I LOVED this interview!!! Thank you both!!! I shared it with Dr. Melissa Mitchell, WOFI's new Secondary Teachers' Community, and all my Social Media venues. It was great!

Thank you for this very interesting podcast. Although I am from South Africa, I listened from Hannover, Germany while visiting here. I think it so crucial for Germany - and in particular, the German Catholic Church seeking a new 'synodal way' - to recognize the genius of Pope Benedict XVI. As one of their own, born in their midst it will be ironic if their eyes stay closed - much like the Jews not recognizing Jesus in their midst! May the Lord have mercy and grant a miracle.

TYTW and TR. Calling Ratzinger the Newman of the 20th century is high praise.

she really mischaracterizes Ratzinger quite badly on several points (especially on liturgy), and waxes on about all the evil "Marxist ideologies" which are "totally irredeemable" (in reality, the Marxist critique is a substantive and important one, and I cannot imagine Ratzinger saying something like that). at the same time, ideology has for her a purely secular character, absolving Catholics like her of ever having participated in ideology- except of course the evil progressive schools which want to "democratize" the Church.
