Taunting and trash talking is part of the game. No problem with what she did whatsoever. Bird told people were he was going to light them up it’s the opponents job to stop them.
Did Joe Burrow pursue a player when he did this. She looked foolish following the player. If everyone thinks it's cool to be a sore winner then I just have to face it.
Why are all you straight lying about this? It’s when she did it, and how. You don’t chase down ppl after a game and follow them for like 30 seconds. Joe Burrow didn’t chase down a defender to wave his hands in his face after a game
Here is why people are upset with it and where it stands different from the other taunts. Angel was doing those taunts during the entire time her teammates were taking free throws at the end. She literally turned away from the basketball hoop to face CC and do that to her. Then at the end of the game instead of celebrating, she stalked CC around the court trying to do that in her face. All those other taunts including CC's were not players stalking other players and getting in their face trying to do it. What can you expect from a player who was caught flipping off others before a game and is so full of herself she has to bring and wear a crown to her player intro.
The difference is Caitlin did it during the game as a celebration to her own teammates. Angel did it after the game as a taunt towards an opponent. It also doesn't help that Angel then tried to defend it and make it about race and kept trying to instigate things after the game was over. It just isn't a good look. I'm fine with trash talk, but only do it during the game or in the lead up to the game, otherwise it's just really poor sportsmanship.
It is about race. It’s okay for Caitlin to talk trash because “how she did it” but it’s not okay for Angel to talk trash because “ how she did it”….. ain’t no rules in talking trash. Tom Brady got In people face all the time talking sh*t. He damn near chased Honeybadger to locker room in the Super Bowl. Oh well. It is what it is
Taunting is acceptable or not, since it is mean-spirited in general. So, you should be against ALL taunting because it could get out of hand. But you are not. So it is about race. You would make up any rule about taunting to defend Caitlin's behavior as an exception to something that has no rule. No rule says taunting an opponent should be done away from the opponent's view, and the one doing the taunting should not be following the opponent; that is an exception you guys created----you guys are hurt because Reese dared to dish what Clark did earlier. Why is that? The fact that you are not aware of your racial bias is just part of your upbringing.
Caitlin did it during a game while competing. Angel did it after the game and followed Caitlin around to taunt her. It’s not the same. Rich always sides with the predictable narrative. Every time IOWA posed a threat, the officials took over and put it to a stop. Yes, LSU shot the lights out but they had a whole lot of help from the officiating to get there. Why the LSU coach wasn't tossed is beyond me.
So why not complain when LSu had to sit 3 players for the entire second and part of the first? Iowa started losing more when LSUs bench came in.. and they let Monica slide with 2 offensive fouls.
Only issue I have is that while yes Caitlin did it first, she didn't go up to the person's face and do it. Think going upto someone's face to do it is unsportsmanlike - especially as you've just won the game and title.
Burrow taunted the entire Texas Longhorn stadium at the end of the game when he play at LSU in 2019. THE ENTIRE STADIUM!!!! Let that sink in......nobody said a word, but instead said he had swag. And ESPN did 5 minute video tribute of Clark taunting and talking trash during the entire tournament. Its apart of the game. Stop being selective with your outrage.
Who was critical of Reese being too hood and too ghetto??? First time hearing this, she holds Twitter responsible for these comments? You gonna play the race card, you best have receipts in my opinion
It makes me so mad that the media says Caitlyn did the same thing. She didn't do anything right in someone's face. She didn't name call. She didn't follow someone around the court repeatedly rubbing their face in it. And she didn't rub in the loss of a game. OBVIOUSLY NOT THE SAME THING!!!!!
You're splitting hairs. By "taunting" standards what both of them did is fairly tame, but there's a fairly obvious reason why Reese is getting a lot of criticism but Clark did not.
That and the fact that LSU didn't bother shaking hands ( oh yeah, Mulkey, the coaches, ball persons etc. being exceptions ). You want to be treated as more than trash, act like you are.
@Lincoln MacEachern And Caitlin disrespected the guard from South Carolina and trashed talked the players from Louisville. Her track record of taunting preceded her which led to Ms. Angel Reese making sure you see where taunting gets you. If Caitlin won with class throughout the season it would have NEVER happened! Don't be mad, sir get Glad!
