- My wife had to have an Emergency Surgery in a Japanese hospital. Unfortunately, I was away for filming that day in Yamanashi when it happened so I had to rush back to Tokyo to pick up my son Wolfy from nursery as she wasn't able to pick him up. Fortunately the surgery in the Tokyo Hospital went well, but this what happened in our Japan life over the next few days in Tokyo. Sorry this isn't part our regular video cycle. Unfortunately that's not how UA-cam algorithm works. Many channels died because the creator took a "break" and his videos got dropped from the algorithm.

That is such a mom thing to do. Like she's about to be hospitalized and the first thing she's worried about is not herself but her son and husband. For everyone reading this give your mom a hug if youre not living with her give her a call and/or visit her. Mom's are dope.
Women are known to be able to manage pain better than most guys and tend to be very organised - shuffle excruciating pain to the side, make arrangements, take yourself to the hospital... Incredible lady :)

@@salmanulfarisyv.r868 Dude. That is uncalled for and totally off topic. What he said is true - women are better when it comes to managing physical pain, it is kinda a biological requirement if you think about it. Every individual is different but on average is it clearly the case.
Don't go all macho on me, I've seen guys pass out at the sight of needles and cry like babies when in pain. Guys in the army also know what they are signing for and go despite that. Thing is, adrenaline and testosterone keep us going and distracted. When among other men, it is also a matter of pride and rivalry. It is easy to get angry and push away the pain. A quick slap (physical or verbal) and a man is right back on track. It is part of the survival and protector instinct in men and what makes male soldiers so good at their jobs - if you die, your family is next so you keep going despite everything. The couterpart of the motherly instinct which the OP was talking about and you totally missed.
What the OP also said is right on point - the first thing that pops in a mom's head is her child and husband. Maybe because pain has a lesser impact than what a man would feel but nontheless. It's amazing. Now go hug you mother.
My mom isn't dope she really didn't start being a mom the right way til i was going into my early teen years and i can't hug or see her because she lives in my home town and i moved to Texas it's to difficult to make a visit happen right now hopefully in the future I'll be able to visit her and my siblings and my three beautiful niece's and my handsome nephew back home and them come here to Texas

The no visitors is criminal level cruelty. My wife was hospitalized in Japan for over 2 months and was not allowed visitors.

as a Norwegian I am not going to say anything, just worried about that Norwegian famous waiting list and being send home to early, to save on bed space... unless I go to a private hospital... money! (but that's what we have insurance for) (although some of it is now under the same system as rest of the public hospitals)

@@TheBigGSN5 But why do they want so much money? How can such a high expense be justified. I am Italian and apart from a few small tickets in case of private visits, here we do not even spend 1 € to be hospitalized for this I can not understand the concept of having to pay to be treated.
@@Akaprovic they are for profit businesses, so they basically get from you and the insurance companies as much money as they can extract.
I went to hospitals multiple times for my family and myself in Alberta, Canada. The most expensive thing is the parking ticket.

In my part of Canada, I need to pay like $80 USD every 3 months. If I am from low-income group or a senior, I don't even need to pay. But I need to pay for my regular medicine, but not when I am in the hospital.
I hope she recovers back to 100% soon. You guys are kind and brave to share such a personal and delicate situation with us, so thank you. As a person dying to go to Japan, I enjoy your videos and I don’t “expect” them, sometimes me and my son (who wants to go as his graduation present in a couple of years) just watch old videos and try to figure out our trip. Thanks a lot you guys! Wolfe is adorable reminds me of my 1-almost 2 year old.

It sucks to be stuck at the hospital, but at least it looks like she is being well fed and taken care of. In my country it is really depressing being in a hospital (like public ones), so it really doesn't help with recovery.

For Paolo doing all the childcare and daily tasks, to Maiko enduring two surgeries and recovery and having the mental load of thinking of all that is going on at home, I would find that SO difficult! I really enjoyed watching this video. I actually had a very similar situation recently-at the end of May I had to have unexpected gallbladder removal surgery and was in the hospital for 4 days away from my 9 month old and 4 year old. Daddy was at home being single dad with both kids and it was tough for all of us. I actually found that video calls made it worse and made the kids more upset that mommy wasn’t home. My wife travels for work. When our children were little, those trips were hard all around. I think it’s hardest on the parent away for having to contend with the feeling that they should be with the child/children. On a related note, I found that _My Neighbor Totoro_ (「となりのトトロ」) is a very different emotional experience rewatching it after having children. (Bring tissues, if you haven’t tried this yet.)
I can't imagine having to go into the hospital all by yourself or being on the outside & not being able to be there- plus take care of a little one too. Glad you had Wolfie to keep you occupied Paolo! And sending all the speedy recovery vibes to you, Maiko!
