Even if Walter has his funny/quirky moments regarding his insanity it's nice that they show another side to his character. And hats of to John Noble for being able to play such a complicated role, not that I had any doubts ;)

He was almost performing a transorbital lobotomy on HIMSELF. Walter Bishop is one of the most interesting characters in sci-fi history.
