Shine's story in Detroit is just too storybook. Older guy, been putting in the time for years on the Minor league team, thinking about hanging it up, out getting his kid his first skates when he gets the call to come to the show. Doesn't just show up, but makes an impact exactly how the team needed, and locks up his first big league contract, likely jumping up around 3 freaking tax bracket overnight. He's not carrying them or driving the bus just yet, but his presence fits right in at the moment. As having just hit 35 yesterday, get that money friend.
And gets his first NHL point next game. love to see it
The kind of story you love to see. I hope he can get more than a few good years in.
On the Wings, you mentioned Edvinsson becoming what the Wings thought he would be. It’s not just him. His partner right now is rookie Albert Johansson, who has also looked like he could be a top 4 defenseman for us.
And then there's ASP in your system, who is your future PP quarterback.
The fruit of Steve Yzerman's prospects are starting to rise in the occasion.. several of his prospects have really blossomed over the last couple seasons and especially this season.. I don't think that's getting enough recognition in this Yzer-Plan.. and it will only get better from here.. the coaching change with the Todd Father couldn't have came out a better time..
Weeeell, it honestly could have been earlier.. like before the season has started 😅 but hey, no complaints now eh??. Just keep it going
Major improvements in all areas since Toddfather took over. I’m a believer
@@vipeholmskolan6052 I could see ASP playing half wall and seider still quarterbacking
People may complain about there teams ranking. I have found over the past five years of watching power rankings that you are extremely accurate. Every year my wings get hot and you usually have them ranked lower than I would. Then the wings proceed to fall and prove you right. Hopefully this year is different.
If you can't see the difference, then you have a lot of learning to do in regards to watching hockey. This isn't just the Wings "getting hot," this is a team that is finally playing to its potential.
@@CertifiedClapaholic disagree, you are tire pumping and fanboying. Incoming losing streak.
@@AlwayzFresh Nope. You can't see the difference because you're a casual.
Jeez and you’ll forget about that false bravado once they start playing badly again and miss the playoffs again ?
Most reasoned hockey debate:
Wings points percentage since Todd took over in Dec 26th is .750 (13-4-1) which is tired for 1st in the league with Caps and Stars. Would not be surprised to see Shannon in a Wings jersey again next Sunday.
They're .794 (13-3-1) if you don't count that first game where Todd was technically the coach but only got to town an hour before puck drop.
We need an Entertainment Guy reaction to the Luka Doncic trade
Yes we do !
It's really weird to say this as a Pens fan, but the happy smile on my face when I saw Colombus in the top10. I really hope they can keep it up
Coffee, eggs, and THG power rankings, the best Sunday morning routine!

And Church!

Wings looking good but a lot of other teams in the hunt playing well too. Great to see new teams in the mix, hats off to Ottawa and Columbus especially. Might be the most competitive division at this point in the season!
Watching Detroit play since McLellan got there has been a breath of fresh air. They were so stagnant. Now it is exciting again. Every team is gonna have losses. Even against "bottom feeders". But to come right back and beat some of the top contenders shows grit. I hope it continues. I am glad they are giving some of the future a chance instead of burying them in Grand Rapids.
Rip Van Wingkle! How awesome!!❤️💥
Love these, Sunday is laundry day. Every week I listen to this while at the laundromat.
What’s great about the Jets is they are winning without their Captain. Others have stepped up, especially in the PK role. Kupari have been fantastic in the face off circle. Gus and Barron killing penalties as well. ( now with Barron out, Iafallo has stepped up in that role )A Power play that has been on fire!! Keep it up guys!!
@@gingersnap3736 I loved that Kupari shot on that 2 on 1. Not something that he would have done last year - he's getting hungrier.
@ He was a definite steal in that L.A. trade.
Parker Ford has looked pretty solid with Barron out as well
In the wake of last night's 'Clash of the Titans', the Jets rank 1st overall in GF, GA, and power play.
Will only make their playoffs disaster that much more hilarious
Yesss, my Red Wings finally getting love. McLellan has these boys "playing F-ing hockey."
