As someone who is fan of both your current music and TWF (this song being a huge catalyst for the latter), I really appreciate that you're keeping this song up despite your distaste for it. It's made a really big impact on so many people and, as silly as it may sound, this song has helped me make sense of a lot of my own turmoil. It also has the commonality of uniting people who know how these feelings are: your songs tend to feel raw and real and kind of cut straight into my soul when I listen to them, and AUDIT is not much of an exception for me. (and this is not to mention your musical talent, your backing music has always been SO AWESOME!!! Though it really really shines in your current work it also exists here and oooooh I get a high listenign to it sometimes its so fun (thank you for uploading instrumentals!!!)) It really shows how an addiction can ruin your life and those around you's lives. You're right, Felix isn't a evil person by any means, a bit narcissistic but that isn't evil, but he also isn't a good person either. He let alcohol run his life into the cement and he knows this. The guy has a lot of regret and guilt but has no idea how to deal with it and is too scared to own up to it. I'm glad people see him as a tragedy about addiction and not just some villain who's "misunderstood."
@@xxkittyxx2599 oh no, i wasnt trying to say hes good. i meant to say that felix isnt somebody people should be forgiving or something like that. i cant fully explain what im thinking lolol
Not a lot of people are able to comprehend the difference between understanding and acknowledging that felix isn’t necessarily a bad person and excusing or forgiving what he did. Good people are capable of making mistakes, but his “mistake” was the result of a long series of bad choices and he is still at fault. A good portion of the fandom though seems to have adopted the mindset that it’s either “he’s a literal monster” or “but he didn’t mean it so it’s okay”
I love the Walten Files because of things like this. Felix was an asshole who cared about people around him, but in the end he killed the red kids. Jack couldn’t tell that Felix wasn’t in a good state of mind to pick up his kids, even if he didn’t get drunk and kill the kids Jack was still asking Felix for a lot just after his wife left. The red kids went on a killing spree after they were burred.
1:56 “I can stop when I want to, I still have self control. But I’ll never say no, but I’ll never say no.” as an addict trying to recover FUCKING OW MAN
This song perfectly describes what it’s like having an addiction. My mom was a struggling alcoholic for 5 years and she said it was a hard struggle and she wanted to stop but she couldn’t because her body physically needed it everyday and if she didn’t have it she’d be in excruciating pain. It’s a horrible cycle but now she’s doing 90 days in rehab and getting her life together.. this song is a good one to show people how hard addiction is and to not be horrible to people if they fail trying to stay clean. It takes a lot of time.
I've been up since before dawn for a mandatory college choir performance and I used this song as bg noise to fall asleep to on the trip and now my brain always expects the lyrics to be "I am a business. I have a fucking wife." and I cannot for the life of me understand why 10/10.
"They're not breathing anymore" really got me. BTW folks remember to check pulse as well as breathing! There's always some residual oxygen in the blood, but the body needs a heartbeat or chest compressions to circulate it. You can watch for chest movement with your ear to their nose/mouth at the same time that you feel the carotid artery.
Fun fact: if you listen closely at 1:18, you can briefly hear the song “What the hell is wrong with you?” from The Walten Files OST, which played during when Jack called Felix demanding to know what happened to his children and has been trying to call him for past 3 hours. Just one of the few things that make this song awesome!
Fun Fact: “What the hell is wrong with you?” is the part of “Everything is through, Dear” at 1:13, repeated over and over again. “Everything is through, Dear” is the song “Masquerade” by Jack Hylton. (Jack Hylton is also named Jack, similar to Jack Walten, though that could also just be a coincidence.)
To add to my previous comment, at 2:30 in the video, you can hear Jack saying “If anything happened- know-“, which are additional voice clips from Felix Kranken’s second call.
I didn't know my father's alcoholism was a reference to The Walten Files, that's cool Edit: Now my dad is like Jack Walten because he disappeared misteriously
0:49 "I've got a sliver bullet, I've got a self prescription. I say 'hand me one more drink', you call it an addiction. " OH MY GOSH THIS SONG IS A MASTERPIECE
I dont know why but the line "the iron taste in my mouth mixes with the merlot" is my favorite. It just flows off the tongue so well and perfectly sums up the situation. God I love this song and the video!
