Shaan do these principles also apply to depression . I have a pretty deep depression now that goes hand in hand with my sensitization. Did you deal with depression and have others in your programme?
The tough part of anxiety is when you been dealing with it for over 20 years ‘ and develop bad thinking habits do to the anxiety , then when you start feeling good and put everything you learned into overcoming , a stressor pops up ‘ or something you overthink , and you fall right back into the cycle , knowing what’s going on but can truly find a way to stay out .

I feel like it’s never ending, yes I am on medication which I have been for almost a month but feels so much worse. I am trying to accept and allow the symptoms but when my chest is tight through feels like a lump and heart palpating I feel so low then the dizziness comes I try to run and go for a walk and it makes me worst 😭😭😭 praying for the day where I can get these under control the head heaviness is also very uncomfortable and scary
Best advice Shaan. The ONLY CURE TO ANXIETY IS ignore it. Nothing else will work neither any meds will. I tried homeopathy and it has helped me. But it took almost 2 years to overcome and i still am anxious some days and it scares me that something is wrong. But i have the confidence now. Fight it guys. It is manageable. We all need our lives back. 🤞
We’re essentially challenging the anxiety itself when we allow ourselves to feel these symptoms. Allow yourself to feel and trust the process. Everything is going to be okay.
I am trying to think of setbacks as growing pains, because the brain oes not like change if that means going out of our confortzones and with anxiety we make that comfortzone very small atleast if your agoraphic at one point like i was. I am getting out of it cycling a couple of km in my neighbourhood. And after 2 months of feeling good and expanding my comfortzone i have had 2 episodes of anxious feelings this last week. But i am making changes because i don't dwell over them when i am back home i don't sit on the couch thinking about why i felt anxious i force myself to move on with my day. And i like to see setback not as a bad thing but as growing pains because like i said the brain does not like change so instead of thinking why am i feeling anxious again i try to think well i must be doing something right because i am feeling a bit anxious again after expanding my comfortzone slowly these past months; And as long as i keep reacting the right way i can only move forward instead of backwards
As someone with BPD(Borderline personality disorder), even helpful and effective videos like this are so useful and awesome. You are the best Shaan, you can get rid of these panic attacks!❤
Could you make a video.. like a reenactment of yourself having an attack. Show us step by step your actions or thinking.. self dialogs etc. Please 🙏 this would be BEYOND helpful to SEE a visual example of how we should handle one 🙏🙏
This helped a lot , I saw one of your posts on overcoming vertigo and I can say I have less symptoms of that but another thing that annoys me about anxiety symptoms is that for me the symptoms seem to exchange with each other I’ll have detachments for this week , and try to reconcile the symptoms and have another symptom the next week.
It's normal. It's part of the process. Had everything from my head feeling like it had rubber bands as headbands, floaters, seeing halos, being air hungry, closed throat, numbness, chest pressure and pains, palpitations, racing heart, vertigo, feeling hot, feeling cold, and of course, panic attacks. Just part of the process. Keep at it, don't get frustrated and/or fear it. It will pass.
Its so true. I was in Shaans jumpstart program for many months and have never lived happier. Healing comes from within, and it's up to you. The community and mentors do a great job to help you.
You are the best! Seriously it's the first time everything makes sense when I listen to someone talking about anxiety. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and tips with us. It's precious.
A while ago, I got a weird cold feeling on my left side. I was cold to the touch, and internally felt cold a little clammy. I panicked, called an ambulance, everything normal last night. I had the same symptoms, but I wanted to panic, but I didn't. I felt no pain or anything, just that, and I was like, eh it went away and I tried going back to sleep and same thing happened I was doing bad anxiety habits and thinking the worse and I was like nah im fine and I fell asleep and I feel fine and tried not to hyperfocus and just let the symptom pass and I was able to go back to sleep.
It's due to blood circulation issues due to Fight and Flight. All blood gets pooled to muscles and hence extremities gets less blood supply hence they get cold. It's a common symptom of Fight and Flight.
And even IF there is something wrong, like a chronic infection (I have Lyme and co-infections!) these tools help with healing...I have seen significant changes through brainrewiring.
Thank you so much for all your videos, can you please make a video that explains why the stress system becomes so sensitive! because I always reacted to fear? Why don't others develop a sensitive stress system?
