was absolutely the best instructional on how to escape side control that I have ever seen. So many beautiful little derails. Thank you 🙏🏻
Would love a similarly detailed look at the other side control escape you discussed!
The best side control escape instructional so far!
That little tip about moving the head is great!!
James Young until they rip an arm bar lol
@@simlittle89 think Lachlan might’ve thought of that before you did
Worked on this yesterday. All the steps worked great until I tried to get my top knee in (no space). Watching again I realized I need to flare up my elbow to make space. Will try this today. Thanks for the detailed video.
its more easy for short legs ppl. In my case with long legs I find it very difficult to do
Some very nice wee details. Common mistakes and their consequences are very clearly emphasised here - nice work, Lachlan.
Holy cwap man....that was impressive teaching.
Man, you are an excellent teacher. This is refreshing to hear such clear instruction
Wow, great break down brother. I'm gonna start drilling that tonight. I never push away with the bottom leg so I think you just solved a huge problem I'm always getting into.
For me your videos are the best! Concise, clear and interesting. Thank you! 👍
this is priceless, watching after Danaher's escape video.
Great simple but effective moves. Thanks!
I also thought it was perhaps better than Danaher’s explanation and technique, in less than half the time. Fun to watch
this is the answer why my knee has always been pushed away...awesome man, thank you very much!!
You should come to America to Seattle and do a seminar... I'd so be there. ALWAYS GOOD STUFF
I just back to back watched this and Danaher's How's to do the perfect side escape vid.
Imma share my epiphany real quick:
Lachlan talks about pushing the opponent's head away above yours so that you may escape your hip properly when he has a good pinch with his right elbow.
That is scary to do because you can end up with your left arm out of posture and it becomes hard AF to prevent the full mount.
But Danaher talks about keeping your right knee on the opponent's right hip and walking away (with your left foot) inch by inch.
Combine these two things and you get a way to escape that hip WHILE preventing both the full mount and getting out of posture.
Battle testing in 2 hours!
Yes that is correct, the knee should be at the hip and there is no mount
@@AbsoluteMMAStKilda Mr.Giles i brought your dvd i had it for 2 weeks now in its changing my half guard game
How'd the battle testing go?
Please reply back with an update.
really great details and troubleshooting, thanks!
great video
Best one out of the many many side control escape vids I’ve watched!!! Excellent detail.
Lachlan, very nice explanation!
Bad ass move. Will use it next time when rolling
praise cheebus for lachlan!!!
Wow! This is on another level! Thanks.
Can't wait to get in class and try this!!
Thank you so much for sharing all this detail!! Amazing!
Excellent. Thank You.
This is great content, thank you.
Thank you so much you got yourself a sub! Gonna try this on the mat tomorrow
I try to bring my elbow to knee as quick as possible if they pass to side control before they establish a strong position, I call that "shields up".
Tell em, Batman! Lol
The detail here you need to bridge opposite of the direction of the shoulder pressure to create space
After watching Danaher's side control escape video I didn't think I can learn much out of it. But well I still did!
Thanks Lachlan :)
Good video
So easy to remember. Head away. Elbow frame. Hip escape. Knee frame. Left knee frame. Pull out the head. Push away and foot on the hip!
Wow now I see why he did so well at adcc
That was awesome!
Great tips! Thank you
So good.
Great video. Also love the rashguard. haha
My name is Bryan Gile, and I approve this escape.... and also Lachlan's last name 🙌
Gold
At the moment I go to clear his arm from my head he transitions to north/south because there is no frame on the hip anymore. To prevent this should I do it really fast? or Should my frame on his neck/shoulder be enough to prevent N/S transition?
Where can I get that Jurassic Park themed rash guard ??!
спасибо
Wow I think I understand frames alot better now ..
i been leading with my knee
GOLD!!!
Awesome
Day after Danaher's...;-)
😂😂😂
At least Lachlan is a good guy
@@ryanroyal9236 agree
But Frankly, I like Lachlan's version better.
Yeah but I bet Danahers was like 45 minutes long
His partner in top is holding the Gable grip incorrectly!! 1:40 that’s how you break your thumb Brad lol
Is this good in gi?
The best way to escape it is to not give away "underhook & crossface" 😇
The giant killer strikes again
Oss
I wish I had seen this 10 years ago. It would have made my life a lot easier. Thank you
Lmao
Have played around with this, and seems to work really well. Also can be combined with Danaher's.
give a like if you're the guy that leads with their knee...
the detail at 3:35 was good
The guy on top can go to knee on belly fairly easy with that escape.
How is the guy on top gonna get his knee over your belly with your knee holding his leg down? The escapee’s knee is on the opponent’s hip. The guy on top won’t be able to get his leg passed in order to do knee on belly.
Thanks lachlan , as usual very detailed and clearly explained. This goes to show another way to escape side control with proper framing, structure and alignment ☺
So many details that make this perfect. Thank you for posting this! I have been missing so many of the details thus making it hard for me to escape. Like not flaring out my arm, and jamming in my whole leg.

Nicely done, learned more than I thought I would
Anybody hear what sounded like a random moan @ 2mins 16sec? Lachlan has got some trolls in his midst. Thanks for the breakdown
Explicas mejor que DANAHER!! Thanks!!
Hmm...los dos son excelente
Nice video, the only thing I didn't agree with was the "don't lead with the knee" comment. While I understand what you're trying to say it's not 100% true.
So many amazing small details. Best side control escape tutorial I have ever seen. TY
Hey TREEfool! It's me, Anonymous Internet User Fawkes. Let's try this IRL.
You are fucking awesome
Never mind that how do you get a DKR rash guard?
Excellent.
I was just drilling this exact escape yesterday. Simple and super effective.
Best videos!
When Lachlan speaks...I implement
Does this work with Kesa Gatame?
Thank you for this instructional
beautiful details thank you
i ve never seen something like that. simply amazing.
Outstanding technique and presentations.
Wow best side control escape
Genuinely great video
As soon as I get the first hip frame at 2:23, my opponent simply switches his hips to face my arm (like a scarf hold hip position). I can no longer get the knee in. Has anyone been in this position and knows what I should do?
Cheers
thaer12345 Hi. When your opponent moves into a scarf hold (modified Kesa Gatame), you should retract the elbow closest to his hip as soon as you recognize his move (let’s say the right one, to match the situation on this video). Now you’re able to turn to your right side, putting your right shoulder and hip on the mat, shrimp back and bring your right knee between yourself and him, re-establishing your guard.
This video is pure gold
Love the details. Thanks Lachlan!
Watch the arm bar 😂
Great explanation
Absolute gold
This was gold!
Solid
DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome.
Good stuff in here
Beautiful
Sometimes you come across someone that gives small details that will make all the difference. Thank you.

Awesome video! Will try and get to you guys some time :) (am in sydney)
Fantastic video! Great details in the explanation.
I like the knee jam escape. 👊🏽
Micro details