You know The Walten Files is now an even bigger thing when there's incredibly made songs like this;; _I legit cannot stop listening to this. It's currently the 25th loop of the song, and I'm still not satisfied. I need to keep listening to it lmao_ (Also I really love how you used bits of like dialogue and/or Jack's music. I just find that really nice details lol)
@@galaxyflamingo i was hoping someone would notice that!!! there's a lot of small details i put into this that im wondering if people will notice; i havent seen anyone figure out the title of the song yet, hehe
@@WeevilDoing ooh the name actually have a lot of sense!!! Woaw If someone don't search it yet: AUDIT is a simple ten-question test developed by the World Health Organization to determine if a person's alcohol use can be considered dangerous, and with the song context its a nice easter egg!
I'm sorry If This is a bit personal, but as someone with addicts as parents this song hits close to harm. There were multiple times I feared for My life while sitting in the car.
Dude I'm a sucker for vocoloid songs formatted like this and I gotta say you did really freakin good. Not only is the chorus really good, but the general composition, the lyric writing, and the verses are also just generally enjoyable to listen to. Nothing sounds too repeated and you did such a good job on the main vocals that I can't predict what the next note it - honestly, if this is your first vocoloid song I'm truly impressed!
@@beesindisguise5375 there is a word for all of those, you can call them all voice synths or voicebanks. (also - does this _sound_ like a VOCALOID to you?)
These lyrics make me so uncomfortable, meaning their written so good it hurts to listen to them at times. This song is amazing, along with the art I love it.
“It’s not like it’ll kill me, it makes me feel alive” 1:38 theres crashing sounds, like when Felix crashes the car with the kids (not killing him but the kids instead) , which is so cool with the attention to detail in this song
this song is absolutely insane. the lyric composition and instrumentation were already great, but the distortion effects (especially at 0:57, i have no idea how to ever do this and i am beyond impressed) added onto how good it already was. from the very beginning, i was hooked! i enjoy the usage of the piano quickly switching between chords. most importantly, the pacing of the song is phenomenal. i don't mean the bpm, but the rate of which ideas are presented. the switches between character interactions/events and breakdowns (verses to chorus) are also one of my favorite thing. there's so many things i enjoy about this song honestly ^^; i am so glad you had fun making it, because i'm sure i had such as fun listening to it
Just everything about this song truly makes it phenomenal! The vocoloid (sorry if its spelt wrong) and the beast mix well! I especially think the "the melot mixes the blood" and the art really adds to the song! Amazing song 100/10!
I love how the song transitions from this happy, up-beat theme with these happy lyrics, then quickly switches up at 0:57, then it plays out the same as in the beginning but darker, with Felix realising he's doing awful, being self-aware. Then the tone is completely switched upside-down, with him swearing in the lyrics, still convincing himself that everything's going to be alright and that he's going to make it. Then the car crash happens. He's not convincing himself anymore, he knows he fucked up, he knows he is awful and stupid and doesn't know what he is going to do now that it's too late. All of this because he couldn't resist. He couldn't make his mind up, and it ended up with him ruining his and others lifes. This one 3-minute song explains the walten files better than some theories. Great job.
Reminds me of drum playing also I’m the first reply of this comment? It has over 311 likes and not one of them replys? That’s weird eh 312 like here 1 2 3 messed up lol
I JUST REALIZED IF YOU LISTEN TO THE TICKING NOISE AT THE BEGINNING IF THE SONG, IT'S THE SOUND CARS MAKE WHEN YOU TURN ON THE TURN SIGNAL MY GOD THE DETAIL
OK BUT THE FUCKEN "ITS REALLY NOT YOUR PROBLEM, YOU SHOULDN'T GIVE A DAMN. YOU DON'T KNOW HOW IM FEELING SO DON'T TRY TO UNDERSTAND." HITS SO HARD ? such a real feeling idk it just resonates sm oh my god
I like the attention too detail that everyone dead or gone from Felix's life is greyed out, and he's the only one with color beside bon. Bon most likely has color cause felix is living through bon.
Is it just me, or are Jack's eyes/pupils similar to how Bon's are shown in the scene in which rosemary died? If so, that's an awesome detail. Great song!
