This is accurate to at least one of my job interviews in the Midwest. Had some beers with the GM and wound up with a job.

I think a lot of people get hired out of the bar in Wisconsin. Some sober guy going around looking for a job just won't fit in with the other employee's. Make friends with the boss in a bar and you're in.

My first shot of Tequilla was in an interview in MI with an IT company. It was my Pres/CEO's drink of choice. My first Christmas there, we celebrated the company holiday party with Eggnog made with Rum and Tequilla. That's a day I'll never quite remember again!

I called in “blind” on the first day of fishing season. The boss asked WTF I meant and I told him I couldn’t see myself coming to work that day. He laughed, told me to go f@ck myself, and that he’d see me out on the fishing grounds!

Reminds me of the time we went fishing, had car trouble, and I called in 'sick' from 100 miles away. When I got back, the boss actually thanked me for letting him know that I wouldn't be in. 😅

I once called out on a Sunday and let my boss know I was too drunk to bother getting up and going to work the next day. Turned out he was too. I miss that place.

I went to school in Stevens Point Wisconsin and the professors scheduled exams around deer and duck opener 😂
The carrythrough of the midwest oddity of "I know how much this thing is worth and I won't accept you overpaying for it" to a job interview is genius, and also a little sad.
It left me confused, but slightly enlightened.
Parking the Winnebago in the parking lot, that's not a good idea, they'll expect you to be on time for work every day for cryin out loud!

A well prepared fellow knows one is none and 2 is one. He was obviously well prepared.

I grew up in Michigan and took it for granted until I moved to Texas. In Michigan, getting called in for an interview basically means you already got the job. They want to hire you and be done with the ordeal. But in San Antonio Texas, I couldn't BELIEVE how much scrutiny they give applicants, even for the trashiest jobs! San Antonio is like "well, mopping floors isn't for the faint of hearted, we prefer 5 years of experience, must have 2021 or newer vehicle to ensure you reliably get to the job, you must have a 760+ credit score, you must not have any kids, and you must kiss my shoes every Tuesday morning before you clock in, and you'll have to be on-call for shoe kissing during Christmas and Labor Day." One year of groveling around down there was all I could take. Now I'm back up north thankfully. Never could figure out the weird employment vibe down there. I even knew several people who got fired for no reason. Like it just happens randomly in Texas. I prefer the businesses I apply at to be a little bit desperate for workers so I know I'm safe.

Not gonna say it’s true, but I’m not gonna say it’s untrue.
So trees down all over today. I go into the local bar to buy a gift certificate to thank the fire chief who mowed our church lawn while our maintenance guy was out on medical leave. The regulars sitting their told me May is traditionally the worst month for tornadoes. I thought to myself, a panel of regulars in a Wisconsin bar should be the go to panel during sporting events on TV. Forget Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriquez, etc. "Let's go now to our panel of experts at such and such bar" and get the low down. And of course I thought, this is a Charlie Berens type of thing to do!
My brother had a job interview and half though the boss open his desk draw and in was full of grass and ask if he wanted to smoke one. He got the job but didn't smoke one.

My family are Midwesterners but my parents were stationed in the West Coast. My Dad spent the rest of his life there. Most of my family are still in the Midwest but some have spreaded out all over this great Nation! But the Midwest is always in our hearts! 😻👍

I moved out of Wisconsin when I was 12. I have missed a few Wisconsin experiences, this being one. I'm excited to see how it plays out...
The factory ive worked at for the past 7 years. A bunch of us workers deer hunt so on opening day the place runs with only a handful of ppl. Those poor s.o.b.s lol. First day of trout season they expect me to call in. Nope sorry the trout aint gonna wait
