This third is without a doubt the most underrated of the trilogy. However, I consider it the best of the 3, the development of Mal in this movie was very good, even superior to the previous 2, I liked that all the mistakes he made in the previous 2 fell on him, such as having taken Audrey's boyfriend, having humiliated Uma when they were girls and not being able to believe that Uma could also be good and in the end she helped her and the fairest thing for everyone was to destroy the barrier because just like everyone deserves a second chance and that was taught by Uma and Hades that although they were not going to receive anything in return they helped anyway, plus I feel that unlike the other 2 this one doesn't waste so much time with unnecessary plots and has a better development so to speak. In short, all 3 seem equally enjoyable and decent to me and I am glad that it is not so overrated by another saga that is bad and that it has aged terribly over time cofcofHSMcofcof
“hey jay…thanks for saving me, gorgeous face.” OKAY I DONT REMEMBER THAT PART WTF ISTG THIS MOVIE WOULDVE BEEN BETTER IF THERE WAS SMTH GOING ON BETWEEN THEM
Tbh the third one is my favorite. I don't really know why, but Audrey was the most relatable antagonist. After Mal basically stealing everything she has ever believed in (was what heavily manipulated by her grandmom), her loosing her love and loosing herself. Within "Queen of mean" you can see her breaking, refusing to accept what happened. In her Pain and Emptyness she decided to turn bad (which I can appreciate tbh since especially when ur mentally on a bad place, you can relate to her). It just filled her as a character so much. To the songs being BANGERS (Queen of mean, Knight Falls, One kiss and once upon a time) and my favorites in the whole franchise. Am I looking too much into it? Yes. But that's what I felt when I watched it for the first time and that's why it's my favorite. Plus Audrey turning evil but her not being herself and creating her own dark persona, she just turns into a knock off version of the evil queen (the queen of mean) which further shows how low she actually is.
@@diypropsmodels7064it's been stated in the Audrey diary (which has been confirmed canon) that she DID love him... or at least it was more complicated. She had been pressured her whole life to fall in love with Ben and when she met him she truly believed she was in love with him. And she doesn't realize that it wasn't love until the end of this movie.
A song that I really like from the soundtrack of this movie is Rotten To The Core (D3 Remix). Is a different version of the song from Descendants with Uma, Harry, Celia and Audrey added to the mix.
Dove was thee center of attention. Especially as the last film, the rest of the gang was turned into minor side characters... Even worse that Cameron passed right before the premiere and, as one of his last roles that everyone was looking forward to, it was even more noticeable how badly the writers completely gipped everyone out of characters they spent building in the previous films.
hades is played by cheyenne jackson who also played caleb from jatp. celia is played by jadah marie who also played flynn in jatp. booboo played willie in jatp
This was my favorite movie out of the trilogy, I couldn't understand the hate, totally different vibe to the others, and I love the odd chemistry between mal and hades.
i could be wrong but when hades used the ember he was bringing back Audrey's soul because when Mal used it not only was it tempermental in her hands but it was just revived so it was faulty even with that so when Audrey was knocked out she was ecentially put under... which is ironic considering her lineage...
btw the actors hae said it was kind of a head cannon for the hook guy and jay to hae that chemistry similar to evie and mal dove said she felt evie and mals relationship was the only love she knew before ben she wasnt close with the others as much. they kinda killed it with the mulans daughter thing
Actually, it's possible that the story will be retconned someday to read like Isabela and Mariano from Encanto. Granny pushing Audrey into a relationship with a man she doesn't love, just to keep Granny happy. It seems to me that what hurt her the most about losing Ben was losing Granny's approval.
Descendants 3 is my fav one out them all, don't get me wrong, I love the 3 of them a lot, but this one is so good in my opinion, and I love the song: "Do what you gotta Do" (I don't know if that's the exact name of the song), the song that Hades and Mal sang togeather, probably my fav one lol....
I would say the budget for hair and makeup increased with every movie though I was never a fan with the terrible CGI (Disney has money) the songs always slapped though ( I take it back only in the first 2 movies )that dance battle was top tier cringe
I feel like the descendants movies are like the 3 acts of a book. Act 1- the first movie: introducing the world and charicters, and the main plot set up. Act 2-second movie: setting up an antagonist and internal conflict for the mc: Mal. Act3-movie 3: wrapping up Charicter arcs and the overall conflict- also where the most action takes place (in my opinion) Just take away the intro of the last two movies and it coudl be co sided one long movie with a lot of time jumps.