First and foremost, congratulations to LSU, great game. Finishing a season with only 2 loses and the National Championship, outstanding. As an Iowa fan I have no issues with the Angel Reese or her taunting, if that’s what you want to call it. My issue would be what was said in the post press conferences leading up to this game and the post press conference after this game. If Angel is correct in her assessment that she’s been labeled in the media as to ghetto, to hood, and that’s apart for her actions, then that should be brought to the forefront and those people should be held accountable. The same should be done with Dawn Staley and her post game comments, if there’s truth to what Dawn has claimed then I believe those making these statements need to be held accountable. But to this point, there’s only been accusations with no real truth and if that’s the case, we’re only creating a false narrative which takes away from the sport of women’s college basketball.
Yup. We’re nonsensical proxy race war until the end of time. We’re obsessed with racial tension more than we’re obsessed with the second amendment and that’s really saying something.
So let me ask this then. If a ten year old chases down another ten year old and blatantly taunts him/her right to their face after winning a game are you okay with that? If I say that I'm NOT okay with that am I discriminating due to age?
My law school professor would say your argument is not a winning one---- no rule says taunting an opponent should be done away from the opponent's view, and the one doing the taunting should not be following the opponent; that is an exception you guys created----you guys are hurt because Reese dared to dish what Clark did earlier.
I don't mind that it happened. It's just funny that Reese got beef with Clark from what Clark did with SC. Like, how are you getting mad at someone else's beef that you're not even part of? Just a weird to see that.. Congrats to LSU for winning and congrats to Clark for breaking all of those NCAA records. March Madness has been crazy this year.
@Mantingster @John Brown the Prophet @slymcfly123 @Jack Lane We're all supposed to believe this had something to do with the conference (S.E.C.) sisterhood (U.S.C.,L.S.U.,etc.). But if that's really the case, then what would have resulted if a (theoretically, at least) mostly white team from Vanderbilt U. had been the target of the taunting from Clark before the final with L.S.U.? Would the L.S.U. player have still responded to it in the same way? Why are those like me thinking it would have transpired a little differently?
Yes she would have responded the same way. The media praised Caitlin for talking trash but talked bad about Angel. There are no rules in talking trash. If Caitlin was up in the game or won she would have talked trash. It’s just hard to talk when you’re down. That’s just how it’s goes. Remember it and come back ready next time.
After the player you beat was doing that same gesture through the tournament, she deserves it at the end too. If you can dish it, you better be able to take it

I really don’t care to be honest, but Joey B and Clark did their taunting with and toward their own teammates. Clark even said so before the game the “you can’t see me” she does with her own coach. Doing anything right in the face of another player in normal sports is a little much. MMA I can see more because it’s all a show to sell PPV tickets and people beating the crap out of eachother, these sports aren’t contact it’s really not warranted
Caitlin did it for a quick 3 seconds while passing by her opponent. This Lsu player chased her down and prolong the taunt. Had the roles been reversed, and Caitlin was the one doing the aggressive taunting, I guarantee you the lsu player would've taken a swung at her.
I don't think Joe chased a player around the field for 30 seconds. Caitlyn did it for 2 seconds. It was unnecessary. Or do it but don't chase a player around the court.
Thank you for covering the championship and your thorough comments about what happened during the game, including the poor officiating. It was an absolutely exciting game!!❤
Caitlyn Clark did it for one second..... Reese started at the foul line and continued throughout the rest of the game even tracking Clark down. So ghetto.
As a Maryland fan watching angel reese do what she did was absolutely awesome, we here in Maryland are competitive and we get aggressive when it comes to sports.
What do you mean? So it’s okay to talk trash as long as you’re 6 feet away? It don’t work like that. If you talk trash then you have to be ready to receive it back in any way. Ain’t no rules in talking trash it is what it is
Honesty and fairness? Look up the Joe Burrow incident and then compare that to the Angel Reese incident. Then please analyze and determine for yourself if Rich Eisen is being honest. Hint: He's not. Nor is he, like so many others, being honest when comparing Angel Reese to Caitlin Clark.