Todd’s Red Wings team just feels different…. What is this feeling of winning? lol. They’re finding so many different ways to win games and our goalie tandem has been outstanding. Thank you Todd. Go Wings.
Wearing the Red Wings is a good sign!
Been following the channel since 2020 and have not seen the jackets this high since. Team is special this year
Since December 29th, only the Jets have a better record than the Red Wings.
Jets have been the most consistent team to this point in the szn. Rememwbr when jets and rangers were the top two…
Detroit only had 3 regulation losses in January 💪
caps had 1
@@collincalhoun3521that’s because you didn’t have to play the Wings
I really hope Detroit, Columbus, and Ottawa all make the playoffs. We need some new teams in the mix
Always a fun watch to see the dynamic movements of all the teams. Ups and downs for everyone.
Go Jets Go!! Just wish SN and HNC could give them a little more time and love during their broadcasts. Last night they spent 13 minutes talking on the Leafs and Oilers matchup. Then 4 minutes of so-so content on the Top Two teams in the NHL. Very aggravating. So lopsided.
They also never once mentioned that the Jets are the number 1 team in the league, again. They did mention that Ovechkin scores the most against the Jets however. Tired of the lack of respect. Yes I know we have to prove ourselves in the playoffs but this is the best season we have ever had! Why is it not possible that the team is capable of learning like other teams who have had similar challenges in the playoffs and then won the trophy the following season like the Panthers?
No respect. Ever.
Every Saturday night - "Tonight the Toronto Maple Leafs on Hockey Night in Canada and some other teams"
Was at the Canes game last night. Glad you kept them at #5 as about half of their roster is really sick and were game time decisions as to if they would even play. Got some bad funk hitting the locker room hard. Keep up the good work.
Ottawa is playing scary good right as a Detroit fan i feel like they are the target Columbus is good but Ottawa looks like they have the edge
Just logged in to confirm the Jets were #1 once again. 6 wins in a row, most points in the league.. and having beat the Caps in Washington yesterday kinda makes it a no-brainer.
I think it's been true for 2 weeks honestly. Caps are #2, Jets are #1. It's close for sure.
Do something in the playoffs
@asmrfan6543 Nobody cares. It's all about the Red Wings right now, anyway
@ Interesting. 7 wins in a row, just like the Jets. Only difference is, this is the 3rd time the Jets have won 7 in a row this year.
@asmrfan6543 Second time we've done it since McLellan took over just days before January. Imagine if he was around to start the season...
Red Wings should get the rights to play Golden Hour whenever Shine scores, literal goosebumps at the thought of it.
Sunday morning, coffee and the Jets are #1. 6 game win streak and beating the next best team in their barn. Sweet !
Best part is the top line didn't score. So much media coverage on the top line, and the jets proved they have depth and strong D.
And #1 in GA/GP, GF/GP, and as would thus be expected, goals differential.
Spoiler warning??
You want the presidents trophy? Go for it, I prefer my Caps not have it, if it's all the same.
@ Still haunted by 2010, among other playoff thuds?
Let's go Red Wings!
Will be interesting in the next week to see how the 2 Ottawa Tampa games go. Could have a huge impact on 3rd place in the Atlantic.
watch both teams win one game and absolutely nothing changes lol

Shannon, since the Wings hired McLellan they have played 18 games. The record is 13-4-1 that is 27 points out of 36 a .750 win percentage. Not bad at all.
@SkipWebb your math is awful. it's a .722 win percentage. It IS, however, a .750 points percentage.
Crazy to see CBJ in the top 10. I hope they can mke the playoffs
yeah, I think he's riding the hype train putting them at 10.
Avid Avs fan here since 95' / 96'.. I think 6th spot is grossly overrated, however their power play has found some light so that may be a major factor with the talent we have. Love your vids!
Please explain Columbus! Explain the hope I feel in my soul!
Johnny Gaudreau had to be sacrificed for that hope
@@higherground9888too soon, man
@@higherground9888Poor taste. New management and new coaching has revitalized the team and some of their draft talent is starting to take the next step in development. If anything Laine's comments drove them further towards making a run for a playoff spot.
