    GREAT IDEA FOR A DIY VID.!
    yes there are tons of "how to's" on putting this stuff up , but I think it's awesome you took the total opposite approach of what's all the rave,,,with everyone slapping up tiles ,. But you've showed us how to remove all those trendy tiles , that we just one day don't like anymore,
    So thanks for taking the time

    This has been very helpful. I need to remove a blue speckled border of tile and just leave the remaining white tiles as the blue is looking dated. I hope it works.

    Be prepared to have to replace drywall if that's what the old tiles are stuck to! I've just started stripping a kitchen and the previous tiled used large dabs of tile adhesive meaning when they came away they've brought large chunks of plasterboard with them! No choice no but to cut out the plasterboard and replace.

    I had to laugh at another video which purported to show how to remove tiles. He did remove the tiles all right but broke every one🙂 I think we already knew how to break them off.

    Rob I'm trying to remove just one L-shaped cut tile to replace it with a whole tile after a new boiler was fitted nearby. It just refuses to budge, all the levering with my chisel wont move it, any ideas?

      A home jackhammer and get it off in bits. That tile may have been cemented in. If you make a small hole in doing so, just patch up wall.

    Can be a real challenge (if you care about your health) taking the tiles off an asbestos wall. Would a heat gun be sufficient in softening the tile adhesive?

    I’ve just done this on a small area of tiles but think I might have breathed some of the grout dust in (only a tiny bit). There was nothing about wearing a mask so I’ll be fine right?

    • @markdillon8605
      @markdillon8605 2 роки тому

      You’ll be fine if it’s a little grout dust....but in saying that if you have an old house which has tiles backed by asbestos board as that also needed to be messed you should down tools and call in the professionals.

    This video is misleading in terms of removing the tile adhesive; it is not as simple as just scraping it off -- the hardened adhesive does not flake off easily.

    • @harrybouch7907
      @harrybouch7907 Рік тому

      So what do you propose instead?

    • @reggieflukerii879
      @reggieflukerii879 Рік тому

      @@harrybouch7907 Other videos that I've watched use steam to soften the adhesive first. Then it scrapes off easily. They use a steamer similar to one used in removing wall paper. I have not tried it, but from experience, I know that dry tile adhesive doesn't flake off easily