This is not the end of descendants lore we were guaranteed there will be more it sounds like there could be more on the way. Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer of Disney Branded Television, said in a statement, “Descendants introduced a fantasy world of stories and characters, anchored in Disney mythology. … It had the benefit of immensely talented stars, who we now welcome back for this animated Royal Wedding special that will bridge the audience to what we hope will be a new chapter of compelling Descendants stories and characters yet to come.”
ok listen i was rewatching the movies the other day because your videos made me in the mood, and i always planned on making a big descendants video addressing all that i love and not love about it lmao (which is basically harriyana hook's whole channel lmao) but here are a few things about this one i think about: - i think the hate on the third was inevitable if you watched the movies live. the world of decendants is just too big and high stakes, like the premise alone, for it to have a satisfying ending. the concept of the isle is flawed in itself because they were like ok let's take criminals, and people affiliated with them, not give them a trial, and just trap them on an island together, with no rehabilitation, no resources no nothing. so like of course the kids shouldn't be there in the first place and they should be taken out if they want. so uma being like every kid needs to be able to leave is the only logical plan. but it's like the parents are still criminals that are at different levels of danger so again, their entire system was flawed and it's too complicated for a disney movie to dismantle, so they just had them free everyone and forget the fact that this is a prison technically. cuz when the series ended i was 19 and i was like the fuck? anyway that was my main thing - then i was like ok lets forget that, my other annoyance that i kinda get but annoys me is that descandants became like the mal show. i know it mainly was her story in the first movie, but they had the other 3 have some storyline of their own. i understand that its a movie, there is only so many stories ou can tell, lemonade mouth had a similar problem, like i understand. but still, i was like mal was just going through the same thing every movie. then i realized wait a second, so did troy bolton, damn this is just a dcom lead problem. and i really like the core 4 as a group i just wished they could shine more as a team. there are details here and there, acting choices, background things that show it and i love that but it's still annoying. anyway. - this is just my fun headcanons and stuff, but i remember after the second movie, tumblr went crazy with like no one in this series seems to be straight lmao. i was like haha, wouldn't be funny if hook was pan (cuz peter pan, get it *sigh*) and i think its so funny how they tried pairing jay with audrey after movie 1, then with lonnie when the actress left in movie 2, then in movie 3 they were like fuck it, jay and gil! and the headcanon i have bases solely on the interactions between harry and jay in the two movies is that harry and jay used to be kind of a thing, as much as you are on the isle, they had a little thing going, but it ended badly when jay left, and so they mess with each other when they see each other for the first time, like you can see tension, and they push specific buttons in movie 2. in movie 3, it continues, but then jay starts talking and bonding with gil and harry is annoyed and jelaous, but when jay saves him they lowkey make up, and jay and gil go on that trip around the world and fall in love lmao. in my head it's canon that they're confirmed. - i love audrey's transformation but she,s not a great villain, she kinda does nothing after a certain point, i wish they made her a bit more interesting. or had a different villain. - i like the songs though, listen to them all the time. - because i just rewatched the movies literally, like i remember the third movie being a disappointment in terms of franchise, like it's not what i wanted for the ending of it all, but it's not like a bad movie. it just doesn't hold up to the other 2 i think
I'm not so sure about this... But I read a passage from the book Rise of the Isle of the Lost (if I am not mistaken) that Harry and Jay had something... But when Mal and Uma drifted apart they also avoided each other... Jay avoided Harry first, I think... Correct me if I'm wrong... It's just how I interpreted that passage...
I really love watching reaction videos like this because you get to see the points pretty much everyone agrees on (don’t close the barrier permanently) and the points people vary on (I think Ben looks better with fangs). It’s always really interesting, and I appreciate your positive outlook on the movie; you’re right that people are pretty hard in it.
"They could just put some resources and funding into the Isle." YOU. YOU GET IT! Oh my gosh, like that's literally Auradon land use for people's homes, shops, schools, and landfills. They just need to treat the place as well as they treat the rest of Auradon. Cities Skylines Auradon, in which you fix up the hecking Isle! Change policies and everything!
YES THANK YOU someone who doesnt think descendants 3 is a bad movie. I personally think this was the best one. The songs were the best. The plot was great. Great overall movie.
