@@stare6711 also in the same house was a hand written eye witness journal of the French Revolution written in English, quill pen on parchment. My guess was it had to be an ancestor of the family of the abandoned house. I was going to go back and have another look around since my friends made such a big ado over those two items and some other things I brought back but two weeks later the place was gone. Bulldozers came in and hauled it all away. They were putting in new housing. The house was an old farm there were still saddles and wagons and carriages in the barn...all gone. I rather save something than let it get bulldozed into a trash heap and hauled away or left to rot.

    1923 One Dollar Silver Certificate
The 1923 series is the most common of the large bills. 1923 was the last year that large bills were printed. They aren't very valuable because they are so common. Right now there are tens of thousands of 1923 one dollar silver certificates in existence.
Most of these bills are worth around around $53 in very fine condition. Uncirculated bills with a grade of MS 63 can sell for around $165. The Woods and Tate signature combination is more valuable.
They have older ones worth $

@@stare6711 it will probably get emptied out by contractors employed by the council to go in and clear the place out so the house can go on the market. They will have a field day when they realise the value of some of the stuff in there.
I'm sure they find tons of valuable items in the places they have to clear out after people have passed away with no will or surviving relatives.
My guess is they will be legally allowed to keep anything of value and throw out the rest as there is no one else to claim it. Interesting to see the 1745 Rider's British Merlin book, an early almanac. Dean Swift is an alternative name for Jonathan Swift, author of Gulliver's Travels, who died in that year.