The fact that Caitlin is the best player of the year and she is the reason many started to watch women basketball says it all ❤ Caitlin is at another level. Others can do or say whatever they want.😂 She is the champ breaking all kind of records. The team didn't win the game but she already won🎉

Context ignored here, isn't it.....I mean, don't think Clark should be totally absolved, I don't approve of taunting in any situation as its poor sportsmanship and if she doesn't do those things in earlier games maybe this wouldn't have happened. But c'mon, in the first place, during the louisville game Van lith was jawing at Clark and that precipitated Clark saying something to her in response and then making a very quick gesture at the end of the game, but she didn't march up to her and do it in her face. Well, Reece's gesture was not only in Clark's face but was prolonged as she proceeded to follow her around and rub it in....and Clark had said or done nothing at that point or to her earlier in the game, that we know of, to warrant that. These situations were NOT analogous....but they are treated as if they are.
Ever hear of Larry Bird, Michael Jordan?? Huge trash talkers. This stuff is for our entertainment, so dont forget athletes are just entertaining us with their skills. Trash talking is good, you dont have to make it into a racial thing. Best tourney ever. I love watch Reese and Clark. Both are good for the game.
My god. The media keeps pushing these completely BS narratives. Stop saying these two things were the same. Clark did it for like 2 seconds walking back to her bench. Reese literally made the entire end of the championship game about it, she kept following Clark around, she kept talking about it in the press conference, her and the other LSU players were doing it in the post game ceremony, it’s like they cared more about that than actually winning the championship. I’ve got no issues with trash talk etc, but what Reese did was ridiculously over the top, then to continue it in post game press conference, and by her own admission turn it into some Im doing this for all the hood girls thing just makes my point.
This game was the absolute best NCAA Game I've ever seen. These ladies are outstanding competitors. They were absolute bruisers in the paint, in my opinion more flagrant fouls were ignored while barely noticeable fouls were called. I was also confused by the review of uncalled fouls outcome.
Well said 👍👍👍👍👍
The difference is Caitlin did it during the game as a celebration to her own teammates.
Race card always comes up with any "situation"
It's crazy the tribalism that this spawned. But I'm used to it at this point.
Oh well. It is what it is
Angel taunt was during the game though WTF are you talking about??
Taunting is acceptable or not, since it is mean-spirited in general. So, you should be against ALL taunting because it could get out of hand. But you are not. So it is about race. You would make up any rule about taunting to defend Caitlin's behavior as an exception to something that has no rule. No rule says taunting an opponent should be done away from the opponent's view, and the one doing the taunting should not be following the opponent; that is an exception you guys created----you guys are hurt because Reese dared to dish what Clark did earlier. Why is that? The fact that you are not aware of your racial bias is just part of your upbringing.
Caitlin did it during a game while
competing. Angel did it after the game and followed Caitlin around to taunt her. It’s not the same. Rich always sides with the predictable narrative. Also Angel then said that she played well for people that look like her. How does that not have a racial undertone?
This is correct. But the popular narrative to run with is racism

Would the L.S.U. player have still responded to it in the same way? Why are those like me thinking it would have transpired a little differently?

Taunting someone in her face is not right. It’s not what she did It’s how she did it. And you know that you sell out
Aaron Donald did too!
Not in Joe Burrows face.
@@KCDozer steph curry did it to literally the entire boston team/arena......
Did Donald follow a player or players around the field doing it multiple times?
@@bdubs532 No he did worst. Took his shoulder pads off and went over to the opponents sidelines after the game! SO…,.,
@@Keith-cl3th imo key word is "AFTER" the game, dude earned it, wasn't it a kneel down to end the game? I'm fine with taunting. Not fine with following around one opponent and taunting the same thing over and over...
NO, it's not right to say something is okay for some players to do and not okay for others!!
It's not cool nor great for any college player (or professional for that matter) to do ANY type of taunting. It's absolutely unexceptable!! Sorry, no one who taunts in any way is in any way cool. This as been allowed to happen a little at a time and now it's out of control. What happen to teams sports teaching teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal improvement? Taunting is wrong, as the creation of pentalties for doing in most pro sports can attest.
lol get out of here nerd, taunting is apart of the game. if you played at any high level you would know this
They enforce the taunting penalty wrongly in a lot of sports but taunting is a rude act in general.
Name a game from any sport in recent memory (that wasn't a blowout) that didn't enrage an entire group of people afterward because of the officiating.
Georgia vs. TCU.
Edit. I misread the parentheses.