Just a heads up, the AKs who are asleep aren't lazy; they're spelled. As in, cursed the same basic way Aurora was in Sleeping Beauty. Kinda ironic, considering who cast the curse in the first place (Aurora's daughter, Audrey).
you can't compare HSM3 with this other movie since Descendants 3 is good or at least decent and besides it's not that the 2 are that "good" I would say that the 3 Descendants movies are at the same level in terms of quality, while HSM it was never good just overrated by nostalgic fans
@@elmafiosof2495 umm not rlyy comparing just saying both third movies are the least love by the fans and I don’t rlyy like hsm 3 that much but that doesn’t mean the franchise is overrated, you know what movies is overrated by nostalgia fans camp rock omg that franchise is terrible
@@Sub-v6b everyone has their point of view and is respected for example for my Descendants 3 it seems to me the best of the trilogy and I feel it is very undervalued since it closes this saga in a good way and I feel that it is a good tribute to Cameron Boyce (who in peace rest)
@@elmafiosof2495 I think the reason why people don’t like the third was that it kinda take the value of the second movie. Uma wanted to take the border out and the vk didn’t want that too happen. Same with the first movie kinda. Than all of sudden in the third movie they change their mind but I don’t have a problem with that but I seen people saying that’s reason. The third movie did a good job closing the franchise.I rlyy liked it just not my favorite.
@@Sub-v6b If so, then I think there are some people who do not understand that there is something called character development and history and that is what happened from 1 to this last movie and this third part does a good job in showing why Mal and the other people from Auradon decided to break the barrier once and for all and give the island a second chance, this is demonstrated in characters like Uma, Harry, Gil, Hades and a clear example Audrey who always complained about the villains and seemed that she would never become one, but in the end she became a villain, all this is implied in Mal's speech at the end of this third part. For that and for many other reasons I consider Descendants 3 as the best of the trilogy.
The actor who plays Jay is Willie in Julie and the Phantoms Hades' actor also was in Julie and the Phantoms and he played the villain the ghost who owns the ghost club I forgot his name Celia's actress was in Julie and the Phantoms as well she played Flynn Julie's bestfriend Dizzy's actress was in To All The Boys she played Lara Jean's young sister
There's all kinds of ships in this franchise, Harry basically has chemistry with everyone he interacts with (especially Uma, Jay and Mal, which makes sense since Dove and Thomas were dating at the time of filming), in D2 there's some chemistry with Evie and Ben as well as Evie and Mal (like come on, Space Between might as well have been a full on love duet), Mal and Uma have actually been kinda confirmed to have had a romantic history by I think China. And then of course there's Jay and Gil, who I do agree deserved to be a full on couple as Kenny wanted
So when I was little I remember watching House of Mouse, and I remember an episode where Mickey was trying to help Hades cause he had the hots for Maleficent 🤣 it’s a nice little nod
16:28 Not gonna lie I kinda Ship Evie with Harry, they are both second in Command to Mal and Uma. Also the Princess and the Pirate😏 that has happend before.
There are a few select things from this movie that I really loved - having uma and mal come together, making the villain an auradon person and not a villain kid... The rest of it tho, it's a no from me lmao.
A note I'd like to point out about Audrey is that, she only went to the museum to steal the crown out of jealousy, and was then corrupted by Maleficent's scepter, which called out to her and amplified her anger and jealousy. And that is why, when she was revived by Hades, she wanted to be told that it was a dream. She never meant to go that far. 25:44 But there is one major difference between Audrey and the villains on the Isle. Audrey felt remorse and apologized, something the other villains on the Isle never did.
my fave songs in this movie is nights fall my once upon a time queen of mean do what you gotta do and break this down cause queen of mean represents the ex friends who hurt me for the last time and my once upon a time represents me redeeming myself after i mess up
There's another sequel, animated though - "Descendants: Royal Wedding". And there's animated show called "Descendants: Wicked World" that takes place between movies 1 & 2.
You are really underestemating how much they are doing on the isle xD Fair enough, most of it happens in the books. But you can see the results in the background during that first music number. They aren't "only" taking 4 kids back to the main land, they are also reorganicing the isle themselfe. For example, Carlos opened a save plave where all the lost kids could stay, giving them a roof over their heads. Eve is managing an alley where people can grow in their creative interests like sewing. And Jay opened a place where the kids savely could performe stunts on bikes and stuff. They aren't just doing the bare minimum. The movie just missed the oportunity to show more.
I'm sorry you hating on Audrey pissed me off. She was in love with Ben. Ben got spelled and broke up with her and immediately started dating Mal. Like you can't pretend that that's ok just because you like Mal and Ben together. Audrey has every right to feel hurt and betrayed
I mean they were gonna break up anyway like toxic relationships much it’s not ok but 2 wrong never make a right and Aubrey did something wrong in return so
@@potatololita2072 you seen how bad her Grandma was we can only guess how much crap Audrey was put through by that woman let me quote "Your Mother could keep a prince in her sleep" I get people don't like Audrey but think about why she acts like this.
She didn’t loose her love, she loose her ambition to be a Queen
19:52 yeah that scene I was like OH THIS IS QUEER BAITING AT THIS POINT
IT IS😭
This was my favorite movie out of the trilogy, I couldn't understand the hate, totally different vibe to the others, and I love the odd chemistry between mal and hades.
