    Hello, I have watched a couple of your tutorials on the (TG01-0023w) upgrades and ty for helping us all out. But I have a question regarding the Ram upgrades. After upgrading to 32 GB which is max on this PC, the speed stays the same it looks like and there is no way to change anything in the Bios.
    My question is; is there a Bios update that will allow us to get the best settings for (Corsair Vengeance Pro 3200 MHz Ram) ?

    • @TNW1337

      Well the hps do not allow xmp profiles. So if it can not do it as a stock speed the ram runs at 2400 or 2666mhz. Vs 3200 your only losing like 10-20 fps at most. The most important thing is the dual channle.

    • @BojackHorseman-cq3kc
      @BojackHorseman-cq3kc Рік тому

      Thermal paste is usually pre-applied by the manufacturer in this case, HP if you swap CPU chips you'll need some alcohol and new thermal paste you cannot and should not reuse thermal paste and instead clean it all off and ensure fresh paste is on the IHS Integrated Heat Spreader. Thermal Compounds Id suggest is Arctic Mx5. The reason to not use the paste and instead to clean it off is for more stable thermals as all IHS are slightly different as not all metal is created equal. When you pull off the old chip to replace it with a new one the old thermal paste is not as receptive to heat and cold dissipation.

    Another awesome video! Appreciate you taking the time to explain everything. 1 question though, I just installed new ram in my son's,G.Skill Ripjaws 5 16 gb 3200mhz ddr4. I already had bought another stick of 8gb similar to the one the TG came with but being a noob I thought that the "Gaming Ram" would be better but when I installed the new kit it downclocked it to 2130 I think instead of 2666. So my question is what speed should they be running at and did I waste my money? Of course the bios is locked so I can't change it unless I go into Ryzen Master. Hopefully you can help!

    • @jacobjones5595
      @jacobjones5595 3 роки тому +3

      Not an expert at all here, but one route you can take is to download CPU-Z so that it can give you all the details about the RAM concerning speed and other stuff that I don't really know what it means. Then you will need to install AMD Ryzen Master because from what I understand HP has locked the BIOS on the TG01. Ryzen Master is a program that allows you to set the clock speed and other parameters of system hardware without going directly to the BIOS. You would then use the information about the RAM from CPU-Z to make appropriate changes to the memory settings and run a stress test to make sure it will work. If something goes wrong and the system crashes you would remove power from the machine, remove the battery from the motherboard for a minute then start over again.
      Another problem could be that the RAM is not compatible with the motherboard. You can check the motherboard page by HP for that information. I will say that I just upgraded my TG01's RAM from the original 8GB to 2 sticks of 16GB at 3200MHz. Mine was plug and play possibly because I just purchased the Crucial brand RAM that was linked through the HP motherboard site. Hope this helps and best of luck!

    So, my questions:
    Is it safe to use the 3700X on the 400W power supply? Likewise upgrading the 1650 Super to a 1660 Ti?
    This is what I'm looking at doing...
    I've already upgraded the RAM from 8GB 3200 to 32GB 2666 (Yeah, I know, speed vs quad capacity, minor trade-off), and upgraded NVMe from stock 256GB to PNY 2TB (3500/3000 R/W).
    I haven't yet upgraded the GPU or the CPU. I'm just minorly worried whether they'll chew more power or get the PSU too close to its theoretical max under load (gaming and/or BOINC PrimeGrid computing)?
    Ohh, and I added an inexpensive 5-port Inateck USB3 PCIe card (with a SATA power connector input to power the ports), for extra connectivity.
    I don't know how much extra load wattage the 1660 Ti and/or 3700X would pull under load, or really how much the existing components already pull. I know the TDP of the 3700X is still 65W, but not sure whether that directly tells anything about its theoretical max power draw (isn't it just some kind of indicator of how much thermal dissipation is needed from the heat sink, as opposed to a more specific measure of maximum power draw off the PSU)?
    Any insight?
    Will this take a full ATX power supply, or is the case too small, and/or the board to proprietary (w/4-pin HP connector for CPU, etc.)?
    I hear there is at least a 500W PSU of the right form factor and connectors available through HP part picker or whatever. Don't know if any higher end parts that fit and have the right connectors. Do I need to go that route, or will the 400W PSU be sufficient?

    • @MGmirkin
      @MGmirkin 3 роки тому

      Can't seem to get a straight answer or even a ballpark guess, on this from anyone...
      Like, I plan on using this thing for gaming on my old GTX 1660 Ti (swapped in place of the 1650 Super), and for BOINC distributed computing with PrimeGrid, using all cores / GPU.
      My current Phenom II x1045T does great, and I assume this will do great-er... I'm just not clear whether all the parts will fit inside the 400W power envelope under load w/o complaint, or whether I'll be pushing too close to its theoretical wattage limit and it would be better to get the 500W PSU for extra headroom?

    • @TNW1337
      @TNW1337  3 роки тому

      The 400 watt will allow up to a 3060 and Max CPU and MAX Ram. If you and going to try and put a bigger GPU in you will need the 500watt cpu. Normal ATX PSU will not work.

      @@TNW1337 Question if you could be so kind to take the time to review this. The set up mentioned here is identical to what I have with the 3500 CPU and 1650 super GPU, not for all games but a few the system completely freezes and becomes unresponsive to where I have to manually reboot. I've done stress tests, looked into the system/problem history and countless hours of research without identifying a real root cause. One of my applications implies that there is high CPU usage around the freezing events. This didn't happen when I first purchased my PC, but am considering upgrading to the 3700x to solve this issue. The temp never goes above 83° C when gaming and idles around 30 - 40°C, this appears to be standard from my research. I'd love to use my PC more for gaming but am reluctant due to spontaneous crashes. If you have any insight to what could be going on, I'd be very grateful 🙏
