The F11 thing looks so cool! Imagine if this game could autostart in that mode when you log in, so it just puts your favorite gadgets on the desktop to play with!
That just became a thing with version 0.1.6! You can add gadgets to your "Launcher" and that is a extra app that runs in background when the game is not running, enabling you to add your gadgets to the desktop, just like widgets on android/Sidebar from Windows Vista/7
If you liked this, you should try fancade. It's a bit like scratch with the visual coding, but it's got it's own physics engine and you can easily make your own assets. There's a ton you can do, and I'd love to see what you come up with
if u want, u can try logisim-evolution, it's a electronic "game" for exemple i create a memory register 8bit and i think the possibilities are greater :) i like ur poly brigde and scrap mechanic video (and sorry i'm french and my anglish is bad lmao)
Easy to pick up, and easy to use. Doesn’t feel as daunting I guess as normal engineering software. I think commercial games will always have big limits because of how they make money. May I also suggest p5, it’s an easy graphical intro to code, and it all runs in the browser.
This game seems super cool honestly! And I love your result, I could absolutely see that being some gimmicky KSP tie in merchandise. Like a limited edition reward for some supporters when KSP2 is released or something
I just had a thought, Retro Gadgets has similar screen manipulation tools to Plasma (unlikely a coincidence as Plasma and Retro Gadgets have a few of the same developers). This means that in theory, you could make your orbiter game in Plasma too.
6:01 > i++ > i += i > i = i + 1 You have no idea how much I love this moment 😂 I'm learning another language but I kept using i++ because I'm too used to C++ 🤣
Great video! This is game is very interesting, but I feel my brain would default to java far too often. I assume you had a similar issue when i++ became i = i + 1 lol
Well this is really super cool :D I wonder if you could transfer the code to work in IRL stuff, as I would really love to build these little gadgects in real life
this game looks awesome and u did amazing job. also few ideas to improve visuals and mechanic of your game make stars, make planet blue and moon grey or slightly yellow, make fire from engine of rocket that will change from speed. u can make few levels, with some asteroids that flying around and aliens that pulling spaceship
It's really particular but this game looks like an awesome mix between a zachtronics game and pico-8. It's got some really cool stuff in there that I haven't seen too many devs do.
me having no lua expeirienc using the moving light as reference (Pretty much copy and pasting) Hitting my head against the lua wall trying to get the light to do and finally getting it to do is so satisfying
Very interesting. I've considered trying to make something like this before, but then I remember I'm lazy... So the question is: how long before someone implements a rudimentary version of this game inside this game like they've done with Minecraft?
Hey guys, if you want to check out the game please use my link!: bit.ly/RetroGadgets_ReidCaptain
It’s way more complicated and expensive irl though
Please make another vid, great game!
The question is; Can it run DOOM?
Probably lol
Can you play Bad apple on them?
@@zhangjeff238 Most likely
Considering it's basically a more powerful, customizable PICO-8, which has actually had DOOM clones made on it, yes.
@@zhangjeff238 sure thing
I played the demo. The problem is I have no creativity.
Same, but i haven't played it
Try to watch and subscribe to people who make interesting stuff, it’s good for inspiration!
I have the same in all sandbox games
Skill issue, ig you have no potential 😞
lol creativity is the key to everything. But when you can’t come up with any ideas, just steal someone else’s!
I love the devolution from i++ to i = i + 1 at 6:03. Painfully relatable 😅
Edit: Of course the first full thing you make is KSP. Lol.
I miss java where I could just i++ lol
i wish they used luau instead since it has that
@チムール they prefixed that with "i wish"

I'd have to agree, even their tone and way they talk is pretty similar
Someone is gonna make a whole windows 10 pc using this i can feel it.

are you going to be uploading your creation to the workshop? It'd be pretty neat to tinker about with it
Yes! For once I am uploading what I made to the workshop. It is called "Orbiter 2".
A comment 3 hours before the video has been published. Perfectly logical… Edit: thanks for destroying my last functional brain cell UA-cam!

OH MY GOD IT'S LITERALLY WINDOWS VISTA GADGETS
I LOVE THIS
has anyone ever told you how absolutely genius you are
Wait someone will create Retro Gadgets within Retro Gadgets
I would love to see more of this game
I respect your creativity so much
I really hope this game will have analog circuitry... I am so excited for all the amazing nerds creating awesome analog synthesizers.
Want to see more videos about this game from you!Its so cool.
Makes me wanna try making a game boy

I would love to see you play more of it
Bro learned code in like 5 min and I’m here after 6 months still learning💀
That is exceedingly impressive for a 1st major creation…
I love these kinds of games and have always planned on making one myself. 👍
You need to make more videos on this
I'd not be surprised if somebody managed to build a smartphone in this sandbox simulator.
Or a laptop
(It even can run doom and play bad apple!)
10:41 that's awesome actually

It would be a lot easier than in minecraft
You should put chips on the back
More of this please
This looks really interesting! Kind of like a hardware version of Pico-8.
soon someone will build retro gadgets in retro gadgets
I saw this on Reddit before it was released!
Sure do hope they add support for other programming languages, I don't know much about Lua but I don't like the no curly brackets... ;P
math nerds can probably render fractals
Some people might be getting some crazy nostalgia
Looks really cool. More advanced than PICO-8 and great for tinkerers.
he made moon lander on a game boy color i love it :3
yes. a pretty simple game that can simulate a spaceship landing on a moon.
Yes, i need to learn how to use freaking Lua code so i can actully play this game