Same! Hades really made the movie for me, I just wish they gave him more screen time.
I agree I guess people have their own opinions but I personally thought this was the best movie out of the 3
good to know someone else shares my idea that Jay and Harry where 100% in love
i could be wrong but when hades used the ember he was bringing back Audrey's soul because when Mal used it not only was it tempermental in her hands but it was just revived so it was faulty even with that so when Audrey was knocked out she was ecentially put under... which is ironic considering her lineage...
btw the actors hae said it was kind of a head cannon for the hook guy and jay to hae that chemistry similar to evie and mal dove said she felt evie and mals relationship was the only love she knew before ben she wasnt close with the others as much. they kinda killed it with the mulans daughter thing
Actually, it's possible that the story will be retconned someday to read like Isabela and Mariano from Encanto. Granny pushing Audrey into a relationship with a man she doesn't love, just to keep Granny happy. It seems to me that what hurt her the most about losing Ben was losing Granny's approval.
and the status.
Oh my gosh, I remember when I first saw this movie! 🤩 I waited with my family for it to air on Disney, I was so excited 💕✨
"Was that bippity boppity necessary?" is so funny to me
This might go to far for disney, cuz they barely manage gay couples, but imagine Jay, Harry and Gil as a polyamorous couple
YES
lol I would be so down for this
Yes. Me too!!!! They're gay your honor
Agree Descendants 3 was my favourite of all of them (also love the others) I also love Do what you gotta Do
I LOVE the reveal of who Mal's father was in this movie and Evie's cottage.
I would say the budget for hair and makeup increased with every movie though I was never a fan with the terrible CGI (Disney has money) the songs always slapped though ( I take it back only in the first 2 movies )that dance battle was top tier cringe
Gill and Jay deserved a happy and romantic ending together
27:59 And this is so beautiful. She is happy like child. Just coming from the this dark island to the light. She is so exicted, smiling.
I feel like the descendants movies are like the 3 acts of a book.
Act 1- the first movie: introducing the world and charicters, and the main plot set up.
Act 2-second movie: setting up an antagonist and internal conflict for the mc: Mal.
Act3-movie 3: wrapping up Charicter arcs and the overall conflict- also where the most action takes place (in my opinion)
Just take away the intro of the last two movies and it coudl be co sided one long movie with a lot of time jumps.
This is not the end of descendants lore we were guaranteed there will be more
it sounds like there could be more on the way.
Audrey's song is a bop tbh
everyone’s hair dye in the third film is just on point evies hair is STUNNING
ok listen i was rewatching the movies the other day because your videos made me in the mood, and i always planned on making a big descendants video addressing all that i love and not love about it lmao (which is basically harriyana hook's whole channel lmao) but here are a few things about this one i think about:
- i think the hate on the third was inevitable if you watched the movies live. the world of decendants is just too big and high stakes, like the premise alone, for it to have a satisfying ending. the concept of the isle is flawed in itself because they were like ok let's take criminals, and people affiliated with them, not give them a trial, and just trap them on an island together, with no rehabilitation, no resources no nothing. so like of course the kids shouldn't be there in the first place and they should be taken out if they want. so uma being like every kid needs to be able to leave is the only logical plan. but it's like the parents are still criminals that are at different levels of danger so again, their entire system was flawed and it's too complicated for a disney movie to dismantle, so they just had them free everyone and forget the fact that this is a prison technically. cuz when the series ended i was 19 and i was like the fuck? anyway that was my main thing
- then i was like ok lets forget that, my other annoyance that i kinda get but annoys me is that descandants became like the mal show. i know it mainly was her story in the first movie, but they had the other 3 have some storyline of their own. i understand that its a movie, there is only so many stories ou can tell, lemonade mouth had a similar problem, like i understand. but still, i was like mal was just going through the same thing every movie. then i realized wait a second, so did troy bolton, damn this is just a dcom lead problem. and i really like the core 4 as a group i just wished they could shine more as a team. there are details here and there, acting choices, background things that show it and i love that but it's still annoying.
It’s honestly a sin you’re not a queen of mean stan 💀
I really love watching reaction videos like this because you get to see the points pretty much everyone agrees on (don’t close the barrier permanently) and the points people vary on (I think Ben looks better with fangs). It’s always really interesting, and I appreciate your positive outlook on the movie; you’re right that people are pretty hard in it.
