Can somebody please explain to me the likeable of Switzerlands song this year? It might be me being bias of a Swedish context, where we are tired of stone trowing left extremist and tired of stone trowing second generation immigrants. Last thing we need is someone gloriefying it in a song.

My favourite studio cuts of FYROM, Belgium, Greece and Armenia didn't make it through but I see why after all their live performances. SO HAPPY FOR ALBANIA - No.1 since December

Very Happy for: Lithuania and Albania (they were in my finalists)
Very Sad for: Switzerland, Greece and Belgium
totally agree on that: staging was THE problem to Belgium and Greece. but Switzerland? they were GREAT!
I'm really sad about Switzerland. I was a big fan of the song anyway but Coco performed amazingly tonight as an entire package it just worked! I was also really happy that the crowd got involved when she asked people to put their hands up if they had ever been hurt, it was a great moment. ROBBED!
I don't get why Switzerland does not qualify - last year they had a strong entry too. Coco is just amazing.

Tonny Playing disagree. Belgium and greece couldve done so much more with the staging. The songs were too epic for that simple staging. Azerbaijan didn't have a authentical song and didn't really impact anyone. And yea, belarus is my guilty pleasure but it is no quality.

I actually think they might've had the votes, and the Jury might've had something to do with it. I have a weird feeling they were probably 11th or 12th at least. I really do.

Marcel Schicken flawless? No, she was extremely nervous and it was visible, the way she whispered instead of singing was just a no.
She did a great job you can tell she was nervous but hopefully her vocals will shine even more on the finals 🤗
The performance of the song was way better than the studio version, quite captivating indeed.
I’m so shocked that Ireland qualified and Belgium and Azerbaijan didn’t! Very pleased about Albania and Lithuania qualifying ❤️❤️

Thank you all for Albania. I'm so happy, I didn't believed that we're going through the final. I was speechless. For Albania a country that has not many fans and relationships with other countries, that's why we always in 16th and 17th place when we qualify. That was Justice.

The cosmos is a cold place. The staging, the music and the performance of the Bulgarian song portray that cosmic setting beautifully. 🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬
I am the saddest about Switzerland not going through. Such a shame. They gave of one of the best energies of the evening. The crowd were loving it, we were loving it. Again such a shame!!
Well, unfortunately, there was not enough love for Switzerland, I liked them too, but coudn`t vote in this semi final.
I know. I hope they were 11th or something. Cause then you can just blame bad luck. Ending up in this semi was the kiss of death for a lot of good songs. :(
She deserved to qualify - she worked so hard - they both did. I am also sad for them.

This was the best semi-final in Eurovision history. I really think that everyone brought their best and they have my respect. I am really in shock that Switzerland, Croatia, F.Y.R. Macedonia and Belarus didn't make the final, but at the same time I am extremely happy for Albania and especially Lithuania, she made tear up a little. And I didn't expect Ireland to go through, but in the end it is deserved. Good luck in the Grand Final!

I think I'm the only person who is completely happy with that result, so proud of Finland and of Saara for making it and surprised but so happy about Ireland qualifying!! Cyprus, Israel and Lithuania were others I was pleased to see qualify, and I think this is such a strong top ten.

Croatia, Belgium and Switzerland should have qualified! But, the exposure is what matters most at the end. Seems like Cyprus will be hosting 2019... she is cool and lovely

I think she said that her aim was to bring more simplicity (read class possibly) to Eurovision. Also it’s out of her song and country’s character to stage a flashy show. Belgians like simplicity and substance, like their beer and chocolate, the song is moving and beautiful. And I absolutely loved how she shyly put her hand on her face at the end. Well, I am trying not to be sour looser, but she is the child of grungy 90’s and I prefer that so much more to designer/stage performer variety show artistes :(:(
I thought she was great. But I don't think Bond songs are so popular. Think about Juri Pootsman Estonia (2016) which came last in its semi-final - a great song I thought. I expect she also lost votes to Lithuania. A cool song against a warm song coming later.....

Loïc Nottet, Laura Tesoro and Roberto Bellarosa all had crazy/freaky staging, which pushed them high above expectations. The only simplistic one was Blanche.
Nutzername92a, I think he meant that it's in Belgium's character to go overboard with their staging as far as bringing in props and whatnot is concerned, especially when conceptualizing a staging that fits a song. I don't think they haven't gone camp yet these past few years, which is what they should be avoiding at all costs.
Personally, I think the delegation may have missed the mark on the staging and no doubt the jury vote reflected that same sentiment.
Switzerland is so underrated!!!
Can't believe that Belgium and Greece didn't qualify! Too bad that all the good songs were in the 1st semi-final!

Belarus is breaking my heart!!! But I'm soooo excited for Albania and Ireland. The last actually was a shocking surprise - but the staging was incredibly lovely and atmospheric, so it was deserving

This year made me shocked a lot, no Armenia, no Greece, no Belgium, no Azerbaijan, no Belgium, no Armenia - trading with some spots.
So sad about Alexeev and Sennek. They should be in final! They have one of best songs!

I am really sad about Switzerland. This was just devastating. But, on the other hand, really happy for Finland and Ireland, which I was worried that wouldn't get through. It was a tough semi, guys. They all should be super proud!

