I am not a troll. I listen to the rabbi seriously, but I have to take exception to a big point that he made. His explanation of what I will call the sin of Adam and Eve doesn't hold water. Why would God need to send them to the lowest level of creation if everything God created was very good? If they had not committed a sin, then God would seem to be very unjust in punishing them when they were innocent. And, if things were as the Rabbi says, did Adam and Eve accomplish the task God had given them ? -- it seems not so.

Healthy pride is in God and then self.. healthy confidence in knowing who we are to God. The unhealthy pride is actually the defiance towards God with the attitude of I don't need you God. Knowing who self is in God is humbled under God. That we are fearfully and wonderfully made and put together within the mother's womb. Each made as an individual with value and worth. So the worth isn't actually self worth or selfishness.. but I love me because God loves me first.

The key to the Rebbe's philosophy is in a book called Tanya.This was written at the end of thex18th Century by the Rebbe's predecessor and the originator of the Chabad school, Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi. An English translation with very helpful elucidation and notes has been published. The translator is Rabbi Chaim Miller. This is the only one you should get. The original Hebrew English translation contains a lot of very helpful annotations but it is bafflingly dense. Even with Rabbi Miller's very helpful elucidation and notes it is such a profound work it is best studied at length and ideally with a teacher. It is certainly worth the effort. It is pitched at Jews but 90% of the teachings are universal.
For a Rabbi that seems to love the counterintuitive, I am surprised he says Jews should have pride. Pride leads to a fall. He should preach humility instead. That's the counterintuitive.
humility was always a key concept in Chabad. But there is nothing wrong with being proud of your people, we have been through so much, and survived Endurance is something to be proud of. Jewish Pride is not arrogance or superiority, there is a big difference.
In the Jewish world view you dont need to be a Jew to be virtuous or to go to heaven. So its not, like, everyone has to be a Jew. Everyone should do good deeds and love their neighbour.
@@vvanderer well we already tried with Christianity, communism and more. I feel like if we do not build the basis to be virtuous it isn't going to happen.
@@StGeorgedragonhunter The Hebrew scriptures teach us all we need to be redeemed, as Jew or as Gentile. It is clear in scriptures the Jews are to be a light to the nations and this means the nations. the non jews, have be there to receive the light. It doesn't mean everyone has to be a Jew. There are plenty of places in the world that even now know nothing of the God of Abraham, the revelation at Sinai.WHen knowledge of the existence of God and His teachings is worldwide we will all be closer to the true redemption.