Hello shaan, can you talk about whether with generalized anxiety, or at least for those who go through constant anxiety throughout the day. I'm not sure if you did a video on constant symptoms of anxiety or generalized anxiety, but it would be nice if you did
Does anyone have cardiophobia and have intense palpitations throughout the day and worse when your trying to sleep? Would love to talk to someone who is going through the same thing as me 😁
@BazzGamingOB I started getting these sensations when I was in my early 30’s. I would have them every hour of the day and sleeping was difficult because I was so hyper focused on them. The doctor that I saw called them PVC’s. He said they were harmless. He said some people have them and actually feel the sensation and others will have them and not feel them at all. I went through all the heart tests. Nothing was found with my heart. Now it took me a while to accept my heart was fine because the sensations are so real. Over time they slowly went away to where they were not chronic everyday throughout the day. I will have them occasionally, however they go quickly because I do not fear them anymore. If there is nothing found by your doctor believe that this is all coming from your mind and slowly your mind will get it.
YES I do have it ...Most night before I sleep I work for 1hr so I get straight to sleep ,not laying down on the bed wandering with the thought of those heavy Palpitations...Infact I used my other pillow to closed my ears I don't hear it beat , because it's so scaring 😊😢..You're not alone in this
I used to have it each night for a few full months. It was just an anxiety pattern. Try some breathing or somatic experience training before going to bed. When the symptoms get lower it will be easier to convince the brain you are safe 😊
To me hardest thing is when I try not to react but accept it and just keep on living then eventually my system goes to freeze. And that makes the cycle to start again. I see a lot of references to flight and flight but not anything about freeze or shutdown state. Where your parasymphatetic state goes to dorsal.
Hello and thank you very much for this video which gives me hope. I'd just like a little help because I've had extreme anxiety for 1 year when I use screens. I've been to see several specialists who can't find anything, so I think my problem is anxiety. In fact, my visual cortex overheats when I use a screen and I also get flashes in my head... How can I get out of this situation and do you think it's anxiety? Thank you for your help.
It's due to hypersensitivity of visual system , during anxiety all our senses gets Hypersensitive to capture even small things to Alert you , by your brain. As shaan says it's all due to Hypersensitive Nervous System.
I guess my question is, how in the world do I get my cortisol and adrenaline to drop? Because at this point, even taking a mouthful of food or getting off the couch anticipating ANYTHING precipitates a panic stricken feeling. I swear, benzo’s might be my only option. Because, man, I can’t be a father, husband, hold down my job, or do anything recreational with the kids while feeling this. But I still try. I feel like it will put me in an early grave. Excepting it is basically an inevitability. But that hasn’t been helping. I mean, what I’m doing is excepting a life of panic……..it’s not looking great and certainly not feeling good. And I’m on edge constantly due to that fight or flight thing.
I was on this level too. I managed to get out by just getting on with it which was hard but eventually it started working and these videos help. However for some benzos are needed to get the levels back in check then you can start the process of healing.
I was like you. Just standing up from the chair and taking a few bites of food would get my heart racing and I would go into full blown panic. If you don't fight it or fear it and continue to live your life, as if you were "normal", eventually your cortisol and adrenaline levels go down on their own. Breath normally. Acknowledge and accept. You don't have to do anything like takes herbs, teas, deep breathing, vitamins, massage, etc. I know it's hard to hear this but it may take time to see improvements, just don't get desperate and get frustrated. just remember "KEEP ON LIVING and THESE SYMPTOMS SHALL PASS". I did not take benzos or go to therapist, though there were a few times I wish I did. But everyone is different. If you went through one horrible, intense day where symptoms were horrible 110%, and you got through it, then you already have a victory. It won't be a walk in the park but you can overcome it on your own, as long as you stick to the principles of recovery that Shaan puts out and Dr. Claire Weeks. Watch testimonials on this channel too, they helped me as well.

Very common :) I had floaters, visual snow, and kind of flickering shadows. Get it checked out by an optometrist and if you're clear, just give your brain time. You've become visually dependent due to being stuck in survival mode.
WHAT A MINUTE! Those are very likely signs of your retina detaching. The sooner you see an optimologist the better your vision will be. I had to have FIVE surgeries, and now I have vision problems because I waited.