We all knew what we were getting into: it really was a bloodbath! There was no bad song, I enjoyed the show a lot! I knew I'd be happy for the qualifiers and sad for whoever wouldn't make it. Anyhow, so happy for Eugent. Thank you, man! 🇦🇱

Really sad or Belgium. I think in terms of song it is definitely one of the best written ones. It was definitely in my top2 together with Bulgaria.
Speaking of Bulgaria - I am not sure what the guy with the glasses was on - they stood out in my view. While most of the other "favourites" were going for explosives, bursting red hot fireworks and lightening Bulgaria explored completely other niche of mysticism, artful darkness and some alien/otherworldly vibes. And that is why it was quite memorable and actually qualified. Not everything needs to be all bright and colourful. I personally really appreciated the dark, even slightly gothy feel of the whole performance.
Kinda sad for Switzerland and Belgium, but I think everyone who got through deresved it

Dont read into the betting odds until the second semi final has been completed. Look how much it changed just on the semi final 1 performances. Some of these songs in semi final 2 if they slay the vocals and staging may reclaim some of their old betting positions. I do see norway dropping though. I just cannot see the jury votes being that high considering how mediocre the song is. His stage presence is amazing and is enough to get him through to the final.

After hearing Ireland, I was sure they are in. I had a hard time to make a top 10, I had a top 9 till the recaps. Albania was there for me too. But Lithuania surprised me and was expecting Switzerland instead. 9/10 - you overestimate sg. of East-Europe - it does not exist :) sorry guys

I was also very happy for Albania. I liked it, but didn't even expect that it's going to qualify. What a pleasant surprise! seems like the quality of the competition is slowly rising.
My favorites tonight were Bulgaria and Albania, and Israel (though I don't think it's a first place) and ... Austria. I am sorry for Armenia and Switzerland, I wouldn't add them to my playlist, but they deserved to qualify. Belarus was awful: outdated music, bad acting, I don't see anything good here at all. I am glad that I won't have to see it one more time in the final. Never liked Belgium's song, it was pretty boring, only couple seconds of chorus were fine.
I expected much more from this semi-final...If second semi is gonna be like this - Portugal will win again.

I think the same way you do. Armenia had a great and powerful song in the voice of a great singer.
Cyprus and Israel were CLEARLY 1st and 2nd. A close race. Just watch the number of reproductions on the official channel for each video: a huge HUGE gap between them and all the others.
after all performances rehearsal my top10 qualifiers was : bulgaria , swiss, belgium, lithuania , israel, ireland,estonia,austria, cyprus,and czech republic. It's sad for swiss and belgium that they did not qualified :(
I'm really happy for Albania and Lithuania! Both had a very warm reaction at the arena. I would switch Austria and Bulgaria for Greece and Croatia... And I would say that Belgium had the worst staging of the night, although I really like the song :/

I've been banging on all season as how Albania, Lithuania and Ireland were quality songs and they all qualified.......hurrah!!
If fans are anything to go by, the reception in the arena gives Israel, Estonia and Cyprus a massive chance...never seen a "pop" crowd burst into applause midway through a song for elina and the crowd singing Israel and Cyprus songs before they even came on...fantastic

In love with Lithuania and Ireland shows, I was blow away with that. Lithuania made my cry, was magic happened on the stage and Ireland And that stage, voice, snow in the May.... My favorites for shore :)

I picked 9 out of the 10 qualifiers. The surprising entry for me was albania. I honestly thought Greece would get through. But It was great to see Ireland go to the final. Belgiums song was good but she always lacked something in the live version. Cyprus was amazing though. She was slaying those dance moves.
If you ask me, I would've prefered Croatia over Cyprus and Switzerland over Austria. Then again, Finnland and Bulgaria made it through which made me really happy

I'm just so happy~!!! I've never been so...speechless over a Semi Final cause usually my faves get left behind but this time around, my faves advanced while my least faves were left behind. I'm still in a bit of shock tbh. However, I'm so sad that Switzerland and Belarus were left behind, they were my only two faves who got left behind but maybe next year they'll have better luck~

Suprised that Greece (could have been better performed, but vocally it was ok) and Azerbaidschan did not pass to the Final.
The performance of Greece should have been set up more intimate with a Background Choir. Just the singer waving in her white dress was not very convincing for the song.
Happy about Israel and Austria, as they are one of my biggest Favorites.
Caesar is one of the best Vocalists this year. Great Performance.
And Ireland was really nice - a surprise to me. Did not had it on my mind.

Switzerland my love, my heart, I'm so sad that they didnt make it. I still think its a wonderful song with an amazing message. I'll still be listening to Stones long after ESC is over though and I feel blessed that ESC showed me this amazing song
To be honest, I really hate the contest when I see Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium and Greece not qualifying. And when I remember 2. Semi-Final, I just wanna cry that most of them do not even deserve the Final and these 4 countries obviously do!

Heartbroken for Greece and Belarus. Greece had one of the best songs in my opinion, but the performance wasn't particularly strong - so I am not too surprised. Personally, I didn't like Cyprus but can see why people like it on the other hand! Same for Finland, I don't like the song at all, but she had a very strong presence on stage.
