if you pull the key out half way out and you can use that to pop the cover instead of a screwdriver.

Thanks for the video. I do have a question: My VW dealership told me not to keep my backup fob in the car, but my concern is that if anything goes wrong with the fob you're using, you could be stranded somewhere. I understand that having both fobs in the car might cause the system to get confused or something but would it work to wrap the backup in tinfoil and put it in a container in the glove compartment or maybe the trunk? Thanks

yeah - I believe tinfoil around the key fob should work. They also make reusable pouches for key fobs that block the signal so you can do exactly what you're trying to. Google "key fob pouch" and you should get some options