Nearly every young guy who was getting written about as a potential breakout before the season is, in fact, breaking out.
Marchenko looks like a star out there, while the likes of Fantilli, Voronkov, Chinakhov (before injury) and KJ are growing into guys worthy of top 6 deployment.
@@higherground9888 had to comment to add as others have said, this is incredibly poor judgement to make jokes of this nature.
**BLUES** #25 on the board, #1 in my heart
Go Jets Go!
Every hockey fans dream of starting off a Sunday, with a coffee and THG’s power rankings!!
Always happy to see red wings jersey in your video
Most weeks I cannot argue with your rankings. And I don’t have any arguments this week either. I look forward to Sunday morning coffee and THG’s Power Rankings.
Very happy foe Blue Jackets.
I like the graphs! It would be cool to see how teams have changed their position throughout the season!
Always a pleasure every Sunday morning. Thank you!
I just gotta say Shannon you’re power ranking are the best by far
Always nice to see you rocking wings gear
Ottawa below Columbus is interesting. We’ve had pretty much the same record recently but we’re a point ahead.
Ottawa has the 5th best record in the league since December 1st which includes the 9 game road trip
Not only that but most of it is without Vezna Ulli. Getting shutouts with Leevi and Forsi. The d is almost impregnable. All of our top dogs getting robbed lately have started lighting the lamp and they are almost unbeatable when scoring first. This week against TB twice will be tough. Hopefully the boys come to play and Norris is okay.
The Blue Jackets had more competitive games against better opponents in their recent loses. The Senators recent regulation losses were back to back shut outs versus the Rangers and Bruins ending a 6 game point streak starting after being shut out 0-4 by the Sabres. The Blue Jackets recent regulation losses were 4-7 against the Hurricanes and 1-3 versus the Islanders ending a 7 game point streak started after a 4-5 loss to the Red Wings.
@ fair enough, though the sens have won against the better opponents in this time span as well.
Im not gonna look up stats, im just gonna say this. Both these teams have been horrible for years, and right now they both are playing like teams that can create all sorts of havoc in the postseason should they make it. So who cares about where they are ranked? All that matters is points in the standings and how many games are left to get more.
I enjoy your videos. Thank you for making them.
As a RedWings and Blue Jackets fan. I am enjoying this right now. Taking it fully in
totally fair ranking of the Habs. We caught a glimpse of what they could be but they are not there yet. Hopefully management has a good off season and Demidov comes to Canadai
If I had to tweak one aspect of these rankings, I would rank the Islanders ahead of Montreal. There is no way my Habs should rank above the Islanders right now, considering the way the two teams have been playing.
Shannon, good on you for sporting a Wings' jersey with Yzerman's name and number of the back. It so happens I have the honour of sharing a birthday _with_ Steve Yzerman.
The Canadiens had the absolute best record in the league from Dec 15th to the end of their hot streak. Islanders will likely move above next week if recent patters continue.
@@maxfish4270 Isles have a pretty rough schedule going into the 4 nations break. If they can come out .500 (including the games set that just occurred in Florida), then that's a win imo. The win streak was inevitably going to end, but the big thing is not going on a losing streak longer than your winning streak afterwards.
Thanks for all the work you do
In the fullness of time - many years from now - the THG Power Rankings board will be on display in the HHOF.
17:03 “the rest of the week exists” 😂
A line graphic with each of the teams rank on a week by week basis would be a cool visual
Buffalo at 29 for how many wins they’ve had lately? They’re playing some decent hockey having just beat the devils.
Islanders are making all the thumbnails lately and I’m here for it
I have to laugh at Avs fans always thinking Shannon hates Colorado and now they are confused because hes being reasonable and not knee jerky lol
Sens are back in the playoffs this year! I wouldn't want to face them in the first round that's for sure.
Regarding their early playoff outs, this shows that the Jets are thinking about their fans in that they don't want to be putting us through 8 weeks of ulcer-creating stress only to loose in game 7 of the finals as was done by the Oilers last year, which shows that they just don't care about the gastronomical well-being of their fans.
Jets be put first round lol.
