I had an ex who would say to me what are you drunk. Whenever we would go for a walk I’d end up waving my way into him. Like not walking a straight line, at that time I was recently diagnosed with a vestibular disorder. It’s nice to know that you can train a dog to help keep you up right. I’ve notice I walk faster with my walker because it gives me a sense of stability. It’s amazing how service dogs and mobility aids can give us so much freedom and independence!

Such an excellent video. I’m from France, retired, but spending more and more time in the US, and it’s amazing to see how more widely accepted service dogs are here in the us, they have more rights and the owner with them, and we can train them ourselves or with someone’s help on simple tasks that can save our life. I have a vestibular problem , and without warning I can start a serious vertigo episode. Each time this is about to happen, my dog naturally starts sniffing me around my face and starts barking. It gives me that precious time to go find my medeicne which will act quickly and will contain the episode from happening. Without the alert from my dog, I wouldn’t be able to walk three feet straight and safely to find my medecine.

My son and I are going to see 2 golden retriever pups tomorrow that have been set aside for service dog training. Sadly for me, we're looking into one of these two for my son whose Hemipeligic Migraines are worse than mine. But I am excited for him! The timing of this video was perfect for us. He's intellectually disabled, so watching a video like this is a huge help!

I always get “oh I get headaches too” not saying your headaches aren’t bad but mine are debilitating migraines that are dangerous when I am in public alone. Everyone’s disability is different. Not every condition is disability. Like you said there are different severities.
Have you thought about doing a tug command to help you get up instead of doing a brace command? Bracing isn’t necessarily very good on the dog even if trained to do it. I was just curious. I don’t want that to come crossed as mean or harsh. Everyone has different preferences and different reasons for different tasks

I just love watching dogs work and how much they love working! My sister has 2 pitbill "lap dogs" lol that love doing commands. You can tell how happy they are to do them. So smart and sweet.

How did you get qualified to have a service dog? I understand that all the states are different in regards to the law. I am just curious about your experience. Great video by the way. ❤

There is nothing you need to do to get qualified to have a service dog in the US. You need to only have a disability that a service dog can help with. You don't even need a diagnosis or a letter from a doctor in most cases except maybe getting on a plane or receiving school/housing accommodations

Did you have is joints assessed by OFA and/or PennHip since you are using him for bracing and mobility? I’m currently self-training my now 8-month-old shepherd/husky mix and will not be doing any mobility work until she is hopefully cleared after the age of 2. I’m an amputee with a debilitating nerve condition and was diagnosed with Graves’ 6 months back, and I’m grateful she is already large enough (75+ lbs) for doing DPT to lower spikes in my heart rate as well as opening doors, hitting handicap door buttons, etc. So glad you have Buddy!

Oh boy, I just learn I have to give my service dog growth nutrition... I have a Havanese (migraine- dis- and seizure alert) but I need a Newfoundlander.😂
To hold on and stand up from the floor. But I don't want an other sweetheart than I have now. She is my Angel! (She thinks she is a big dog, so maybe that's enough😅)

Oops! Like this, with a handle on the side! It fit so well under a little side cabinet we had in our bathroom, and Buddy could easily grab the little handle without slobbering the bag amzn.to/3MZgfM8

Hey Jen, you once said that you only fainted while pregnant. Did that change?

Pregnancy was when it started, but it continued until I went to POTS Care Clinic and got it under control with Dr Driscoll.

Any recommendations when you kept getting dismissed from your Dr's before they took you seriously?
I'm also a victim of medical gaslighting, and I'm ready to give up because they make me feel like I'm crazy after a head injury.

I'm so sorry 😞 My only recommendation is to not give up, because help is out there. It's okay to take time in between, because it's traumatizing.
