I’m a field service welder for a heavy equipment dealer and use carbon arc on a daily basis, one thing I think should be added is to use a respirator or a papr system because this process blasts particles of material into the air that we shouldn’t breathe.
Im a production welder in a shipyard and air arcing is so common out in that field, you become a pro at it.

What causes your leads to get to hot
Very noisy process and definitely want to keep all flammable away.
