- War Machines Over The Trenches: War Of The Worlds Game Without Warning is a video by pupbenny in which I review the Stefano Cagnani War of the Worlds game Without Warning while showing gameplay of this war of the worlds game. Inspired in particular by The Great Martian War 1913-1917 this is a genuinely creepy game simply due to the atmosphere constructed by the game developer and utilises in the game play both the War Machines as well as the Jeff Wayne Tripods very effectively as you play as a German Soldier in World War One. The WW1 setting of this game is nicely enhanced by the alien presence of the Martians from H.G. Wells' story. Also, apologies, I recorded a little too close to the mic on this one lol.

This game is genuinely creepy. (In a good way) I feel like I didn't emphasise that enough in this video because I didn't really notice it at the time. It's subtle. Like really creepy but not in an obvious way. Not sure how to explain it. I think Cagnani has done a terrific job of crafting the atmosphere of this game.
And anyone know what the alien might be from? Is it just a generic alien? It looks like it might be something specific so I'm guessing someone's going to recognise it. Is it from an adaptation I don't know about?

Brining up the topic of the great Martian war. The herons have quite a interesting design to them. It’s like a tortoise shell back and a Beatle like head. Heatrays are also very different being cannons instead. Enjoyed the video a lot .I felt like this game rarely gets mentioned in wotw discussions.

Absolutely! I loved those games. Well, the first two anyway, those are the only ones I've played. I still haven't played the remakes or whatever it was they did a couple of years ago. But I fondly remember the originals.

We don't need tripods to destroy our way of life. That is what the humans have been doing for thousands of years and still doing to this day.
Also, I just watched my 'review' of the game that's meant to be on the endscreen and it's pretty terrible, more-so than usual, so I've linked a subtitute for now and will do a new review of War Of The Worlds 1913.

This also reminds me of a alien vs human movie called battle for Lost Angeles movie the alien are called the Land sharks
I vaguely remember that film! I think I also saw a few other films inspired by that one too.

Would be interesting seeing you cover the tripods(or quad wheel things) from War of the Servers. You don’t here all to much about that adaptation these days

The the animation is good
Another minor nitpick assuming this game takes place near Berlin there wasn't any action anywhere near there the Germans were fighting far from the capital which makes the barren no mans land seem confusing but whatever still a cool game
0:30 the german is wearing an Austro-Hungarian berndorfer helmet, historical inaccuracy comfirmed, cringe activated... 😔
I wouldn't be surprised if the entire uniform was historically inaccurate.
Tbh I wasn't even certain at first if I was playing as a German soldier, I just assumed that because it was in Berlin lol.
