It appears that there are transcription errors in the Masoretic text which results in about 650 years being removed from the timeline. If you look at other texts, like the Septuagint for example, you can see that some of the ages are significantly different. I say all this to say that we shouldn't be relying on hard timelines here since we have to sort of go out on a limb to get some of these ages.
Indeed, it seems a bit crazy that he sees the event described in the Bible evidenced in the very soil he's excavated, but then is so confident in his carbon dating practices, etc. that he then arrives at the idea that "the Bible must be figurative" regarding the ages of the forefathers.
Finally...an archeologist...who follows what the bible actually states. Truly...this is the biblical city of Sodom. While we cannot ever know for sure...it is without a doubt...the most likely place. I, for one, believe it to be the correct location.

It appears that there are transcription errors in the Masoretic text which results in about 650 years being removed from the timeline. If you look at other texts, like the Septuagint for example, you can see that some of the ages are significantly different. I say all this to say that we shouldn't be relying on hard timelines here since we have to sort of go out on a limb to get some of these ages.
