I’ve NEVER seen this before. The looters before they were shot by Jody. Again, lots of bit parts extended for the television version. I remember a few of the extra scenes, but this one came as a shock and a surprise. I love it.
Yes I saw this clip back in the 90's..I was okay.. Just as the couple on the airplane..XD..just wish they could cut out the scene with Jody's bodybuilding.. XD
These extra scenes added 2 years after principal photography to extend NBC's runtime for the world TV premiere of Earthquake were very hit and miss quality wise. IMO, this was one of the best, far better than that airplane couple scene.
This is only in the Blu-ray extended tv cut released by Shout Factory only as a special feature along with another additional scene. Hope the full TV version will be shown one day.
Probably in another part of LA rendering assistance. Actually, earlier in the film there was some archived footage from "Emergency" during the car chase scene. Also Kevin Tighe (Roy De Soto0 was considered for the part of Officer Slade and Sid Mantooth (probably a relative of Randoph Mantooth - Johnny Gage) was in the film as Sid, the National Guardsman who said about Jody "I'm going for an officer, that guy has cracked1".
I thought I had seen Earthquake in all of it’s theatrical and TV incarnations but I have never seen this. I can see why this scene was cut - that actress is beyond terrible.
This is NOT a deleted scene. It was a scene they added in when Earthquake premiered on network television, so they could lengthen the movie and show it over two nights. I saw it at the movies, and then when I watched on TV I was like “what the heck is this??” From the Net: “For the initial network television showing broadcast on NBC in September 1976, additional footage was shot to lengthen the film in order to show it over two nights. The most extensive segment of new footage is a subplot of a newlywed couple (Debralee Scott and Sam Chew Jr.”
Technically the suitcase wasn't the pawnbroker's widow Mrs. Wyman's to give them - they looked like thugs and I believe what she said about their looting another store since that didn't look like a lot of stuff the pawnbroker was holding as security. At least they did try to speak respectfully regarding her late husband. I liked how she was able to stand up to them and how tenderly she placed a pillow behind the late Mr. Wyman's back. This scene should have been taped and included in the original film since it ties into the scene where Jody shot them instead of taping it 2 years hence in order to help pad out the film for the 2 night NBC Big Event.
What happened to the other scene where the pilot is relaying to the passengers on the plane that the dam has now broken? Also the magnitude of the quake is also given as 9.9 in this scene
And there was another one where the pilot after the dam collapsed reported that - this was when the husband Tony (Sam Chew) said he wanted to go to the Honolulu branch of Royce Enterprises to offer his help with rebuilding L.A.; his wife Kathie (the late, great Debralee Scott) said she would support him and stay right by his side.
@@michaelmiller6579 WRONG! Jesse Vint was the taller one (Buck), Lionel Johnston was the shorter one (Hank), and Alan Vint was the other roommate who made fun of Marjoe Gortner (Ralph). They say they’re going to meet Ralph at the deli so Ralph isn’t in this scene.

This, as are the other "deleted scenes" you falsely posted as such, are NOT deleted scenes but were NEWLY FILMED scenes added to the 1977 NBC network two-part showing of the movie. You should change your info and clip title because these are NOT deleted scenes.

What I like about this scene is that it helps explain that the husband WAS running a fencing operation.xd

It was added later so when it aried on TV to just fill in time there..It was Not part of the 1974 original release .. XD