Losing first round or losing game 7 in the cup finals are both fails. It does hurt more to go deep and lose, but it's less embarrassing than a 1st-round exit. So, either way sucks lol.
Just ignore the complaints, Shannon, we all love your power rankings, the complainers can do their own thing
Power ranking averages across the whole season so far would be a cool vid
That’s pretty much just the standings
Love seeing the Stars moving up.
Habs back in the third row. The world has returned to normality. 😂
Wish they had of stayed where they were what happened to them?
@@jakedoe275 stopped winning and started losing
@@jakedoe275The Habs played over their heads, Ghule is now injured, the Laine honeymoon is over and you can see the season is taking a toll on Hutson and add to that pretty average goaltending, the Habs will probably be in the last row by trade deadline
@@LBlazer169 Yep I guess so!
@@unbearablycringe Yep Probably! Just like usual! I guess the Honeymoon is over lol
dang im one of those guys that grabs a nice cup of joe and watches the power rankings every Sunday! keep up the awesome work its very much appreciated!
Jets #1 let's go
So I am a Colorado fan, and my only thought is "What?!? How is Colorado in the top row??? We are below .500 in the past 10 games, and haven't been playing good." I love my team, but I really feel you have them too high.
Haven't had Nečas and Drury for the last 10 games. It's only been 3 games, and that first game Nečas was playing on 3 hrs of sleep.
@ Yeah, but that is "potential greatness', and the power rankings are supposed to be a ranking of "current demonstrated greatness". What is the excuse for the second game?
Avs did less worse. Kings lost 3 this week and Leafs had 3 losses in a row from last to this week.
Canes fan. Definitely will take a top 5 position! Plus, this week, all of our skaters have been sick with the flu, so the game against LA tonight is a wash for us, and LA still needed many lucky bounces to win anyways. Mikko keeps getting better and better!
Haha! The refs kept it closer than should have been. Canes are having a good season so far.
After Akil Thomas nearly made it a three-goal lead at one end, Carolina went the other way quickly and made it a 3-2 game. Thomas appeared to be taken down on a partial breakaway, without a call, before the Hurricanes quickly moved in transition, with forward Eric Robinson scoring on a wrist shot off the rush, beating Kings goaltender Darcy Kuemper for the goal, his 12th of the season.
0:27 Right on cue. Yeah, the rest of the season will be rough for the Sharks aside from watching Mack and Will Smith. Askarov was assigned back to the Cuda with Vanecek returning, so hopefully we see him again post deadline.
Like "the rest of the week exists".
Thank you... I enjoyed your streams and power rankings every week.
Good for you, Shannon. I still think you are way to kind to my Kings...I was thinking third row-generously-along with a small whip glued to their magnet! If they can't beat anyone...then beat 'em. good call on the rest of the teams. Now, let's see if a returned doughty can injure his selfish self in the pitiful four contest. What a great idea...hold a four-country competition using players on the payroll of Canadian and U.S. teams. Pay a guy 1$12 million dollars so he can break a leg for Canada? Does Bettman's greed have no limits?
Anaheim got out of the bottom row! Woohoo!
Islander fan here. Completely satisfied with your placement.
It's really nice seeing Columbus not only finding ways to win, but playing really tough in their losses lately. Today's game against Dallas was rough though, may be some new additions to the injured list.
Avs fan - Avs are too inconsistent right now to be #6. Their best game is elite, but their bad games are putrid. Maybe they will live up to your spot, but I need to see a little more before they are a top row team.
I think he factored in Nečas and Drury.
Glad to see your Detroit jerseys getting some more air time. Go Wings! #ThatsHowYouPlayHockey
Keep up the good work...Great way to start a morning.
How DARE you have that team on that spot on the board when that other team did that thing that one time! I am unsubscribing and demanding a full refund of my VIP membership!

Necas can hear you! lol good one
Lets go sens
A stat I’d like to bring up, Tampa is a +34 in goal differential, whilst Boston in -26. I don’t know how, but they are nearly equal in the standing
Glade you mentioned Necas he’s really talented and will do well in Colorado I think both teams did really well in the trade.