I feel like the argument with Jack happened right after the argument with Linda (I think that's her name). He probably felt like he'd already lost, so what was the point of even trying to seek help anymore
I LOVE how the art style starts off super clean and neatly colored etc., then visibly gets messier, rougher, and more detailed in the wrinkles and whatever as the problem gets worse and worse. Extremely obvious if you switch from the last and first illustration/frame. even if this wasnt intentional
i’ve never seen the walter files before but this is actually super great??. the visuals and lyrics are so creative, and i love how it transitions from regular paper background to a rally surreal bright one whenever he’s getting super drunk! also the change from ‘I’m sorry jack i-‘ to ‘crashing metal’ is AMAZING
I found this song like 3 days ago and I've probably listened to it 57 times, the lyrics and word choice, the music, the glitch/static affects, the pacing of the song is all amazing and fits the atmosphere of the walten files perfectly I swear this song needs more hype around it
This song is somehow such a relaistic depiction of struggling with an alchohol addiction, I remember how my mom used to speak while drunk, it was just like this, especially the "But I swear I'll get better, this isn't who I am"
oh my... i know nothing about the walten files but this song is absolutely amazing!! the perfectly clear storytelling, the emotion, the LYRICS..... it's also so wonderful. the lyrics portray his struggle/downfall in such a powerful way, it creates a perfect balance of empathizing with his struggles and realizing his poor actions (mainly through his words towards others, showing how he's started to act abusively despite his best intentions). and the line "the iron taste in my mouth mixes with the merlot"? that hit me like a ton of bricks. overall, well done!!! i'm really excited to see what other works you have in store.
i can't really watch a lot of horror media because it tends to set off delusions (genetic mental illnesses moment), so i've always observed the walten files from an outside perspective. but even if i don't know much about the source material, i appreciate a lot about this song and video, like how at 0:58 you see a glimpse of the drawing shown later at 2:31 this song in general also does a really good job at expressing an internal monologue in a believable way. i don't know, i'm just a spectator
idk if anyone notice the sound from 1:18 is from the actual soundtrack when jack is calling felix in TWF 3. Name of the soundtrack is "What the hell is wrong with you"
All your music has such a great vibe of like... an unlabeled cassette/cd that you find in a weird store? Especially the static bits, but it's so unique and hard to find, it feels like pure serendipity you got to hear it at all? And it sounds just a bit worn, but that's part of the charm. Idk its all really good, and the lyrics are so pleasant sounding despite being so unhappy
This song is such α good representation of Felix’s mental state. I know an Alcoholic and these experiences are very similar to what she’s related to me. Unlike Felix here, though, she escaped the trap and has been sober for decades. You can always make it out!
I'm not a huge Walten files fan but this is fucking amazing, I've had it on loop for an hour. The happy parts are so delightful and the sadder parts are fucking soul crushing, I think it's the contrast between them that makes the song so addicting.
The best part about this song is that you don't actually *need* to be a Walten Files fan to get it. Sure, knowing the story adds a lot of context, but even as a standalone song about an alcoholic spiraling deeper into addiction, wrecking his marriage because of it, and then killing his friend's kids via drunk driving it works.
0:57 I f*cking love how it escalates like that and makes those glitching noises and how the Rhythm of the song changes and it gets dark. And the lyrics are soo good
there’s so many tiiny detaiils - liike feliix startiing out iin full color and everyone else grayscale, but as hiis liife crumbles he starts to gray out, and also the colors beiing eyeseariingly saturated iin the driinkiing scenes...... deities ii love thiis song
I absolutely adore this, I cannot stop listening!! The chorus is so good and the "Got children in the back. How are we gonna get home? *I'm really sorry Jack* " and the aftermath of that is PHENOMENAL
even though im not familiar with the source material...... i love this song its soooooo good!!!!! the lyrics and instrumental is so great and the video is so nice
I love the scene at 1:38 since he’s doubting his love for alcohol, at first he loved it but now it makes him feel miserable. Feeling more like a chore than a option, something that real addicts feel
One of the things I like about the WF is that the main conflict of the series doesn't stem from ghosts, or monsters, or whatever, but an all too human problem.
Yall theres nothing more embarassing than having this song on your playlist, listening to it over and over (mind you not even comprehending that theres lyrics or a meaning whatsoever,it was just a bop) and then when you see it on youtube like this only to find ITS FROM ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE ANALOG HORROR SERIES???
I don't know if anyones mentioned this yet (if they have I couldn't find it) but after listening to this an ungodly amount of times I noticed the detail of the car crash noises in the back at certain points of the song (like 1:44) THIS SONG IS SO GOOD
(I use a translator because I am not good at English, in addition to being Japanese.) | found this song just the day before yesterday. When I first heard it, the illustrations and the atmosphere of the music were so wonderful that I was instantly drawn in... I was curious about the Walten Files in the title, so I looked it up and took a look, and I enjoyed this song even more! Thank you for letting me come across this wonderful song and Walten Files… However, I have not been able to understand all the lyrics, so I will listen to this song more and more along with my English studies! I am sure that this song will support me when I am going through a bad or difficult time. Thank you for making this song!
