Never read the books and went with my wife to see it. I am a romantic at heart, and if you look deeper, there is a true love story here. She can save him, and he is her first and only true love. He needs saving from his past, as will be evident in the next couple films. I am now listening to the books, and it's almost better this way as you can picture the films stars in the characters, rather than the other way, being disappointed with what your mind made up for the characters.
Jake Penrod I’m doing the same thing. First movie, then books and I visualize the film characters. It’s perfect this way.

dornan's personality is so bland.... it just doesn't translate well to the character. I'm still going to see the movie though LOL
For once I'll agree. I'm a little disappointed but still gonna watch it.
From the trailers...it doesn't. But after watching it. I was pleased. And when I read the book again. I saw a resemblance between Grey and Dornan. I think it's because of how we looked at Grey when reading the book.