Best power rankings out there
I'd love to see a video with your thoughts following up on your coaching boost vid about the Red Wings! They are doing PHENOMENAL since Todd took over. Everyone questioned the Yzerplan, but clearly the talent IS there for Hockeytown! Thanks for all your videos. I look forward to each of them. :)
You and a cuppa = Sunday church for me. Cheers!
" The Leafs had a bad week and then won on Saturday."
Their only other game was on Wednesday. Sure, they lost at home to the Wild, but is that really worth 5 spots? Man, speaking of *over-correction!*
I really do love your work, Shannon, but I can't help but disagree with you this week.
Honestly, outside the first 10 minutes against Edmonton, they did not look good. They were lucky last night.
Sens should be on top. They beat leafs last week and are perfect 4-0 since. Beating the best team in the East and dismantling the very Wild team that snuffed Toronto earlier in the week.
The Leafs prior to the win Saturday were on a 3 game losing streak, 1-3 vs Wild, 1-2 vs Sens, 1-5 vs Blue Jackets. Before the win against the Oilers the Leafs were 2-5-1. If you are saying the Leafs probably should have been around 6th last week before dropping to 9th this week, I won't argue against that.
Winnipeg could give Comrie more experience in net, rest Hellyebuck for playoffs a little here and there?
Look for that to happen when/if the Jets clinch home ice advantage throughout the Western Conference playoffs.
3 days later, make that ANOTHER 7 game winning streak in 20 games. Can't wait to see us jump another 3 or 4 spots next power ranking vid ;)
Winnipeg is targeting top seed in western conference finish for home ice advantage. They are well aware of having a sketchy playoff history.
LGRW!!!!! Thanks for everything you do THG. Thanks for all the knowledge and the consistency. Much appreciated
Being a Utah fan and giving up leads every single game is going to send me to an early grave. Lol
I agree with the rankings and happy fan here that Islanders are at 18 and moving up.
Did Oilers fans hurt you? That was a lot of apologizing for a 2 spot drop, lol. Seriously though look forward to this every week, great work!
"You don't have to skip to the end if you're a San Jose fan" - Wow, brutal open for Sharks fans
Great job, as usual, Shannon!
Only concern with the Oilers is how they start their games. 1st periods have been hurting them too often lately, and it’s NOT a good trend.
Other than that, it’s the usual, soft defensive play and Goaltending is just too inconsistent.
2019 can hold me over another 20 years. Don’t worry Blues, still love you.
As a lifetime Bruins fan, screw you, but also 2019 made me a st.louis fan. I’m pulling for a big comeback at the end of the season for you guys.
@Rubencleats2221 as a lifetime st.louis fan Boston sux 😅. But appreciate the rivalry love good luck aswell this season
You’re in a better situation than an old grizzled Leafs’ fan: “1967 can hold me over another 57 years…” .
@dennish.7708 😂😂 another 57 is crazy
@@Rubencleats2221 One thing I have learned is that for every miracle story, there's a team on the other side not feeling the magic. Let's call the 2019 Cup a karmic trade for the 2004 World Series.

I hope they go on another run and are D A N S L E M I X late march.
Season's definitely not over, but man am I excited to see what we can do with Demigod and maybe a free agent with that cap space.
Hoping for a 2C in trade (not looking good on the free agent side) to finally fix our 2nd line.
Caufield - Suzuki - Slafkovsky
Laine - Magical Poney - Demidov
Heineman - Dach - Newhook
Gallagher - Evans - Anderson
Extra : not Pezz, Armia, Dvorak they are gone.
Hutson - Guhle
Matheson - Savard
Xhekaj - Carrier
Extra : im expecting Struble and maybe someone else to be traded, the logjam is really starting to show up again.
Montembault - Dobes who’s 1a/1b ? who ever plays the best.
@benoitrobitaille5235 Savard will be the 7th D next year. Personally I like Matheson, but I expect him to be moved next year.
I think Dach has shown promise in the past month and can work as a cheaper 2C.
12:18 5 game heater and 13-4-1 since The ToddFather took over
Its such a breath of fresh air seeing teams like Detroit, Ottawa, and Columbus succeeding. Hopefully they can keep it up 😃
