Why are we calling these (add2)?

Let's take the key of Eb as an example. There's major and minor, if it's minor, it's written Ebm but if it's major it's just Eb. Do we're in Eb. The Eb scale consists of Eb, F, G, Ab, Bb, C, D.
A chord, it's just written 'Eb' uses only the root: Eb; the third: G and the fifth: Bb. So Eb, G, Bb
That's a regular major chord. The relative minor to Eb would be Cm. A regular Cm chord uses the notes C, Eb, and G.
If you want to make a chord exciting and not just plain major with just the root, third and fifth, you can add other notes from the scale. Eb(add2) is an Eb major chord with an added 2, so the second note of the scale, so an F. Now the Chord Eb(add2) consist of Eb, F, G, Bb.
Play it, it's an extremely beautiful chord. With that theory, you can make incredibly beautiful chords. The Police's "Every breath you take" makes use of these 'add2' chords. If you have any further questions just ask, I'll be happy to help.

@@ohmatokita6859 OK I got it now. I was doing sus2 instead. So what's the formula for sus2? Or the difference between sus and add?

@@tobymassell2367 add2 means to play the root, third and 5th and add the 2nd, while sus2 means that you replace the third with the second. So you play the root, 2nd and 5th.
The most basic and common sus2 chord imo is Dsus2.
      D has the notes D, E, F#, G, A, B, C#. So a D chord would be: D, F#, A
You play Dsus2 this way: Open D string, G string 2nd fret, B string 3rd fret, high e string open. It's an amazingly beautiful chord and you can find it in the Undertale Ost called "Undertale"
      The notes of Dsus2 are D, E, A
There's also sus4. The formula is the same: replace the 3rd with the 4th note of the scale.
If you have any further questions, don't hold back. There was a time where I was afraid to ask questions bc i was embarrassed and thought that I'd become annoying, so I'm very aware of people's inner thoughts, and I don't mind answering even the stupidest questions (not directed at you, your questions are very good ones). So don't worry, ask as much as you like