Queen of mean, What's my name and Evil like me are my fav songs and Love your commentaries Rebecca
Literally just finished part 2 💜
18:23 I love Mal and Uma's interaction here. They looked at each other and rolled eyes because they were annoyed by the situation
Descendants 3 remind me of hsm 3 not the most loved from the franchise but there’s people that would consider it the best and would argue that
you can't compare HSM3 with this other movie since Descendants 3 is good or at least decent and besides it's not that the 2 are that "good" I would say that the 3 Descendants movies are at the same level in terms of quality, while HSM it was never good just overrated by nostalgic fans
The actress who plays Dizzy. Also played in To All The Boys I've Loved Before. She played Kitty.
the way mal literally said VK means villain kids and she still didn't know what it meant right after 😭
Apparently Harry and Gil were meant to kiss in the second movie but it was cut
The actor who plays Jay is Willie in Julie and the Phantoms
Hades' actor also was in Julie and the Phantoms and he played the villain the ghost who owns the ghost club I forgot his name
Celia's actress was in Julie and the Phantoms as well she played Flynn Julie's bestfriend
Dizzy's actress was in To All The Boys she played Lara Jean's young sister
0:38-0:43 villain kids! she literally said it! "and so, 4 villain kids, the V. K's"
Ahh, ive been waiting for this, personally one of my favourites, Hades and Harry hook are a huge part in this though!
Then I’m sure you’ve seen the deleted clip of Harry and Gaston’s son kiss during the uma song I believe from the 2nd film
Ok but can we take a moment to appreciate them vocals at 9:47 ? Like that ✨ betrayed ✨ had miss Ariana Grande shooketh to the core
Good to be,bad is my favorite song out of all the movies-
Mal: I can’t just be queen of Auradon I have to be queen of the isle to
Ben’s mind: was the 95% I gave you not enough?!
Jay's love triangle : YEEESSSSSSSS 😂
A note I'd like to point out about Audrey is that, she only went to the museum to steal the crown out of jealousy, and was then corrupted by Maleficent's scepter, which called out to her and amplified her anger and jealousy. And that is why, when she was revived by Hades, she wanted to be told that it was a dream. She never meant to go that far.
25:44 But there is one major difference between Audrey and the villains on the Isle. Audrey felt remorse and apologized, something the other villains on the Isle never did.
6:59 Basically her friends didn't know that she was the one that said that they should close the barier, they thought she said to not do that.
Queen of mean is my daughter's favorite and do what you gotta do is mine. But all the music is so good.
There is a scene of Kenny Ortega, cleaning up the confettis and turning to the camera ""you didn't think that this was the end of the story, did you?"
Last year they came out with a new Descendants animated movie that takes place after the third one. It’s called Descendants: Royal Wedding.
my fave songs in this movie is nights fall my once upon a time queen of mean do what you gotta do and break this down cause queen of mean represents the ex friends who hurt me for the last time and my once upon a time represents me redeeming myself after i mess up
Audrey was the best part of this oop
In descendants two there was a deleted scene were harry and Gil kissed
Rewatching it with you made me realize it wasn’t as bad as I remember
This whole video was just you shipping everyone with jay 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
There's another sequel, animated though - "Descendants: Royal Wedding". And there's animated show called "Descendants: Wicked World" that takes place between movies 1 & 2.
You are really underestemating how much they are doing on the isle xD
Fair enough, most of it happens in the books.
24:47 😭😭😭 I'm weezing, but why did they make her beepity bopity say that everytime
The whole movie when Harry was flitering 😂lamo
I'm sorry you hating on Audrey pissed me off. She was in love with Ben. Ben got spelled and broke up with her and immediately started dating Mal. Like you can't pretend that that's ok just because you like Mal and Ben together. Audrey has every right to feel hurt and betrayed
I mean they were gonna break up anyway like toxic relationships much it’s not ok but 2 wrong never make a right and Aubrey did something wrong in return so
@@potatololita2072 plus they never apologized to her like come on three little words make a difference

More Uma and Mal. But what I like was Uma and Ben interactions. And Uma and her team being in the castle garden, and Uma being in the castle lying on this bed. Chillin in the castle.
BRO UR SO RIGHT I THOUGHT IT WAS SO GOOD BIT THEN I SAW EVERYONE SHITTING ON IT
the one thing I don't like about the third one is what they did with Evie, the rest I enjoy
What they did to her?

I’m JuSt Ken like they rhyme and everything lol
THANK YOU!! I've always thought Ben looked like Jared Padalecki (Dean, Gilmore Girls) when he was younger!
That's actually an animated movie for the next Descendants movie. It's supposed to be the royal wedding for Mal and Ben
I hate when people say that other people are "mean" because they don't like a movie. That's a very one-dimensional way of thinking that needs to stop.