He thinks he’s alive and that his opinion is over anyone else’s, that they don’t get it and that they’re jealous (or similar to that) even if it’s the kids
timestamp of everytime some sort of sample or motif was used because why not 0:07 turn signal sound (maybe just metronome but idgaf) 1:01 "its been three hours" + turn signal again 1:17 what the hell is wrong with you 1:41 sound of glass/something breaking 2:17 idk i just like the strings in the background here 😃 2:28 "if anything happened i need to-" 3:01 ringing phone + "we're sorry, the number you have dialied is not in service at this time"
OMG This summarized Felix’s story so well with the imagery and lyrics! Plus, it’s an awesome beat and makes you appreciate more the work and effort people put into producing something so thrilling and chilling for their audience to enjoy. Nice work, pal! You did great! ^w^👍
This is just such a bittersweet song and wonderfully describes the situation- What scares me the most, is the pop music tone to it. Plus the art is just i n s a n e dude, props to all teams here.
i dont think ive ever truly appreciated how genius this song, not only in its lyrics but the instrumentals as well. like at the line "it's not it'll kill me, it makes me feel alive" you hear rhythmic banging and then glass shattering and screeching sounds as like a clever audial foreshadowing to the accident. its brilliant sound design and i fucking applaud you for this song!!
Amazing work! I haven't seen anyone comment yet on the message of how many lives alcoholism ruins. In my opinion, it is not only an amazing song, but also a very real situation (which adds to the eerieness of the walten files).
Remember my children, not everyone who complains about their situation wants to get better, but you should always assume that they do, good assumption go a long way. Don't abandon someone just because they seem hopeless and depressed, sometimes hope just hasn't found them yet, and you could be that hope. 🖤
i love how this is such a bop; even if it sends electrifying shock down your spine its just that kind of thing that you can almost never find anywhere else yaknow?
Top notch lyricism - it really conveys the *shadow* and declining confliction within Felix as it submerges him into a luring temptation of addiction and into a trance of denial and lack of self-awareness that can be oh so destructive. The instrumental intertwines with this as it spirals into dissonance, really capturing the guilt, despair, and dismay that enfolds Felix and as he comes face to face with an ultimate failure that costed the lives of two innocent children that once called him Uncle and the respect of his closest friend. Now he lives with a guilt that feeds off of him from the inside out and a memory that shall haunt him forever.
coming back to say this still plays in my head! The ending verses give me CHILLS and I love the note that gets hit on "everything I could want" in the beginning. this whole song is so so amazing I love it so much!!

It really shows how an addiction can ruin your life and those around you's lives.

It’s been 2 years, how’s it going?
This song perfectly describes what it’s like having an addiction. My mom was a struggling alcoholic for 5 years and she said it was a hard struggle and she wanted to stop but she couldn’t because her body physically needed it everyday and if she didn’t have it she’d be in excruciating pain. It’s a horrible cycle but now she’s doing 90 days in rehab and getting her life together.. this song is a good one to show people how hard addiction is and to not be horrible to people if they fail trying to stay clean. It takes a lot of time.

And at 1:02 you can hear jack saying “it’s been 3 hours”
I think anyways
@@puff2975 oh yeah your right
Fun Fact: “What the hell is wrong with you?” is the part of “Everything is through, Dear” at 1:13, repeated over and over again. “Everything is through, Dear” is the song “Masquerade” by Jack Hylton. (Jack Hylton is also named Jack, similar to Jack Walten, though that could also just be a coincidence.)
To add to my previous comment, at 2:30 in the video, you can hear Jack saying “If anything happened- know-“, which are additional voice clips from Felix Kranken’s second call.

maybe the distorted sounds of tires sliding on asphalt?
this song is absolutely insane. the lyric composition and instrumentation were already great, but the distortion effects (especially at 0:57, i have no idea how to ever do this and i am beyond impressed) added onto how good it already was. from the very beginning, i was hooked! i enjoy the usage of the piano quickly switching between chords. most importantly, the pacing of the song is phenomenal. i don't mean the bpm, but the rate of which ideas are presented. the switches between character interactions/events and breakdowns (verses to chorus) are also one of my favorite thing. there's so many things i enjoy about this song honestly ^^;
i am so glad you had fun making it, because i'm sure i had such as fun listening to it
I concur

I love how at 1:18 you can hear "What The Hell Is Wrong With You?" in the song for a bit before it switches back to the lyrics, cool foreshadowing!
